I found wide popsicle sticks at dollar tree….100 for $1.25. Just another idea for marker and has lots of room for date, seed type, ect.

That is another great option! Only issue is they only last for a season. Definitely a great cheap option for sure!!

I find my broccoli grows best in a more shaded part of my garden similar to where you have your vego raised beds and blue butterfly peas near the house.

How do you protect your greenstalks in a hurricane? Do you disassemble them? I am new to central Florida and have never experienced a hurricane.

I live in zone 8 Texas. I recommend you try Rapini smaller broccoli heads but good for warmer climates. I buy them from Botanical Interests. Rober cauliflower is supposed to work in warm ares as well. Baker Creek has them. Try growing Lovage. It does not stalk like celery, but tastes just like celery. Happy Gardening.

I’m in 9a and I’ve had the same problems with broccoli and cauliflower. My kyoto red carrots from baker creek were abundant last year, as well as my beets.

I live in zone 9b FL too and for cauliflower I grow Durgesh 41 from Baker Creek It produces big heads even late in spring when it starts to heat up. I also grow Arcadia broccoli but it is difficult to find seeds. It produces a big head and it keeps producing small broccoli heads after harvesting the big one.

@@SouthernDirtGardener I don’t have Arcadia Broccoli, I used the last seeds I had but I do have Durgesh cauliflower the seeds are a little old so I am testing their germination. If it is good, I can send you some.
