Howdy Railfans today we discuss the raise, height, and fall of the Transkentucky Transportation Railroad on this edition of Fallen Flags of America.
Bio: The Transkentucky Transportation Railroad was formed in 1979 and purchased a section of track from the Louisville & Nashville Railroad running from Paris-Maysville, Kentucky. The TTI ran as a independent Class III railroad from 1979-1991 when it was purchased by CSX Transportation and became a subsiary of the large Class 1. The TTI used a very interesting roster ranging from Two Alco S4s, Several General Electric U28Bs (Ex-CRIP & PL&E), Some General Electric U36Bs (Both Ex-Seaboard System & CRIP), Alco RS3ms (Rebuilt Ex-MP Alco RS3s featuring EMD Prime Movers), and Several General Electric B36-7s (All Ex-Seaboard System). Thankfully before it's demise in 2017 one of their U28Bs (TTI 255) was sent to the Illinois Railroad Museum of Union, Illinois were she still resides today.
