Hi Richard! To not have slugs..put in your soil ..coffee grounds and they will not come to your plants..Starbucks have everyday coffee grounds.. they give it for free..I did this trick and now I don't have slugs in my garden..and second coffee grounds is a good fertilizer for plants..
