I love what you said about having 3 meals together and having the kids help prepare the food that sounds amazing! I have 3 littles and we homeschool and I’m so encouraged by this! I need to slow down for meals and be more intentional like this

Oh wow I love the idea of reading a separate book with each child. How special

I've really enjoyed doing it. It happens when I can fit it in, so it's not always consistent weekly, but those one-on-one moments are precious.

How I loved your video! I love hearing you and your kids talk. Just the simplicity and honesty or your daily life. I very much enjoy the way you do morning time, your lessons are great. I love how your children get to spend so much time playing outside. You have a lot of space and that's such a blessing. We live in an apartment at the moment but we are building a house and we are very excited about that. It will be easier for our children to be more outside, I can't wait. :) I was wondering, do you and your husband plan regular date nights or moments where you can be on your own?

Thank you! It is nice to have space outside for the kids to play. We lived on a small property for 12 years, so I definitely appreciate more room. Nelson and I both have pretty laid back personalities when it comes to planning date nights or time alone. We don't do anything formal. We try to get out for dinner together every now and then and when we need time alone, we don't mind sending the kids to watch a movie or something so we can have some time together without them needing us. it's definitely easier to do this with having older kids.

I loved seeing how all of you got together for homeschooling. I sometimes struggle to find subjects that are appropriate and interesting for our children (ages from 4-12) I’d love to hear your ideas ❤

You remind me of Susanna Wesley who would find one hour each week to dedicate to one of her 19 children as their special day to have a one-on-one with her! Thank you so much for the encouragement that you always give and thank you for these wonderful videos that you are creating! You have helped encourage my life immensely and I appreciate you so much! May the Lord shower you with blessings, I know that he has blessed me through you!

Thank you for those kind words. I've read her biography and she was quite a woman! I have really enjoyed the one-on-one readings even if they are sporadic. Such sweet times! It warms my heart to hear that my content has encouraged another homeschool mom. It's what keeps me going. :)

I'm Lutheran, and would love to know which book it was that you were reading to your children? I may have to add it to our home library 😊

Have you shared your thoughts on sport ? I’d love to hear if you guys do outside sports activities as a family and if not why you don’t?

Yes! I have talked about it at around 5:30 in this video. kzbin.info/www/bejne/i2WsmqqGraqiarssi=Dj7bcF4vEg-NTxs_ The short answer is that our kids are play sports, but we always try to prioritize family and relationships first. We try to choose sports options that aren't so high intensity that they require kids to be gone several nights a week and weekends.

Stomach bugs are the worst. Just a little tip that helps me with this: concord Grape juice! Crazy, but it works - 1 glass (8oz) a day helps keep the bad bugs away.

Thanks for this, Sheri! I love getting a peek into your day. I was wondering, do you use Veritas Press instead of the Ambleside history readings, or in addition to them? I’ve heard you talk about Veritas Press before and it sounds wonderful; I am using Ambleside (Y2) right now with my oldest of five kids, and while I love the readings, it doesn’t seem to be strictly chronological and there’s no memorization involved, and I myself have trouble remembering details and keep it all straight in my head! Just curious to know how/why you do history the way you do. Always look forward to your videos ☺️

That's a geat question. I have used Veritas Press as our main history curriculum over the years and added some AO history readings in. Often, I assign them AO history readings when they are old enough to do it independently. Since AO is a feast, I am selective with which books we use. I only pick my favorites. I wrote more about this in a blog post I will link for you below. ourlifehomeschooling.com/2023/04/20/ambleside-online-homeschool-curriculum-for-a-large-family/ I hope that answers your question! I'm glad you enjoy my videos. Thanks for taking the time to comment! :)

I have four girls who are always drawing as yours do when you read to them. What do you do with all those extra loose papers?? 😅I toss them above my fridge so they’re forgotten about then throw them out about a month or so later. Unless they’re really special or worked hard on. But I always feel so overwhelmed at all the extra papers everywhere. There is only so much I can save. Do you have some advice? What do y’all do?!
@OurLifeHomeschooling
@OurLifeHomeschooling 2 ай бұрын
Haha, it's funny you ask. My husband and I have different opinions. He likes for them to have paper when they want and be as creative as they get the urge. I, on the other hand, get overwhelmed with papers everywhere and want to limit the paper handouts. So we usually end up either somewhere in the middle or going back and forth between phases of limiting papers and letting them use as much as they want. I guess we're not too consistent with it, oops! But I feel your pain. I've tried everything...fridge, putting them in a binder. I usually just save it for a while and then secretly throw some away hoping they won't notice.
