Just beautiful! I'm binging your videos after seeing the hot cocoa bar and so happy to have found you! I'd like to just add, I did an arrangement last Christmas and had greenery in a big silver bowl (like your turkey) and used real candles. They were placed to the side, NOT CLOSE to the greenery at all (you know where this is going). We were not eating at that table, that dining room is at the front of the house, next to the front door. When some of the guests were later, I was so focussed on keeping my beef tenderloin from overcooking, that I forgot to blow out the candles on that front table, and when the guests came in the door the wind must've blown the flame just enough that it captured some of the greenery. Just as we were sitting down where we were to eat (at the back of the house) our smoke alarms went off and.... we had a five foot bonfire in the silver bowl on the table near the door! Fortunately, all working together, we managed to grab a fire extinguisher and get it out before the entire dining room went up! But know I had a room full of Marines and they're very quick thinking and responding, we almost lost the house. I've vowed never to use another real candle, it's just not worth it. Your battery lit candle is nice. Also it took firemen ten minutes to get to the house... they told us they had three house fires on Christmas eve alone! Be safe out there. The danger is real, even when you think you're being meticulous.

Omgosh!! That sounds so scary! And after all your hard work in the kitchen! What a day! Thank goodness you had quick thinking Marines that could get it done!!! It is for this reason I’ve shifted to battery operated. Now one of my battery operated taper candles broke when I was trying to film my table so I dug up some old (and rather ugly lol) real taper candles that I used just for filming…you’ll notice my candles don’t match lol…but I stopped using real awhile back because it’s like you said- it really doesn’t take much! Hopefully your delicious beef tenderloin was enough to get your holiday festivities back on track after all that! Thanks for sharing your story! Haha) The other back up option from Bico isn’t my first choice for substitution but it’s a much more affordable option (Spode listing is for 1 plate; Bico comes with 4 plates) and it has a 5 star rating.
