I was cleaning out a bed of zinnias yesterday. Every time I pulled one up I would apologize to it and say "You are so pretty" LOL But I am ready to revamp that bed

I will often thank my plants for being beautiful or for providing food, before I pull them out. Glad I'm not the only one talking to them!! 😊

You gave me the courage today to clean my beds. Let’s see if I have the same courage on the weekend when I will actually in front of the beds 😂 Great video!!!

Thank you. I just bought snapdragons yesterday and I wasn't sure what they needed. Now I am confident for their winter care and looking forward to a great fall and spring bloom. Norma in Mendocino, CA.

It's so satisfying to pull out old stuff! Makes everything feel so neat and tidy! Your snapdragons are the prettiest colors. It would be fun seeing them bloom along side the irises!

I’m glad to hear I can start some snapdragon seeds in the winter. I ordered seeds but got distracted by health issues before I could start them. By winter I should be back to 100% and ready to start all the seeds!!! 🍁🍁🍁

Definitely! Plus it’s fun to grow them when it’s cold outside!

Good morning. I must be an odd gardener because I don't mind taking things out, pruning things back and just making my gardens ready for the winter rest. I at this point am finished with the weeding and watering. As well as I like to make my garden fresh and not tired looking. So watching you makes me feel like I did the right thing. Have a wonderful day.

This one is really well established now … I do t think I can hurt it but the only issue would be less blooms … which is fine with me.

Motivation boast received! Had to let those temps drop before I could even think about bed clean up. Soil too dry for me to fall plant cold hardies, hoping early spring will be good.❤

I'm cleaning also. Some of it really does need to go! I'm ready to put the outside to rest and focus inside. Thanks also for the comments made about how you can feel things can look a mess, yet knowing how nice it will be come again spring. Blessings!

I pulled out most of my zinnias a few days ago. They had succumbed to powdery mildew and looked terrible but did put on a beautiful show all summer.

My zinnias are still blooming like crazy and for the first time in my history with them, I do not see any white powdery mildew!! So, I'm letting them do their thing. All of my bearded irises that I divided and replanted seem to be surviving although the leaves don't look very healthy, but I see new shoots growing up from the rhizomes. That new snapdragon flowerbed is going to be gorgeous that you just planted.

What height do the snapdragons that you planted out get? I prefer the more dwarf sized ones.

Between 24-48 inches depending on the variety.
