Black racers are vastly underrated. The iridescence on their jet black bodies are beautiful….and if you find a chill one like that one even better ❤

Hey NKFHerping this will probably get buried but you are one of the best herping channels out there and you were one of the channels that inspired me to make my own. So thank you and keep catching snakes and turtles😊

Absolutely agreed & being up here in the Pacific Northwest I don't see nearly the variety of herps as down southern states so it's always a great adventure

That is a HUGE Pygmy Rattlesnake. I have seen thousands of these and I have never come across one anywhere near that size. Holy Moly what a beautiful snake.

I had to watch a BobFergusonsFascinature ad before this started. 🤑 That was a sweet GA pyg. 10:35 never get tired of those. When the snow flies here in AZ, I'll be watching this channel to get my herping fix.

The good ol flip, see wasps or yellow jackets and sprint technique at its finest. Kickin dust up like your life depends on it. Great video homey. I've been waiting patiently for a new vid to drop. That pygmy was MASSIVE. I hope all is well. Catch you on the flip side. Richard from Arkansas

Very beautiful Pygmy rattlesnake and nice kingsnakes, even if they don’t have their best colors before their shed. I didn’t know that aquatic turtles will stay inactive around stormy weather.

I don't know how many times I have accidentally un-liked NKF video because I forgot that I had already clicked the thumbs up. You tube needs to allow me to give more than one thumbs up. I don't know if rat snakes go back to the same location to have babies each year but I hope to see a video of the babies from that pine tree next year.

Man that Pygmy was a special snake... that 2 dot pattern was awesome. I have also run the yellow jacket race before! I would always find them in the breaker box of houses we were working on... Just trying to flip the breakers on to get some power and 50 angry yellow jackets are chasing me out of the yard... jerks.

I LOVE your videos! I love all the animals you're finding! The mouse looks to be a deer mouse--also called a white-footed mouse. It's a native species. I LOVE the butterfly at the end of the video. I don't know which species it is, but it appears to be in the fritillary family.

Where do the tin panels out in the fields come from?
@BeagleBellow4 ай бұрын
The panels mainly come from old barns or sheds. the guys place them and check them thru out the year to see which snakes are staying around the area.

How long do you wait before flipping the same tin again?
@NKFherping3 ай бұрын
Depends on the tin, some tin like tin well embedded by tall grass can’t handle being flipped as much without damaging the seal. Other pieces can be flipped without altering the microhabitat around or under the tin, and those can be flipped more often. Usually, I try not to flip the same piece more than a few times a year. But if you don’t have access to a lot of spots, you can flip more often and it won’t really hurt anything. Maybe once every week or two during spring and fall, and let it rest all winter and summer when the flipping is less productive. You just want to make sure it spends enough time undisturbed that snakes don’t feel in danger by using it.

hi I'm ROBERT I'm using my mom's phone right now. I don't know if you know but supposably when you are holding a snake you have to keep your fingers open and not closed because you do not want to squeeze the snake. is that true ?
@katiekane52473 ай бұрын
You need to get trained by an adult that knows what they're doing and can identify snakes. Never pick up any snake until an adult tells you it's safe. Even nonvenomous snakes can and will bite if they feel threatened.

I wish you could've seen the look on the photographers face today absolutely priceless.... I was doing a photo shoot for a swimwear brand and suggested to wrap up the 2025 swimwear for next summer we do a photo shoot with a non venomous species of snake and he literally took a tumble in the water and choked . He was sputtering, stuttering yelling Snake what snake? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

In all your years of herping have you ever grabbed a snake that you misidentified and it be venomous. If so how scary was it once you realized your free handling a venomous snake?
