Awesome video ! I was wondering if the disc were going to cut through that dry hard soil . It seemed to do pretty good . I never planted a cover crop . I kinda always looked at it that my weeds was a cover crop lol . Thanks for sharing !

Thanks. The rye was only $18 for the 56lb bag, so it's pretty cheap. You could give it a try. That old JD disc is heavy! It cuts pretty well.

Thanks. They are worth it. I wouldn't buy a new one from TSC, though. They aren't made heavy enough to really work. Get an old one from craigslist and you'll get better results.

Yes, you could even do it in a raised bed. Rough up the soil, plant your rye seed, and rough it over again. One of the things I like best about winter rye is that it isn't finicky. All it needs is soil and moisture.
