Schott is the best of the best their jackets last forever. You can find online people selling their schott from the 70s and they look in good condition.

I'm looking at the water resistant jacket right now on Banana Republic. How is the hood on it? Some people are saying it's flimsy and doesn't hold up in the rain....

The hood is a bit flimsy. If your only walking from your car to the house or the grocery store, and your outside for 5 minutes or less, it will keep your hair dry. I wouldn’t rely on just the hood if I had a long walk in the rain though, you can’t tighten it to get a closer fit. So, it’s good enough for a quick walk in the rain, any longer than that i would just bring a small umbrella with me.

Well, I’m 6 feet and this is a large. It depends on your shoulders. I’m a 42 chest, and a large fits just right. I would try an extra large for you.

@@tommilano5431 I have the same chest measurement as you so in that regard I think its okay. My main concern is the arm length. I think im going to order a large as an xl would be a bit too baggy for my liking. Again, the arms are just giving me second thoughts. I should be fine.

How old are you and do you have any thoughts on leather jackets and age? I'm 37 and considering purchasing the 530 but reading about an over 40 leather jacket stigma.

I am a few months away from 34. I think the stigma is for the older guys that wear shiny, black leather jackets that aren’t fitted. It will depend on your personal style. I found brown works better for me, and I think they are more versatile. A brown leather bomber can look good on anyone regardless of age, so you could try to find one of those.

The brown 530 would work for you, assuming you don’t wear much black, or if you do, are okay with mixing black and brown.
