It was not about fixing though. Azhar is from Hyderabad, he uttered a phrase to Sidhu repeatedly ' ma - ki - kirkiri ' ( something like that) ,when Sidhu was upset after getting out. That phrase means ' what's the problem' .Sidhu was from Punjab he thought Azhar is telling something bad about his mother. After sometime Sidhu couldn't take it anymore and left England. He kept his mouth shut infront of BCCI committee when they asked the reason of his sudden departure. BCCI played a trick they asked Mahinder Amarnath who is also Punjabi to talk with Sidhu privately to put Sidhu at ease as they are from same state. After some persuasion from Amarnath, Sidhu told the reason. Amarnath burst into laughter and informed the BCCI.

Jadeja was run out only in the group league match against SL. India did not even bat against NZ in the match just before the final, due to rain. And in the final, let me emphasize Jadeja scored 25 of 15 balls, which was instrumental in getting a winning score of 300 plus, despite brilliant effort from Tendulkar-Ganguly both scoring a century in that match. Match Fixing is an art and if players are doing for sake of money I do not consider it wrong. Afterall there is no end to greed. 2000 onwards, BCCI slowly started to gain control over world cricket and became financially booned. Players were paid well which made them less prone to fixing but we saw Sreesanth, Ankit etc doing spot fixing even after being paid well by the franchises. In the IPL, FRANCHISE OWNERS TOO DID FIXING AND BETTING.

In the series that lele is talking about not even one match between newzealand and India was completed, neither did Azhar and Ajay got run out in that one match. In fact Azhar was batting on 53 when play was stopped. However in that match both ajay and Azharuddin were batting together. Especially with Ajay Jadeja on 17(46) while Azhar at 53(53) with only four fours, maybe they were executing the plan of Azhar taking singles while jadeja would eat up deliveries. While jadeja got run out in the previous match against Sri lanka first ball. . so maybe it's just a distortion of facts, not complete fabrication. Sachin did score a century opening the batting. India did in fact score their first victory on Sri lankan soil.
