Welcoming Autumn // cozy fall decorating, cottagecore art + autumn style lookbook

Cozy autumn days are starting, which means it's time to get out the fall decorations, plan snuggly autumn outfits, make tea, and let the beauty of the season inspire art! In this video I'll give you ideas for how to make the most of time spent indoors, and inspiration to get out into nature as well. I'll show you lots of cozy decorating ideas (remember to always use caution if lighting actual candles or opt for electric to be safe!) that are handmade and natural. Fall is turning the mountains into fairy forests for several weeks, so come dream with me. I hope you enjoy this video and it gets you excited for this wonderful season ahead! ✨ 🍂

Tea Recipe (serves 1):
3/4 cup boiling water
2 thin slices fresh ginger
3 cardamom pods
2 whole cloves
1/2 stick Cinnamon (1.5”)
2 inch strip of orange peel
2 strong black tea bags
1/4 cup apple juice
Bring your water to boil on the stove with all the spices and orange peel. Let simmer for 7-12 minutes (the longer the simmer, the stronger the spice flavor). Add the tea bags, steep for 6 minutes. Remove tea bags and spices and add apple juice. Simmer all together for 5 more minutes. If it needs sweetness, add a touch of brown sugar to taste. If not, enjoy! ☕️

In Florida, I can only dream about fall days. Sweaters are seldom worn. Hubby gets cold easily , so if is below 76 he is cold. I still want the AC on. The fall colors in your video look like I remember them in Illinois . Colorado has gold. Florida is the same all year.

A new subscriber here! Your channel randomly popped up in my recommended page because I think I’ve been watching so many vlogs and videos similar to those 😅 I just love the vibe of these videos and the calmness of them. I liked how you stated that you try and get things second hand or you create them. I am wanting to visit some charity shops this weekend to buy some new clothes for autumn since I don’t want to pay full price for them since some of the ones I’ve been looking at are quite expensive and also I like the thought of reusing someone’s old clothes and giving them a second home :) even tho here in the UK we don’t celebrate autumn quite like some of you Americans seem to do there’s always some bits of autumn that I can celebrate in my own way. I am wanting to start celebrating seasons more even if not a lot of people from my country seem to (or I think they don’t) because I’d love to start seeing the magic in the world again like when I was a little kid. Sweetheart that has to be one of the prettiest videos that has popped into my life on KZbin so far. I just love those Autumn colours are superb. They sure don't wear beautiful clothes like that in Western Australia where I live, but I would have worn some of them back in the 70's...as they say "what goes around comes around". You say you don't like waste...then I do hope you cook up those pumpkins into soups, scones or whatever when you have finished using them or even in a roast dinner or just a plate of roast veges... that was so pretty I think I am going to have to watch it again before checking out your other videos and of course subscribing. Good morning Wandering Mind. These videos keep getting better and better - as always. excellent content with impeccable production standards. YourAutum decorating and tips are nothing short of inspiring. - but that's of course to be expected from a strong self sufficient woman such as yourself. TYFS and have a wonderful weekend. My favorite method of maintaining a sustainable pantry and stockpiling items long term for the whole family and the family dog and the family cat is what I consider to be the most practical, utilizing every tyld and new. . Except for the fruits and vegetables that get canned, I keep perishable items like meat, poultry, fish, fruit, vegetables and dairy products in the refrigerator on a short term basis until I'm ready to use them for a big family meal - and for even longer term sustainable storage, a large separate freezer, which can store a half side of beef with plenty of room left over for homemade ice cream etc. . I'm considering upgrading to a walk-in freezer at some point.in the near future, if my plans to open a bed and breakfast come to fruition. Sometimes, however a nice round of cheese can do well for quite awhile on a pantry shelf at room temperature - and doesn't mind even if it has to stand there alone. Store bought canned goods get shelves.in the large pantry closet - several for canned meat like corned beef hash, spam and sandwich spread and another for canned vegetables Bread, rolls, grains, homemade pasta, cereals and the like are stored in special humidity controlled bins I order from Amazon Prime - which usually get delivered to my doorstep about an hour after I order them. . Stuff from the family garden and orchard, like onions, bell peppers, tomatoes, cauliflower, cucumber, pumpkins, carrots, corn celery,, potatoes and yams, cherries, blueberries and strawberries get canned in Mason Jars and stored in the cool, root cellar of this wonderful rambling former farmhouse (circa 1867) I share with my extended blended family and several rambunctious dogs raised on table scraps from the some of the finest food from a plethora of sources both commercial and home based. . There's even a special separate "summer kitchen" which I converted to store butter and ice cream churns, pots, pans, utensils, extra storage containers, foil, bags, cutlery, and other meal related accoutrement. Out back in the woods, just beyond the big pile of wood I maintain all year, (for use in an antique woodstove I keep on hand, in case the power goes out) there's even an old rusting vintage still where my great grandfather made some of the finest corn whiskey for miles. Next to it is the rusting hulk of the Ford Model A he used to transport that powerful hootch by the light of the moon on soft summer nights to his eager customers in a tri-county area. Further into this verdant forest of mostly sycamore, oak, pine and scrub, runs a cool stream into which I occasionally cast a rod or net to catch some Brook Trout, Bluntnose Shiners, or whatever takes the bait (just earthworms for the most part). And yes, hunting season means wild turkey, deer, and even an occasional wild boar. Next week, I'm planning on filing for a permit to 3-D print a smokehouse in order to be able to create gourmet artisan handcrafted, beef, bacon, turkey, and beef stick jerky, which interested local merchants can private label for other people to share with their families and their family dogs. Unfortunately, I had to break the bad news to my free range hens today that due to expected egg shortages regretfully numbered are their days of laying a couple of eggs and then basically taking the rest of the day off with ranging privileges' within the parameters of a few very nice rural acres - parts of which are rich with fat grubworms. There's even a short dirt road between the main barn and the farmhouse which they're free to cross to get to the other side as often as they'd like. My rooster Ben overheard me and he ain't too happy either, knowing full well that due to ongoing egg shortages, he'll be "workin' overtime to make sure there's plenty of eggs for the family and I.

I really like your ideas and the colourings I like the idea of using the small squashes and pumpkins, I just wanted to know whether you'll find that they last for the length of time of using them for during autumn or do you have to preserve them in some way? I did see somewhere that someone has soaks them in bleach and spray them with some clear varnish but I didn't know if you did anything like that or you just found that they lasted for the length of time you needed? Also I love the idea of making the cottage in the tree could you give an idea of what materials you used in order to make them?

Hi!! So as long as you don’t cut into or carve the squash/pumpkin it should last quite a while. I’ve had mine over a month and they are still super fresh, not soft at all! I think they will last through November. For the cottage, I used balsa wood, stones I found, artists modeling paste for the stone paste, floral wire for the tree trunk, dried florals for the leaves, polymer clay for the details like pumpkins and trim, and a lot of hot glue!! Hope that helps, best wishes :)

Gosh, a mix of everywhere! I really try to thrift a lot, so quite a few are goodwill finds. I like buffalo exchange as well for used clothes that are a little more current, and a few items are hand-me-downs from my mom. But also I’ve gotten some pieces from bigger companies like target or h&m although I try not to buy from them much because I don’t like the ethical/environmental impact of those companies. But they are affordable for basics like t shirts or tights so I’ll get those things from those stores.
