Do you have school daily? Where does co-op go please? My son is out of the house for 1.5 days a week doing farm and cooking. He is 14...I need to fit in more bookwork but seem to only fit in 3 days?

I absolutely LOVE this 😍❤🥰🤗 Soon as we can muster the funds together, I will definitely purchase this. But we just don't have it right now. Sadly, my husband, who is the only one working, was in a horrific car accident and barely survived. But by GOD's grace, he is still alive. He sustained broken ribs on both sides, mutilated his spleen entirely, as well as other severe injuries. So he's out of work and will be for a while now. Love Always and GOD Bless Y'all 💕🙏🏼

Canning with many little ones (8 and under) is a challenge. How I manage it in our family is homeschooling year round except for August and September because those are my biggest canning months. We go to fruit farms for apples peaches and pears, can beans from the garden and can all the pickles and homemade ketchup and pasta sauce. It's a mess. The kitchen is hot. The kids help a little bit, but not having to also accomplish any schoolwork during this time makes it doable for me. And there's something extremely satisfying about having the shelves full of canned food in the fall. Canned food is also like healthy fast food!

I so appreciate what you said about not all homeschool families looking like yours ❤ I would LOVE to be able to garden/can like you do, but it’s just not where I am at, and that’s okay. 😊 My father loves to garden and growing up he always grew green beans and I have fond memories of picking beans and snapping them with him. Now my kids do the same with him as he still gardens. I would LOVE to have just a small garden in our backyard. Maybe one day. Thank you for your words in this video. Ps: I thoroughly enjoyed my week of “homeschool convention” encouragement through watching some of your videos! I still have several saved that I want to watch as I can. ❤

This is a serious question… I see you have soapy water on one side of the sink. Do you wash all dirty dishes in the soapy side then rinse clean with running water on the other side? This makes me think it’s dirty water washing all the dishes? I’m curious because iv never seen this in person only on KZbin a few times now. And iv always done my dishes differently wondering if this method is better as you do save more water.? Hope this isn’t a weird question thanks!

I homeschooled my two kids. They both went to college, one left after two years to get married and the second one graduated college in 2006. I LOVED homeschooling and having my kids home. They grow up so fast and are gone before you know it. I canned when they were home, but didn’t have a garden until they were gone and we bought some land. I love gardening and am always learning something new. When raising your kids, the days are long but the years are short! God has blessed us with 8 grandchildren. Four are now out of high school. How fast the time goes. God bless you!

Weird question but - in the intro of this video, the cat is on top of the fire stove. I assume it is real and just hasn't heated up yet, right? I only ask because I'm on the hunt for an electric fake stove (that looks like the real one I had growing up ♥) and thought that just MAYBE it was fake. But probably not. If it is though, I would love the link to it, haha!

Yes, it is a real gas stove, not electric though. When it's turned off, the pilot light is on and keeps it warm, so he likes to sleep up there. I hope you can find what you're looking for!

I wish I had a good answer. The only thing that does help me sometimes is making double, so that we can have leftovers on another night. My husband jokes sometimes that if we went to only 2 meals a day, we could get so much more done, ha! Occasionally, my older kids will make a meal for us if I ask them, but I try not to use that to much. I wish I had some good solutions to offer, but it takes a lot of time at our house too.

How do you manage reading story book bibles to the younger kids and the actual bible text to the older kids? I started off with story book bibles with my first 2 kids, and they're reading the bible on their own now, and we just read the Bible during Bible time. However, i cant seem to figure out time to read story book bibles to my younger kids.

Great question! I don't try to do them both at the same time. We do the Bible story book at breakfast and read the Bible at dinner. (One for the younger, one for the older.) I read the storybook Bible first thing in the morning with my littles before the bigger kids get up. The older kids have Bible reading as part of their independent work. Does that answer your question? I talk a little more about how we do this in this video. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mHfHfq2abtaCpZo

Thank you! I can relate! For 14 years of homeschooling, we have had a babies and toddlers in Morning Time. It is NOT easy and many days, we had to just stop and try again another day. This notebook is the way we have made Morning Time work for multiple kids with a wide range of ages. I used to have a notebook of our Morning Time just for me to use, but the kids never knew what was next. Having a visual in front of each child has been a huge help. Also, I talk about doing Morning Time with babies and toddlers (and other Morning Time struggles) at 5:20 in the video below if that helps you! kzbin.info/www/bejne/fqeZmIlpnrapapI

Hi Sheri, Kay gave some helpful book recommendations on the blog post accompanying this video. One was the Harry Potter series, and I just wondered whether this is a series that your family enjoys also? We are thinking this one through for our family at the moment, so would love to hear if you have some feedback on it. Thank you
@OurLifeHomeschooling
@OurLifeHomeschooling 13 күн бұрын
Good question. Although I respect the positions of other Christians, we personally don't recommend or assign Harry Potter to our kids. I think JK Rowling's writing is brilliant, but I struggle with witchcraft and sorcery being central to the whole series. Without it, there's not much of a story. Having said that, when our kids get to a certain age/maturity level, if there's a certain controversial series/book (within reason) that they really want to read, we challenge them to read it critically, through the lens of Scripture and form their own opinions. I hope that helps you as you decide what is best for your family!
