On August 16th, 2023, Mediatonic announced that they were moving away from seasons this video will be discussing that and some reasons why I think they decided to do so.

*Small corrections* At 03:10 they started to remove LTM's that feature vaulted maps in Season 9, not Season 8. At 5:20 Roll On is a Season 4 map and it uses the classic theme, I genuinely forgot that map existed. Roll Off is a Season 3 finale but it uses the classic theme but has the season 2 skybox. Bean Hill Zone is a Season 7 map yet it doesnt use the stadium theme. The Summer Breeze Update will end on September 27th and not October 3rd. So SBU lasted 43 days.

I don't think seasons are gone permanently tbh. I think they're just spending all their time working on the Mobile release of Fall Guys right now so they're temporarily "moving away from seasons" to give them time to do that. Kinda like how Legacy Season 6 lasted so long without content, and then we got the Free To Play launch.

Honestly only time will tell, but with the language used it does seem like it's a permanent thing. People expect seasons to be this grand thing with tons of changes, so if they release season 11 or Season 5 and it only has minor changes like the summer breeze update which didn't have a new theme people are going to be a little mad, whereas with an update, not so much as people don't expect updates to have big sweeping changes if that makes any sense.

@@Izzytorium The roadmap was only talking about the next few months, so it actually looked pretty temporary tbh. I'm assuming it'll just reset to Season 1 again when Mobile comes out, and in the meantime we won't have any seasons.

I have no idea how other games do their roadmaps but I'm assuming they only show a few months ahead rather than say an entire year as things might change during that time.

I’ll miss the professionally made levels for sure, not just the polish on them, but for the backgrounds and atmosphere as well. All the unity rounds equally beautiful and fun to play. Fingers crossed we get some new themes for creative because some of those levels already feel cookie cutter and repetitive. Sky is the limit though! W video🔥🔥

Great video Even if i don't play the game, i just want this game to be as succesful as possible because it's one of the most unique battle royale experience on the market (imo). And seeing the major focus on Creative instead of the main game itself really concerns me, especially when we used to have a lot more maps, variations and LTMs available to play. The Vault is possibly one of the worst things happened to this game and MT know that they can't disable maps, variations and LTMs forever.

I forgot this game is a battle royale sometimes, the vault and removal of maps is what started the death spiral, season 8 was when it was the most noticeable however it started in Season 7 believe it or not.

Last time it was in the game was in Season 8 if I recall correctly which is a year old now which is crazy. Apparently, the map had its music changed but with the summer breeze update or update 10.3 it plays the old track now, so maybe the map will make a return soon but that's just wishful thinking on my part.

I genuinely believe that the other reason for the shift away from seasons is because MT was running out of ideas for season themes - which will most likely lead to the generic theme they will never have to change like you mentioned might happen. It would explain why (at least in my opinion) the creative theme feels more like an idea they decided to use rather than turn it into a theme - it doesn't feel like a theme to me.

I'm really curious what they're going to do for the next update, since this is the first one the other ones could be drastically different or pretty similar. While all themes are a remix of classic, the digital theme really feels like classic with some slight tweaks.

The best part is, creative mode is still in it's infancy, and the maps people have created are already very impressive and fun, I havent played much this season but every rotation map I've played (that give you shards and not the sweat fests for crowns) was extremely fun, felt like release fall guys with everyone just not giving a crap yet still caring about qualifying.

I really hope they start making maps in unity again (or unreal) because one of the things i loved the most about fall guys was the polish in the levels asthetics, all of the new creative made maps feel really cheap because they look really boring and generic.

When you finish a creator made round in solos and are in the qualification box screen in the bottom right you can see a nametag of sorts that says "fall guys team" it's basically a way for you to know who made the level, so I could totally see them doing adding player or community made rounds to solo.

They kinda did that with Season 4 but yeah new themes are definitely going to be a thing, wouldn't be surprised if they release 2 themes one being an old one like winter and the other one being a brand new one.

I'm sad that there's probably not going to be a dinosaur themed season, and speaking of that they had a ton of potential with season themes. Also they still haven't said anything about a music selector for maps, and I still hear the ss3 final theme in maps like runner beans. And with the introduction of Collab fame passes, I really see potential in those fame passes, well as long as they don't pick obscure collabs like they did with final fantasy

I hate the creator rounds. I would love to go back in time with 60FG players and exciting solo shows. Now winning a crown doesn't mean anything. Coming from a golden knight who hadn't played for 2 years and already regret coming back.

That's the downside of essentially giving away crowns, it loses its value but I don't think mediatonic really cares about that as its no longer a spendable currency and only useful for the crown ranks, so they can just give it away. I don't completely hate the creator made rounds as they make the grind on the crown ranks easier but winning it doesn't feel special compared to solo's.

Summer breeze update finished on September 27th so SBU was 43 days long! Thought it was going to finish on the 3rd of October since that's when fame pass 4 will end but guess I was wrong and I'm quite happy to be wrong. So from the looks of it updates might not be big but they'll more consistent, you can't have both unfortunate and big updates while great if its taking them too long to produce I'd rather them go the route of short yet consistent updates, I do miss the spectacle of a new season but all good things must come to an end I suppose.

Interesting, makes sense considering that fame pass 3 ended on august 22nd but summer breeze started on the 16th, guess the ending of a fame pass doesn't necessarily mean the update will end on the same date, so used to the season pass ending on the same day as the season.

I really don't like how the new fame passes work, I ended up stopping my streak of maxing out every fame pass since the game launched in August 2020 because there are too many levels to unlock in such short periods of time :(

I don't blame you, you basically have to play the game daily and finish your challenges and even if you do you'll need to rely on double fame which kicks in the last 2 weeks of an update, it's just tedious and the rewards aren't worth the effort.

I've had my gripes but overall I'm having fun with Fall Guys. Single shows are fun, solos is in a decent spot, I finally have friends for squads, and the fame passes have something for everyone.

I play the single creator rounds more then the core modes (solo's,squads,duos) nowadays, the creator maps in Solo are incredibly mid but no team games in duos (except for Egg Scramble for some reason) is great. The fame pass is interesting we'll have to see what fame pass 5 is, I think its going to be a collab one like fame pass 4 was.

Welcome back to making videos! I'm hoping that what some people are speculating comes true which is that Epic has been in the background for a long time been working on remaking the game in Unreal Engine which they own. Normally this would be a huge cost but since they own the engine and they are experts on it that would make the process so much easier and solve problems like the game running like crap on Switch and the old Xbox and allow them to fix all the bugs that exist in the game much much easier with Epic's backing. I really really hope this happens so we can finally have a bug free game where the physics aren't broken as hell with terrible body blocking, morphing through maps, terrible ragdoll physics, etc. I would give my left nut for this to happen 🤣. Creative is just a band aid in the mean time cause they are soooo slow with updates to it even with these "regular updates" that they just need to scrap the game and remake it anyway even if that isn't in the plans already at this time. Now I am super glad for Creative though. It's probably the only reason I'm still playing at this point aside from helping others on their journey to getting marblellous since I've completed my journey 6 months back. I'm getting tired of these content droughts man. Too many games where that happens and companies can't get their crap together. Is there a company anymore that knows how to make a game and keep it updated on a regular basis anymore? I feel like Fortnite gets regular updates but I'm never going to play Fortnite unfortunately. Just not my type of game. I'd also play Stumble Guys on a regular basis if it didn't have the most predatory in-game shop on the planet with gambling spin wheels. Also at this point why is squads and duos still 20 shards and 35 shards? Solos doesn't seem to have SBMM anymore and now has been shortened to just 4 rounds. Plus there is 1 crown hard maps and 20 shard easy maps both being single round. So again why is duos and squads still 20 shards and 35 shards and sometimes 8 rounds? They both need quality of life updates really badly at this point. They need round shortened and updated to be full crowns now at this point. To the people who complain about omg crowns mean nothing boohoo you're a minority at this point. Crowns died for me as meaningful when they removed them as a currency. But that's just my opinion I'm not stating it as law like some people do 🤣. Just so many glaring issues at this point with the game. I can admit I might be being overly cynical. but so many issues with the game just not being taken care of in a timely manner or at all in some cases. Anywho I'll stop ranting now sorry for the 500 word essay 🤣

Gosh I hope they move to unreal that would be great, though I do think rag dolling and body blocking are what gives fall guys it's charm so I doubt they would remove it, if they do, I'll be shocked. If they move to unreal it makes sense, why they aren't making maps with unity anymore and are using creative as a temporary substitute. I remember playing a game of Duos back in early august and it was actually 8 rounds which was crazy to me as I thought people were joking but sure enough it was 8 rounds lmao, thankfully I won that, gosh I would've pissed if I lost that.

I lowkey sympathize with Mediatonic, the switch's hardware is just so weak even when it came out back in 2017, the Nvidia Tegra x1 which is the soc that's used in the old switch models whereas the newer models use the Tegra x1+ is basically used for mobile devices. The switch and Nintendo's whole brand fits perfectly with fall guys it's almost a match made in heaven, but alas poor hardware and optimization ruined it, I'm hoping the switch successor is powerful enough to run the game at 60FPS.

You know, I showed off the lobby screens and explain the changes for people like you! Oh and also newer ones as a way to show how far the game has grown since its inception, though the lobby screen had changed in Season 10, don't think I showed it in this video but it looks slightly different then the one in Season 9. I got the game in Season 4 or on March 26th, 2021 so never got into the game when it came out back in the day unfortunately, must've been a blast to play with others back then, game didn't have a proper squad mode either, they added in Season 4. Once the Pass is complete I'd like to earn at least one shard for every map played, otherwise unless you win, you get absolutely nothing. They occasionally do that when the season comes to a close, but I wish it was standard. It gives some replay value.

This wasn't a problem when you could earn kudos back in the legacy era (Season 1 - Season 6) but yeah it definitely makes me want to play the creator made rounds more as I'll be guaranteed to get something whereas with the core modes I actually have to win otherwise I get nothing.

They will still add themes without seasons tbh. The only reason they did that is because of the switch to unreal engine. They did mention they will “add and change a bit more paint to the blunderdome”.

All they said was that the digital theme will stay for a bit longer and they'll add a lick of paint which just mean a new theme, maybe they'll update the UI to whatever the newest theme is or they'll just make one theme and never change it again, only time will tell what they'll do.

I support this change because the developers can’t do the season model. People don’t like this change because they only care about the hype of a new season that would last a week. In the past, we didn’t even have an assurance about what’s coming; now we do. I hate how everyone in this community can’t enjoy the game without it being played everywhere. That isn’t the game’s issue.

That's the positive aspect of updates, though the content is lacking compared to seasons which offered way more especially Season 8 and it was a short season as well. I personally don't care if the game is popular or not, it's doing fine for itself it does suck that it "fell off" but as long as its still here and being supported I'm fine with that. The main thing is whether the updates are going to be frequent or are we going to be waiting for months like we did in the season era that remains to be seen. I do miss seasons and its a big departure from its roots but if it makes the game better in the long run then so be it. I only hope they work on unvaulting the core rounds.

I haven’t played the game in the last 6 months or so. Are they still vaulting a lot of the rounds? Was a bit demotivating knowing that there is a lot of content but they choose not to make it playable and the rounds would get really repetitive

Solo's has 68 maps but 22 of them are creator made rounds so it's 46 unity made rounds. Duos no longer has team games which they got rid of in Season 10 but they recently added egg scramble to duos which is weird cause it's not supposed to have team games lol, it has 44 maps. Squad has 52 maps.

Another reason Fall Guys might move to Unreal is because of the recent news that Unity will charge devs every time their game is sold if it’s made in Unity, which includes F2P games. I think they said it would happen at a later date or they are rethinking it, but it would be good to go to Unreal if it does happen

i think vaulting is not that big of an issue anymore. When people think about vaulting maps they think about ss2 maps but other than that most maps are bad/team games, there are 27 vaulted maps and personally i only care about 15 of them so its not that bad

Personally wonder when we get to have a proper update besides QOL and Creative. While emphasizing on updating creative is nice and might become the "meta" it still does not interest me as it do not give any incentive in playing other players based map unless featured. As long content drought still exist, i dont think i can play fall guys that much till then. I gotten the golden dragon as well so I really dont have an incentive or other goals to play.

The only thing i never reallly liked about season 10 were the levels themselves, although they were made by mediatonic it never had the same feel as the older ones. Even if they started pumping 50 new maps a month it would never feel right to me and i wouldnt be able to play the game

Honestly, as someone who began playing mid way through og season 1 and has considered fall guys my favorite game for a while, this really is a startling change. Just knowing seasons and their themes wont be as important going forward, it really is changing the game in many ways. Hopefully we get the creator made rounds somehow on the level of polish from unity creator rounds.

One thing I think has kind of been the cause of Fall Guys not doing as well as it should is it’s too focused on Creative I mean nobody likes the Creative maps being in solo show because there isn’t enough in solo’s to make maps that standout and also with the creative maps shows I like them kind of because obviously they are good for crown grinding but for me playing those maps get way too repetitive I just think playing those makes the game boring just for the sake of getting closer to a crown rank. I like solos, duos and squads and because of the element of replay ability and the actual element of challenge in winning where with the creative shows it can be way too easy to just mind numbingly just win over and over I dunno what most people would think of this

Good point about the core modes (Solos, Duos & Squads) they offer variety which you don't get from the creator made rounds since their single round only. With the boring roundpool in the core modes I get the same maps anyways which to me hinders the replayability factor but if I don't feel like playing the creator rounds I'll hop on solos and usually have a good time but I'm not on it for too long but that's just me of course and nowadays I go to the creator made rounds that give crowns for a challenge cause oh boy are the sweats camping at those rounds lmao. But there are advantages to the core modes and disadvantages to creator rounds but I'm glad the choice is there as some might enjoy one over the other.

Shorter passes are great, but having no seasons is a huge loss. If they were to bring back seasons in the short pass format I would love that. One way to save the game is rotate vaulted maps every week and introduce new rounds every month. Focus less on creative rounds and make more original rounds

I don't believe they'll rotate maps every week, would be great but I could see them doing it every other month but it took them nearly 4 months to unvault 10 maps so there's that.

I do think one day mediatonic will start to add levels made by players into solo's, at the end of a round during the qualification screen a tag shows up on the bottom right which says "fall guys team" which makes me think it'll be a way of crediting whoever made that round. Honestly the players are making better rounds then Mediatonic nowadays, obviously the unity rounds are great but I do think one day we'll start to see some decent looking maps, hopefully some from mediatonic too.

I wouldn't mind it personally, but really a season is a major update which takes months to make whereas an update is usually perceived to have minor changes which the summer breeze update as shown us.

While I do understand that Unity was causing problems for the dev team, I think Creative is still not an ideal tool to make maps and switching to Unreal Engine would be much better decision. Especially now when Unity announced the Runtime Fee. Unreal Engine would give us a superior Creative as well. Just look at Fortnite.

I was going to mention the whole runtime fee thing but I recently saw they made some changes to it due to blacklash but I don't think they got rid of it completely right? I do think creative was a middle ground, but yeah switching to unreal would've been the ideal choice however it would far too expensive and you'd have to find people who use unreal or retrain your existing team which also would cost a lot of money.

Tbh epic games was fall guys’ downfall, they vaulted everything good and while I do support it being f2p it’s also annoying because the people who did pay for it (me included) got 2 cosmetics and some purple coins (idk what they are called) but epic games have stuffed it full of paid cosmetics whereas before, media tonic only put roughly 1-2 (to my knowledge) and one of them was a pack, but now you get bombarded with stuff you need to pay for like the battle pass, cosmetic packs you need to pay for, the new rainbow currency which is used for more or less all cosmetics instead of using crowns, epic games ruined fall guys.

That's a good question, I don't think so. After 10.4/Fall Force I'd say its been going down but Fall Forever aka 10.9 could be the one to bring it back up, but only if they deliver quality, I think 11.0 could bring in a ton of hype, maybe to a seasons levels.

I can see your point but, in most creator made rounds since most of them are 5 to 6 minutes if you're afk and everyone qualified in 1 minute we have to wait 4 minutes for the game to end when it could've finished in the first minute. Does suck in squads cause maybe your AFK teammate could come back in round 2, but this should've been a feature when the game released and not something released nearly 3 years later.

Could see Creative maps bring on par with unity maps but will take time but creative is aging better then I expected. Did make a few errors or mistakes and made a pinned comment correcting them like the Roll off example. Survival Update is hype but I still don't think it's reached the levels of hype like normal seasons did, doesn't mean it isn't great just not at the levels of excitement as a regular season but that doesn't help the game in the long term unfortunately. Good reminder on the FG mobile video, been swamped with other vids I gotta make, hopefully I can get on that as soon as possible.

The seasonal format is probably too slow with how frequent they want to update the game if that makes any sense. Seasons change nearly every UI In the game to a specific theme and with creative we don't have a specific theme plus they probably want to distance themselves from the old fall guys and removing seasons is probably the best way of doing that.
