The Factory 2 - U by my house closed a few days ago and it is completely empty only the registers were left inside. We also had an Anna's linens in our mall but it closed a few years ago. We still have a few Fallas Paredes that are open but it's just crazy to see how they are closing so quickly. People would shop there like crazy but I never understood why since their items were sometimes of poor quality. (I'm from Texas)

I remember it used to be called Family Bargain in my hometown in Central Cali. It’s horrible inside but the workers were so friendly. I remember stepping on urine lol yes, urine inside the store. I took a pic awhile back and there was just mess every and aisles filled with stuff - probably 6ft worth of random stuff. It was a fire hazard and I’m surprised no one ever reported it. I like buying cheap lounge/gym wear there. I did like bargain shopping there but it smelled like rubber and it made me dizzy.

Former Fallas employee here and Christ, it was a nightmare of job. I was hired to help with the closing sales about three months before we closed. First of all, we had the same AC issues here in one of the northeast stores as well!! We had massive heatwaves and we were still expected to work as normal when it was unbearable. I had coworkers constantly getting sick from it. Second, the store manager was a total asshole. She put all of us down and also when we mentioned to her about how unbearable it was to work (without the ac) she would say shhhh. She’d have us work extreme overtime. Say we closed at 930, we’d be expected to stay till 11, which pay in mind we’re supposed to only stay half an hour after the store closes max. Once my assistant manager closed, then she made her stay till 3 am THEN EXPECTED HER TO OPEN THE STORE THAT MORNING. It was gross. The store condition was just as bad as these stores if not more gross. And while they did high outside help for liquidation signs, WE WERE EXPECTED TO DO EVERYTHING. It was a complete nightmare when we found out that we actually had to close earlier than the rest of the stores because the rent was going to run out on the first. They only gave us two weeks to clean out the store. TWO WEEKS!!! We weren’t even up to 50% off yet when it happened so imagine the amount of merchandise we had left. We had to bag it all up and ship it to another store.... and then when the last two days came, WE WERE EXPECTED TO DISASSEMBLE ALL THE FIXTURES. All while my manager took her vacation time that week, leaving just us employees and the assistant manager as well as another assistant manager from another store in charge of all that. The liquidator came in to watch us... but literally barely did shit. Our stock room was in a basement.. with a broken conveyor-belt, but yet we were expected to carry up EVERY SINGLE THING IN THAT STOCK ROOM. We had Huge items that even the strongest people on our crew struggled to bring up. Sure the prices were dirt cheep at the end (we had curtains priced at .50 each for example) but I would never EVER shop at that store or work for them again. The company 100% doesn’t care about their employees at all. It’s disgusting.

I use to work for a Fallas as well in the 2010s - 2014 . I felt that every Manager , assistant manager ( execept for two that worked and helped ) but the all the others were lazy and expected everyone to work and help keep your deparment clean and also if they had to pick up a deparment then they would HAve u clean their department as well because they would have to “count “ money .. all day ? No they would lock themselves in the office and just kick it in there and laugh ! Lazy managers !! Go backs was crap !! The store was always dirty !! I was so glad when I left the company :) found a better job with better pay ! And never looked back ! Also the District managers always thought they where above everyone else ! They’d walked in with a smirk and never say hi to their Peers ( Fallas employees ) bunch of Daisys!

They have several of the Fallas Paredes stores down in Dallas, Tx. They are geared towards the hispanic population. I went there one time with an ex girlfriend, and suddenly felt like I was inside a rundown K-Mart. The atmosphere took me back to the early 90’s. All I needed to complete the nostalgia was the scent of pizza and icee (Dallas k-marts had little ceasars and icee shops in them🥴).

Working in 100F heat without A/C. And the manager does one shift and says "it can be done" before going back to working in an A/C office and a golden parachute. Obscene. No way they pay their staff anything significantly above min wage, and would pay even less if they could. Another reason for UBI - so people don't have to be taken advantage of like that.

I always shopped at Fallas for mens Hype skinny jeans. They were only $12.99 but the best part was the way they fit. They're also comfortable and stretchy enough, durable, and fair quality to be honest. They always had a whole bunch of different colors too. When I found out the two closest locations to me were closing down, I rushed to both in one day and bought all the skinny jeans I found in my size in different colors at 40% additional. I was a store manager for one their stores in Los Angeles . The issue with this company was they operated in a very % designated for payroll. The owner Michael Fallas believed in always pushing all the inventory into the sales floor, they believed in using every space to make a sale which made the sales floor look cluttered and messy . Fallas paredes purchased factory 2 u after factory 2 U went bankrupt.

I live in Albuquerque and there are a couple of these stores here! The one nearby me is pretty disorganized. It’s pretty packed with stuff. There is often only one employee working there and they are often too busy at the register to organize the store. I feel bad for them because the upper management at these stores seem so incompetent. What’s even more strange is there is a lot of on sale merchandise that is right outside the entrance! Likely because its too packed inside the store! Also they don’t really care about it! Probably a lot of people steal it!

I rather buy at Walmart, goodwill, or go to the flea market. I'm glad it is out of business, the employees can do better. I can't stand stores like these because they are intentionally placed in bad neighborhoods, and are poorly maintained both inside and out which cause shopping strips to lose appeal. They placed a fallas next to a best buy near me and it got closed down, but people have broke into the abandon store and apparently easily broke the wall inside to get to best buy and rob it.

That "retail resurgence" you speak of, is never ever gonna happen. I can't tell you the amount of times I've gone to a store, and asked for something, and they didn't have it. Then they tell me "well I can order it online for you, and have it delivered to the store in 2-5 days." Why would I do that, when I could've just done that online myself without going to the store? And why would I drive back to the store to pick something up, when I could just have it delivered to my door?

@@I_WANT_MY_SLAW And half the time, the employees are completely incompetent and useless. They have no clue what or where anything is. You ask for something, and they have no clue what it is. And I have to search for it *on my phone* just to show them what it is I'm talking about. And then they will have no clue where it would be located on the store, and they say "check in aisle 3, we might have it there." Or sometimes they'll just say "we dont have it" because they're too lazy to go in back, and check to see if they have any. And not to mention the lines. For retail stores that are supposedly "suffering so greatly" they always seems to have a long line. There could be literally nobody shopping in the store when I walk in, I grab my item I want to buy, and then suddenly, there's a line of 15 people at checkout that just magically formed. Shopping retail it's really just a waste of time. Ordering online is so much easier.

That'll NEVER happen. I can shop from the comfort of my own home, (my own bed even!), comparison shop, read reviews, not deal with driving, parking, other customers, understocked shelves, waiting in line, rude and incompetent customer service and have everything delivered to my front door. RIP retail shopping!!! ⚰

It's not gonna happen Vinny. Time to give up the dream. There was never a time when people loved shopping retail. They did it because they had to. Online shopping didn't exist. So the only way to get a new toaster was to go to the store, and buy it. You're living in a pipe dream if you think people years from now will say, "Hey, remember when I had to get dressed, drive 20 miles out of my way, deal with large crowds, and wait in long lines? I should go back to doing that!"

I dont know why anybody would ever shop at these stores when you can get better quality stuff for the same price or less when you catch sales at the mall or online like last week I went to Old Navy and bought my niece three t shirts for $3 each and they are good quality and look good too. I always buy good quality clothes when they are on sale only and never pay full retail price.

I've seen these stores in the SF bay area. I went to a Factory 2U store once, was unimpressed. There's a Fallas store over in East San Jose on Capitol Avenue (near a Dollar Tree, and Grocery Outlet). It looks like a DD's Discounts. DD's is Ross Store's lower tier store, selling the apparel and merchandise that Ross buyers passed up for better quality goods. This likely won't be a destination. Thanks for the video. You have saved me a trip.

They opened a Fallas near me late in 2017 in what had been a K-Mart and late August or early September they put going out of business signs up. They were gone less then three weeks later. I only shopped there once and give me flash backs to an old McCrory's my parents visited way way back when. And for a new store it looked clean till you got close enough and just did not feel clean.
