Thank you for sharing your old skool journey. I had mine just yesterday and was deciding to get the comfycush( it wasn't in stock)but instead got the pro skate version and glad I got it because I also want a driving shoe that is comfortable also in walks or in the gym. Best shoe ever hahaha

If you were wanting to do a short film, where your scenes are wide outdoors and subjects are around 50 metres from the camera, what mic would you suggest to pick up ambient audio from the scene? For example, shooting a sports car scene but from a distance and you want it to sound distant to match the scene for the viewer. The car passing through from left to right and fading out, if you get me?
@tommilano54313 күн бұрын
For that, the ECMB1M is the one. Use it with the 180 degree pickup pattern. However, the scenario you’ve described, might be better to go with the Rode Video MicNTG. Sounds better than all of them, it does have a battery that needs charging and requires a cable. But, it sounds the best and is about the price of the ECMB10.

Thank you so much for this video. Currently with Black Friday both cameras are on sale with only a $50 price point difference. I purchased the ZV1 ii and have been trying to decide if I should return it for the ZV1. I have been combing over videos and thankfully I stumbled upon yours because you answered many of my questions. I decided to keep the ZV1 ii based on the type C charging cable - Micro B was pretty much a deal breaker. After you explained the difference between the features the two camera models had, for me they were very minor and not worth exchanging the camera for the ZV1.
@tommilano54313 күн бұрын
You’re welcome! I ended up keeping my Zv1 since I already had it, but out of the 2 the mk2 is the better overall camera.

Yes, but jeans and boots don't actually expire if they aren't worn right away, e'en if neigh as disposable as socks. I don't wear jeans as much as some other types of pants, either, but most guys wear out their jeans much more quickly than you or I might. Some e'en has turned t' wearing kilts specifically t' counter this reason!!! Many other things I agree, but I have mentioned elsewhere before likely that often I wait for the sale and my size is already gone, anyway. BUT recently I was going to buy one brand of work boots just to compare them to some other that I have, but then I went to other website and they had similar brand ON SALE for less, so I got those INSTEAD. So I did SPEND money, but also SAVED money since I was going to buy boots already and the other comparison can wait since these were ON SALE now and if they don't fit or seem like total crap, I can still return them and get the other ones later.
@Highland_Paddy5 күн бұрын
Once, a long time ago, the department store of choice had a gimmick about BUY 3 LEVI'S and GET LAKERS TIX, so I bought the three pairs and ne'er got the tix, BUT at least only ONE those pairs didn't get worn before I gained weight and I still sold one or two on ebay once I knew they would ne'er fit again. I don't know how much dough I lost, but they were still $45 pair or less then, so I wasn't out much more than 20 bucks maybe? Obviously I wouldn't buy extra pants to try and get tix e'er again BUT 3 pairs of jeans is pretty standard amount when one goes seasonal shoppy, instead o' worrying about is will only actually WEAR one or two [I almost ne'er need only ONE of clothing item unless it is something like black parka.]
@Highland_Paddy5 күн бұрын

I have the navy parka already, and I wear it exclusively in the winter. I find black looks better if I happen to be wearing dark wash jeans, and a navy sweater - it doesn't clash.

My father bought me and my 2 brothers a peacoat from a suplus store in downtown DC, probably in late 1960s for ten dollars each. It was warm as hell. I really wish i could have one but aint no way i would pay 300 plus for one. I have a coat that looks like a peacoat, its a "car coat" i picked up at Sams Club on sale about 20 years ago for 38 dollars, 70% wool, 20% nylon, 10% Cashmere. made in Belarus. Its warm as hell, looks close to a peacoat. BTW. I wouldnt worry about the "billowy" look of your peacoat being unbuttoned in a store lol"
@tommilano54315 күн бұрын
This one is a bit pricey, and I don’t know if I would get one again, as I tend to like parkas better or single breasted coats. That car coat sounds like it’s a great option!
@comm25315 күн бұрын
@tommilano5431 its a long wool coat, not heavy at all. Definately would need a good wool sweater underneath it for temps below freezing. P coat is warmer. I would think you would never really need to buy another p-coat. Just beef up buttons like you did, sew up any tears. Also, i really have no need for a pcoat in Houston.

I’ve owned the same pair of AE Higgins Mill boots since 2018 and I wear them daily through fall and winter. I got them for around $260 on a Nordstrom sale and I’d consider that money well spent. I haven’t replaced the Dainite soles yet but I may have to soon because I see that the heel lift is starting to let go. If I replaced them I’d likely go for the Grant Stone Diesel boots but I love the way the Higgins Mill broke in so much that I’ll definitely do at least one new sole before moving on.

I'm glad someone said it. Despite the very appealing price, these are cheap boots, they are a value boot. I bought three pair, gave one pair away, bought the other two with low expectations. I would not do it again though. Instead of spending $200 save your money and get a quality boot that you will want to wear and gets more comfortable with time. I've also had some quality and sizing problems. TBC is ok as entry level on a budget, but keep looking for that forever boot.

I got a pair of natural CXL Higgins Mill around d 2017. I wore them everywhere from job sites to office, and did a lot of driving in them as well. Love the boots. The issue I had was the tongue kept slipping. I had a tack stitch added, but it just kept breaking. When we moved last year I donated them. Not being able to get that natural again, I really miss them and I regret getting rid of them. I have replaced with other boots (Alden), but I still miss the HM 😢

I always like that you keep coming back and doing the Higgins Mill reviews. I also like that you've put them through the paces in real world situations. That really adds credibility to your review. I have pair of Higgins Mill boots and I love mine. Mine aren't weatherproof and they aren't the chromexcel. They're just full-grain leather (which I don't see them offering at the moment). Thanks again for the review.

Im super confused why they retired the Dalton also. Sure it needed updating with better broguing. Maybe a commando sole, or JR Soles version. Not to mention its beyond me that AE hasnt teamed up with Whites or Nicks boots and did a collaboration making their design into a PNW rugged version. I mean 15% at minimum are in both camps. I really do hope ABC Mart Japan can buy AE and bring in the original families to restart AE into something better. And bring back sewing to America and whatever else they are doing in the DR using questionable labor...
