Dont the party city executives know this is the greatest economy evaaahr.??

How often do people need to shop there? Even if you have small kids, not often. The stuff there has limited appeal. It's a wonder they've been in business for so long. The closest one to me is next to a Walmart. Shoppers only need to walk a few steps to find most of this stuff elsewhere.

I remember back in the 90s and early 2000s there was a tiny little party city location in a shared spot with a gas station in my town. I never went in there.

Those play places are gross feeling, they're squishy and slimy often time and they're too soft...but this really does remind me of the mall I grew up in and I worry about that mall now

I actually DID buy a state-specific souvenir when I went to a CVS while on vacation in Phoenix. It was a dad hat with an embroidered skeleton leaning against a cactus that reads "Arizona: It's a dry heat".

I'll miss looking at the animatronics and props around Halloween. Party City was another go to store gor that.

5:32 - You mean like when a mom and her two small kids stepped onto a down escalator at my local mall several years ago, and the escalator stopped as soon as they did? I still remember one of those kids crying "Momma"...

I didn't ever go to Party City and I don't think they had a location on my side of town it was on the other side of town in a stripmall area on Westage in Portage MI. If needed to get party things I'd go to Meijer a supermarket in the midwest in a handful of states that started in Michigan, Target etc. Yeah, workers should get notices when these stores close so they can find another job.

Physical media is lessening (no one I know has a DVD player anymore), but it'll always be around. It might even have a resurgence in 20 years like records are! I wish you had spent more time looking through the Walmart bins. Those are so nostalgic! ;D

I visited AZ back in October to see some family, and my cousin took me here during the evening. It was really unique and enjoyable. Glad to see it during the day though

I live in an area with a lot of mexican party supply stores. I love that they really seem to focus more on selling snacks, cardboard/paper decorations (rather than plastic), and the toys that they DO sell seem, to me anyway, like stuff kids are more likely to actually keep and play with, rather than just be entertained during the party, which seems like the focus of party city toys.

There are almost no cosmetics at CVS anymore, picked clean, nothing, nada. Two different stores in California I went to seem to be getting completely ripped off because the cosmetics are virtually "out of stock." I am guessing it is shoplifters, but I think the law allowing people to shoplift in California has been rescinded so I am not sure what is going on at CVS. I bought some hair products at CVS today.

I shopped there infrequently. Some of the items I needed were plastic cups, and they were priced about double of what Walmart sold them for. I ended up buying most of my plastic cups from Walmart. Party City was decent when I was looking for graduation party specialty items. They had some unique items that you couldn't buy anywhere else. I rarely order online from sites like Amazon. There are too many packages stolen after delivery. I still prefer to shop and buy items in a brick and mortar store. While I rarely shopped at Party City, I hate to see a resource like that gone.

You know why there is a helium shortage? Because space x bought it all up. They use it to help float the rockets because they in fact cannot launch on its own

As a Tucson native and local I didn’t know our malls were a vibe, I’m just glad there’s still a few standing! A lot of our best retail spots have disappeared with the emergence of online shopping. You would have loved El Con Mall when it was an actual mall. There’s remnants of the original building but now it’s an outdoor plaza of fast food shops and a couple large stores like Walmart and Target. Next time you’re in Tucson stop by Casa Video (it’s partially a bar now but still so special), The Loft, and Zia Records!

Regulations? Don't count on it. Wall Street criminal grifters run the show, the last thing they will get is adult supervision. Fraud is as American as apple pie. Change my mind.

CVS is so trash. Even their pharmacy is trash. I quit going when they stopped selling tobacco but I don’t even smoke anymore and still would rather go to Walgreens.

Its sad to think about mainly because this was my first retail job, and I left them 2 weeks ago because of them going out of business. I work at Dollar Tree now it's sad seeing the downfall of a store I once worked at, and also, it's a short time to 4 months, almost 5 it was fun whilst it lasted I hope it makes a come back (it wont)

When Private Equity takes over it is not long before the company they bought goes out of business. Then the PE vultures sell everything off and walk away with any value left in the company and the employees are left with nothing.

I go to my CVS monthly for prescriptions, I only buy their products when I get a coupon off my receipt for $1 off, $2 off etc. because yes they are overpriced but if you just want a soda while you’re there the coupons are good!

I actually used to work for Party City for a short time in 2016/17 I think? It's been so long. I kind of enjoyed it though, except for having to climb 20ft ladders to fetch things off the top shelves. (I have a crippling fear of heights.)

If they offered 7% off but just advertised it as 'tax free', they might be able to escape the brink of bankruptcy... That place just makes me want to run to the nearest library and open up a book!
