Is the fly you spin up in your Video the same as the Pumpkin Spice Kebari?

First time watching this channel. I'm an old school NE Minnesota brook trout guy. (We use worms and ultra light spinning reels). This is a brand new concept of fishing to me. Looks like fun. Thanks, Dan 🌲🌲🌲

Hi Tristan: I enjoy your tenkara adventures. I've seen the famous October Caddis flying on some rivers and streams in Oregon and California right at twilight, and I've caught steelhead with the October Caddis pupa fly that I've tied. Instead of yarn I use a dyed burlap material for the body for a more "segmented" look. I didn't use a yarn because I was afraid that after several uses the yarn would lose the segmented look. Using a tinsel rib could possibly retain the segmented look on the body. I also use the guinea hackle to more closely look like the Oct. Caddis pupa, and the elk hair for the antenna. More continued success on your vlogs.

A thoroughly enjoyable vicarious outing! And I love that name for your kebari! As others have noted, the various styles for tying the October caddis often call for orange. I’d say yours worked very well. My first shipment of your yarns arrived today - looking forward to tying with them this evening! Again, thank you for these videos!

Hey Tristin, here in the east, we have the Northern Casemaker caddis = Pycnopsyche is the genus. One of the imitations is called the Pumpkin Caddis. Works well August through October. Hatches at night. Fishing it is best in the evening through early morning but I've picked up fish in the afternoon too. In those rocky streams, try wrapping a #14 hook with a coarse thread and tie it off. Then get some of the fine grit from the stream bottom, soak the thread body in head cement and roll it in the dry grit. Brook trout in the Adirondacks love it.

The pumpkin spice kebari could also be called an October caddis kebari. That color is usually effective in October.

Looks absolutely delightful. Great day, sweet spaces, and reinforcement of your "rookie" fly. What are your primary sources when scouting potential waters? Thanks for entertaining posts.

Interesting video. I have watched some youtube video of finishing in creeks, caught brook trout, and having a fish sashimi at riverside with beers. My question : is it legal to eat fish that you fished in creeks or brooks all over the United States, or some states in US?
@TenkaraAddict
@TenkaraAddict 4 жыл бұрын
Often you can take and eat the fish, but it depends on the species and the creek. Most cutthroat trout streams in my area are catch and release only, for example, but I think the daily brook trout limit is 25 (they're an introduced species in this part of the country). Basically there are fish all over the US that you can catch and eat, you just have to be aware of the local regulations that vary from spot to spot.

Interesting, looks like the style I am looking for, do you have pictures? Selling them? I want something that is backpack style for easy carrying, A small jacket, but with some accessible pockets on the front so I don’t need to take it off.
