These turned out so cute! I learned to sew when I was a teen, many years ago, and when I picked sewing back up, I decided to quilt because I could NEVER make sense of the garment sewing directions!

Hi Sheryl! Oh I feel your pain, though I've also seen some of those intricate quilting patterns and they are no walk in the park either! I'd love to make a quilt some day!

The crickets pretty much demanded billing and we know I have on going contractual obligation to put the cat in to every video or she'll revolt!

Thank you SO much for this video - pants still intimidating; I'll be coming back to this video to help hold my hand through the process... Fantastic process and production. Love your style of making. The final outfit is pitch perfect. Well done. - Cathy (&, accidently, Steve), Ottawa/Bytown/Pimisi

I'm sorry you took your Insta down - although, as a GenX Techno Luddite, I completely understand the online overload of it all... OK, typing thoughts as I watch... My working theory for the straps - buttonholes on both ends of the straps. The front buttonholes connect to the _inside_ of the front waistband. The back buttonholes attach to the _outside of the waistband. At least, that's how it can work in modern mens clothing... they hid the buttons inside the waistband to give the option of adding them... Although this pattern has the buttons as a feature... I, uh, augh... may I recommend looking on the ebay for the 1935/37 edition of "Simplicity Sewing Book" - the thing is a godsend (and practically identical to the 1940's version of the book, but much, much, much cheaper - add "1940''s" to the title of anything and the price instantly jacks up, humbug...). Beautiful singing & playing, by-the-by...

@@thatsallforthemoderngirl Not a problem. Thanks for keeping me company with insomnia. And, weirdly, this gives me a chance to play with the algorithms - I figure they boost viewership opportunities for every interaction. I learned a bunch and I love your editing style, just returning the favour... But, seriously, that Simplicity book is a gold mine. The Grannies everyday wear was constructed with what are now thought of as couture quality techniques. Makes me wish I had discovered thrifting earlier in my life - I would have had the chance to wear some (GenX, so just imagine what was on second hand retail back in the 80's...). See you around the internet. - Cathy {who shares an aging laptop with her husband, Steven, and we're both Techno Luddites muddling through without cell phones, thus the oddness... le sigh.}
