If nothing…the wise sages Josh & Erin have taught us time and time again that blind is best, when it comes to flights and samples. Overlooking hype and price tags, takes you to the essence of the whisk(e)y. I’d love Blind Box since my son is at college and my wife is whiskey adverse😂, so I have no one to routinely devise blind flights for me.
@markwanner36338 күн бұрын
Double blinds teach you so much-about different kinds of whiskey, about value, about personal preference, and more. Plus they’re often surprising and always fun, which is part of why your channel is so enjoyable.

Whiskey Vault ,(Daniel), did a great review on the Monogahela Rye style. He used the A Overholt rye. So it's a style of rye whiskey not the grain. Monogahela is a Pennsylvania river. One of the 3 rivers in Pittsburgh. Pronounced Mo non ga hay la. Great video. Love the blindbarrel vidoes.

I saved my partials (my first box, inspired by y’all) for a retaste with you guys. To me, this was a very well-composed flight…if not for me. Great notes for A, and this was probably my fave in this group. Honestly, your nosing notes across the board were similar to mine…to me nosing all four first the first time was just unusual and shocking…even the Doc Holliday, which I had had a bottle of before…which was a memorably complex bottle.
@89soonerМинут бұрын
I loved two of the samples in the next box (one a whole bunch), so I can’t wait to taste that one with you. And when the guys were traveling a couple of months back, I commented on their IG that I knew where they were from a photo in a warehouse. They told me to direct message them with my thoughts, and I was right…they told me the unique thing they put together there…not sure if it is in the box shipping later this week or in spring, but I am excited to taste it.

Blinds are awesome because you get to taste whiskey from an unbiased point of view. My wife has set up a couple for me and I’m always intrigued by the different tasting notes you get when you don’t know what you’re drinking. Love the channel. Keep drinking great whiskey and having fun!

Thanks for another great video. Doing blinds are the perfect way to remove bias from the tasting experience. Something like Blind barrels provides a cool opportunity to try things one would otherwise never likely try. If I saw the bottles you blinded today on a shelf, I would probably walk right past them without much thought as I would know nothing about them. Having a chance to taste them puts them on the radar.

I like doing blind flights for this simple fact that it takes all the bias out of it. They have also helped me hone my nosing and tasting notes. this is the first year that I have really gotten into taking notes on the bourbon/whiskey that I am enjoying.

The only reason I haven't signed up for Blind Barrels is the cost. Some months it'd be doable, but most it wouldn't - and it would *seriously* cut into what I buy here. But it sure sounds like fun, and I'm glad y'all have been publicizing it. 🙂 2:49 Either TRIT-i-cale or trit-i-ca-le. I first heard of it on the original *Star Trek* episode "The Trouble With Troubles." It's a hybrid grain - wheat and rye IIRC, but I'm too lazy just now to look it up. 🙂 5:24 Have y'all ever watched *Odd Squad?* Ms. O is addicted to juice boxes. 🙂 7:01 Ages ago I worked with a lady who lived in Lewisville, and sometimes I'd carry her to the house after work. That Unbendt rye has a fascinating mash bill.

@stuffandwhiskey *Odd Squad* is a kids show my granddaughter turned me on to years ago. Unlike most of those shows it doesn't talk down to kids, and it's hilarious. In the Christmas episode Santa Claus tells Ms. O that she's on the naughty list because she sometimes raises her voice - and she screams, "WHEN HAVE I EVER RAISED MY VOICE???!??" 😂

The Axe Hole from Paso Robles is only about 1.5 hours from me. I’m stopping there next time through! I’ve heard about Unbendt from another KZbinr and they have some nice offerings. I’ve also seen a few videos on the Doc Holiday and it’s always reviewed highly! Cheers!

Had a tasting all lined up at Liberty Pole with some old friends the night before our 50th high school reunion. But then hurricane Helene hit, knocked my power out for 8 days, put a tree on my roof and tore up the interstates so I couldn't make it. Very interested in their ryes.
