I need to sew up some fall quilts to forget our hot humid days!! Love the fall fabrics. Not much of a fan of metallics but the fabrics are pretty. I kind of thought the same about batiks when they first came out but recently the colors and designs are gorgeous. A silly question: when sewing metallic fabrics, do you need to use a new needle before and after? Do you need a specific size of needle? As always, enjoyed watching your video. Thank you!
@FabricCafe3 жыл бұрын
Hi Anita, These fabrics are printed with a metallic ink on high quality cotton. The needle size recommended for these cotton fabrics is the same as regular cotton we sell, 80/12. Change your needle after 8 hours of sewing is recommended. Because most of our tops can be sewn in 4 to 6 hours, you could change after making two tops. Usually, if you sew a lot, you may become "in tune" with your machine needles. If you are getting abnormal stitches, skipped stitches or thread breakage, you will know it's time to change a needle, although it's been used less than 8 hours. Hope that helps. Thanks so much for watching our videos! Donna
