Thank you for this detailed designing/trimming video, including why you trimmed areas of the tree. It has helped me with our trees. Looking forward to followup videos on this tree as it develops.

Thank you for your comment! I'm glad you found the video helpful. There will definitely be more videos about this tree in spring. I also need to consider the possibility of repotting it, as it has been in this pot for three years

I would've left the bottom branches to grow out...way out. They need thickening. I'll only trim the top to ramify.

In my opinion, only the first branch on the left needs to thicken. I didn't let it grow but preferred to prune it because this way I already have the primary and secondary structure of the branch set. I will let the secondary branches grow freely this year so that the entire branch thickens. This way, I've made progress with the branching, and the result is the same. Moreover, in my opinion, this method creates more taper in the branch and the tree doesn't waste energy on unnecessary branches that I would later have to cut.

Should I pull the leafs off ??

Beech trees keep their dry leaves throughout the winter to protect the buds, to work on the plant I removed them by hand. It's important to me to let the leaves dry on the plant before removing them
