Obviously this is an inaccurate depiction of what the Roman Army looked like during that period (Late Antiquity). The Lorica Segmentata had been out of use for about 200 years and the Romans’ helmets did not look like that in the late 4th century and they didn’t carry square scudums (shields). When people do movies/documentaries about Romans, they always make them look like Augustan romans, that's a shame. I mean, is it really harder to find a lorica squamata or a chainmail, and to give figurant proper Ve century helmet ? Spanhelm or Intercisa for example. That's quite sad. It's as accurate as picturing the Franco-Prussian war of 1970 with tanks, planes and submarines.

@alioshax77974 жыл бұрын
@@bogor1521 Romans ? Wisigoths ? Huns ? Persians ? I don't know much about Persians, but Romans were using chain mail or lorica squamata (steel scales, imported from the East). About the shields, oval one were the norm, exemt small round shields for the cavalery. Helmets changed as well, Intercisa and Spanghelm replaced the gallican helmet (they were easier to make), as well as Berkasovo helmets for the high ranked officers. The spatha (regular sword) replaced the gladius, as cavalery became more and more important in the late roman army. Just type theses names of google, you should find what you're looking for. Late roman history is extremely interesting.

@@Darth_Enigma yeah but as i know originally the term Vandalism is refer to "the destruction of roman arts and culture" like showed in the video so i think it wasn't total destruction.
@Darth_Enigma4 жыл бұрын
@@EukalyptusBonBon A quick search on my part yielded these results from Wikipedia: "During the Enlightenment, Rome was idealized, while the Goths and Vandals were blamed for its destruction. The Vandals may not have been any more destructive than other invaders of ancient times, but they did inspire British poet John Dryden to write, Till Goths, and Vandals, a rude Northern race, Did all the matchless Monuments deface (1694). However, the Vandals did intentionally damage statues, which may be why their name is associated with the vandalism of art. The term Vandalisme was coined in 1794 by Henri Grégoire, bishop of Blois, to describe the destruction of artwork following the French Revolution. The term was quickly adopted across Europe. This new use of the term was important in colouring the perception of the Vandals from later Late Antiquity, popularising the pre-existing idea that they were a barbaric group with a taste for destruction." Very interesting video, thanks for sharing. I would have only one little negative point to say, it is that you use the word France. It is anachronistic since the name comes from the Franks who invaded Gaul in the late 5th century with King Clovis I. France is the name given to the frankish kingdom built and expanded by Clovis I, notably at the expense of the Visigoths (cf. Battle of Vouillé in 507). All your video is about events happened before Clovis. For example, in the battle of the Catalaunian Fields, it is believed that Clovis' grandfather Merovech participated in the combats. So clearly, France should be nowhere to be seen, this land was named Gaul. Anyway, this is not the main point of the video, I want to tell you I really enjoyed it despite this little flaw.
@blackraidendragoneye Жыл бұрын
In fact, it is not a problem, since the difference is that the video mentions Gaul, but when it refers to France it is only saying the place of the country.
@Nettempereur Жыл бұрын
@@blackraidendragoneye I care a lot about chronology so, I do believe it matters. Any place refers to space and time. For example, to use the name Turkey/Türkiye, when you are talking about Anatolia before 11th century, is the same kind of mistake. It became Turkey/Türkiye only after Turks conquered these lands. Or if you talk of the USA when you speak of the Native Amerindian lands before European colonization.

Remember, the Romans who abused the Gothics were the christian Romans not the pagan Romans. Clearly the teachings of jesus did not reach their hearts and minds as yet. In fact the Gothics converted to the correct christian faith first which is Arianism which was established by Arian the bishop of Antioch of Syria in the council of Naecia in 4th century AD which never claimed that Jesus was God or Son of God. And it was the Romans who frocifuly converted them to cathicolism which is based on Trinity which was preached by a jew named Saul who converted to christianity 100 years after Jesus and never met him and claimed that Jesus was God and Son of God and rebranded himself as Paul.

Paul never preached about The Messiah being God or Trinity. Trinity was a foreign concept to the Israelites. Trinity is completely pagan and its origin is from Babylon.

@@annmaryjohn3258 wrong. The trinity is what Jesus said he is and what the bible says. It is 100 percent factual
