Hi Dan - The Faller system is great - Magnorail is the icing on the cake though - hope my concept drawings are keeping that creative brain of yours thinking about a future inclusion of the system. Just a quick hint on curves with Faller. As there are so many types of Faller vehicles - long wheel base, short - tight turning circle etc, each handles curves in a different way and especially where there are rough roads not like the smooth ones you see in the German layouts. I use catcher wires on joins that have one or two separate wires that go from the join about 1-2ml apart and about 2-3cm long - depending on how bad the vehicle jumps, which then curve back and point the magnet back to the main wire which the vehicles automatically find. Same for rail crossings - they just pull the vehicle back on track and of course are hidden under the road so the public just see a driver correction his turn! keep up the good work - Clyde

klatchco56 G’day Clyde, great idea with the wires! Thanks for that! Yep thanks very much for the drawings, they are great, and I will certainly be adding the system on as soon as I can money wise, it’ll look fantastic! Cheers, Dan

Hi Dan thanks for the information it's really andy to know these things if I decide to do the Faller system on mind but we are a long way of thinking about that yet it looks like the heat as done quiet a bit of damage to your layout but I am sure you will be able and capable to put it right, I watch Rob's channel and like you he as a fantastic layout, well I have got my baseboard frame up and ready for putting the top plyboard on so hopefully I can then start getting some track down, I was hoping to get the top on this weekend but we have been away for three days up to Northumberland we had a great time, went on a steam train while we were there. Regards George. P.S hope to see your train running soon.

I run n cale faller bout a package of rare earth magnets added 1 small to the follow pin and a small weight to the back of the bus to keep really good connection. Great video.n scsle is a pain.

Excellent tips Dan, one day I will have a Faller system when I build my layout. Must take a lot of effort moving your layout to shows...Simon

Simon -Liverton Central Thanks Simon, yep you should give it a go! Yep a lot of work to take it to the show, but worth it to see the smiles on the faces at the show 😃

Hi Dan, I really do like the idea of the fuller road system I fI can get British looking vehicles. Some great tips too, thank you. Just got me thinking, when you described the corner where the bus sometimes comes off the road, perhaps you could put some crash barriers in that would protect the trains and the bus. Not only on that corner but also wherever the problem occurs. You mentioned that the bus nearly come a cropper onto the ground, again another crash barrier. At the end of the day an idiot in a car, not stopping would have the same effect as the bus loosing the wire in the road. Just a suggestion, if you like the idea. Gonna check out the magnarail system. I ride a bike so that would be a nice addition.

John Warner Thanks John, good ideas with the barriers there. And yep you would love the magnorail system, it looks awesome!

Straight connections make sense now you say it. And if possible the road system on a single board where possible. Do you have to use that thin wire? I am wondering if a solution might be for a thinker piano wire piece for certain corner to help the magnet find metal? Great tips Dan. Maybe you can have a small ditch the bus can go into, so it looks as if you planned it if it derails? Maybe with a photographer taking a picture nearby where it will crash? Ok not perfect but a plan B solution lol. Cheers, Laurie

Dan, this is very good information. I am watching. I did look at Magnarail. It is cool, but for now, I think i will just try to master the Faller road. Excellent information. Thank you so much. Seeing what you have done up close is really helpful. I am lucky that my layout lives is a climate controlled area with air filtration too. It looks like the best arrangement is to get around the curve first, then start the incline. Would you say a 5 inch radius for curves or less? Is that information in the literature? Thank you so much, Rob
@TheMisterdan016 жыл бұрын
Rob McCrain Hi Rob, thanks for that, glad it can be of some help. Not sure re: the exact radius but I must say that it is hard to track down information for the system. I had to do a lot of trial and error with curves etc. but the good thing is you can tape the wire down and test and if it doesn’t work move it again easily enough which makes it a great system to work with

Dan Lawrie Your video came up in my view list so I decided to watch it again. You had such extreme temperature variations it is a wonder anything worked after that. My how much has happened since those innocent times of old😂😂😊. Cheers my friend.... .........Rob

Camera gripper looked like something of war of the worlds on the track lol, put a prototypical crash barrier opposit the curve , on the wire pushing up through the surfice make a 1mm expansion gap in the wire at any place this happens You could even let the wire ends over lap
@TheMisterdan015 жыл бұрын
It did look like that LOL. Thanks also for the tips! Cheers, Dan

Hi Dan, I only have one circle with a bus running around, no sections on that layout, but I think it could help to ad a second or third wire aside to the main vire, that will lead the vehicle back to the main wire. An another option is to use magnetic stripes for the Faller Car System. www.amazon.de/10m-Magnetband-System-3x1mm-Modellbahnfahrzeuge/dp/B009A5AIUS Cheers Andy
