I don't see it calling out religion. I see him calling out those that kneel down to any power to have power. Once the power is given, people follow blindly like sheep and express whatever narrative that power deems. Once you come to realize the masses (especially those that have been beat down) do whatever is being pushed, even if one narrative contradicts the next, and you start to have a mind of your own, that power will turn to crucify you in an instant. At fist watch, I was troubled by this, but after watching with captions and studying each scene. It's actually very smart

Well explained. It's mainly focuses on ideology. The angels represent those ideology: good and evil. However, in this song, he explains( me trying to phrase it) that no matter which side you choose it has a negative outcome. When he did a blast that split both good and evil, it means that he will decide and make his own fate.

Very well put! True. Personally I still see parallels between what you shared and aspects of religion, as people will kneel to a higher power/religion/deity and thus find power themselves to now be a messenger/prophet, someone who speaks to the masses on the deity’s behalf. I often see people following blindly without studying scriptures for themselves or seeking God for themselves. There often seems to be a longing for a mediator. (Not saying religion and faith is a bad thing). I just see parallels between the search for power and perhaps by doing so in our own finite ways, trying to come to terms with the lack thereof.

@@rosalieelliottofficial I agree, people will interpret things based on their beliefs. As a Christian, it would be easy for me to view most of what Ronnie does as negative, but I can see a very useful tool in his messaging. I think he's brilliant

The crown of thorns is tattooed on his head. The crown doesn’t disappear he’s taken it and cannot escape it. I also didn’t see it as a battle with religion I saw it as a way of being crucified for his beliefs and being a self sacrifice to opening the eyes of others. So many psychological layers and displayed in such a dramatic powerful cinematic experience with the musically beautiful…… just chefs kiss all around. I’m blown away and so proud for him.

Also just thinking about it. The black man on his knees awakens as does the woman both of whom have the cattle numbers in their ears as part of the sheep herd and as they awaken so does he and he begins to turn and fight the power. He is then crucified. Even more establishes the fact it’s about fighting the power. All forms of power I believe as he’s layered so many that are now laid upon us in society.

Almost like this has happened before, in the eyes of 500 eye witnesses. Jesus Christ our lord and savior. Roman politicians kept verbally attacking Jesus and trying to twist his words and have him arrested, all while Jesus was performing miracles and helping others, to the point of the Roman Government arresting him and putting him on the cross, and ultimately crucifying him.

There are lots of celebrities and famous people in the world today. Lots of actors, rappers, singers, musicians. VERY FEW actual artists. I think that's why Ronnie stands out. He's an actual artist creating timeless art. In 10 years people will still understand and feel what he's expressing. I think that's why we're all shocked at our emotional response, even when music makes us feel something, it rarely touches people so deely and drags into focus thoughts we couldn't put words to, or feelings we didn't realize were simmering underneath. Ronnie creates experiences that touch the soul.

After he become the king people started to act like him, folow him, pray to idols of him, ad he who know who the true rulers are wanted to burn the world (to stand against them, to start a revolution). But all these people were deceived(brainwashed) by these dark rulers, and those who once prayed to him as a god, crucified him. Same like in real life, if you have fame, power, ambition, knowelege and go against system then you will be "crucified" by same people who followed and listened to you (with some help and manipulation from system).

Even without the visuals, the second he ramps up to the high notes it becomes a punch in the heart. Personally I like when any artist puts their own experiences into their music so that everyone can feel like they can relate to something in the song. I relate to this song particularly when he sings about acknowledging and facing his flaws, which I think a lot of people don't like to do. It can be so hard to do.

Finally I saw someone else but me get emotional during this video. The call out to “Escape the Fate” his old band was wonderfully done. The song is called prequel because we see the suit in the end that he is wearing during Ronald and Watch the World Burn. Both of those videos are him in the fight that he is essentially joining in after this crucifixion in Prequel. I think he’s portraying that has allowed himself to be hated and trashed by people for years and this is his comeback where he destroys everyone and rises above. It’s very clear he’s doing just that by becoming one of the most successful artists in the scene today!

So he is one of the most controversial artists out there he gets a lot of hate from other artists but in my opinion that's projecting their own shortcomings. I watch a lot of people react to FIR videos because I love to see how different people react differently to such powerful art like Ronnie's. But I rarely watch what the reactor has to say after the video is done. I watched all of yours, multiple times. I can feel your connection to this song by the way you describe what it means to you, and your passion and emotion. These are the kinds of reactions I look for but rarely find. Thank you. I heard a question asked to a speaker on stage one time: “The depth of my consciousness makes me suffer. Is it a blessing or a curse to feel things so deeply?” My perspective is that feeling- good or bad- is a blessing. Because almost nothing that we know of ever gets to feel.

Yeah, I think it was like taking ownership of that phrase. The only way it was a dig was that they kept that name which may mean more to him than it does to him. Like, here in this song, he's showing how he's escaping his fate, and it has real meaning to him, while it's just a band name to those other guys. So I can see how it feels a bit like a dig, but to me it seems more like he's owning that phrase and showing how much it still means to him.

The songs are about what they are about, but the videos are telling a connected story. The order for the story is Prequel > Voices in My Head > Popular Monster > Ronald > Watch the World Burn > Last Resort. Prequel: He is some kind of savior figure with supernatural powers in another dimension/reality/universe/whatever. He is initially embraced by the elites of their world and raised to a high status. They even construct giant statues of him for the people to worship. Eventually he begins to walk in the markets of the city, seeing the world from the perspective of the poor and marginalized. He realizes he's on the wrong side, and begins to encourage the people to awaken and take control of their lives. The elites who once embraced him as a way of ensuring their own power are now horrified that he is beginning to teach people the truth. They seize him, and have him executed on the cross for sedition while the people pack the arena and cheer for the free macabre entertainment they are being offered. Enraged by the betrayal and in agony from the crucifixion, he attempts to destroy the arena with his laser eyes. He fails as he weakens and then dies. His soul is freed and the angels of Heaven come to claim it, as do the demons of Hell. Since he belongs to neither Heaven nor Hell, he rejects both realms, destroying their minions. Refusing to be carried into the afterlife, he arrives in Purgatory, and follows a beacon that leads him to a portal through which he can be resurrected in our world. While there he sees a vision of a suit of black armor. Voices in My Head: Now reborn as a human in our world, he can no longer remember his past, his powers or his purpose. He has strange fragmented glimpses of memories that make no sense, weird powers that work poorly, randomly or not at all, and voices in his mind saying all sorts of insane things that cannot be true. He grows to adulthood believing himself insane and unworthy. In an attempt to get his life right, he enters a prison (one he has created for himself in his own mind,) and there tries to quiet the voices by killing them off one by one. In the end he fails, realizing that the voices are a part of him and that he must accept them. This epiphany opens the door to his mind prison, and he is released. Popular Monster: His mental issues and isolation lead him to have legal and criminal issues. He appears in court but then blacks out and loses time. When he awakens he finds himself standing in the center of the room and discovers that every person present in the court has been brutally murdered. He knows that he is responsible, but does not know how or why. He seeks help from a therapist who becomes alarmed at what he is being told and leaves the room to call the police. Ronnie runs from the police but is cornered by a SWAT team. He is overcome by emotional distress and transforms into a monster that quickly murders the police. A quiet, child like part of himself (played by his real life daughter, Willow) manages to calm him, allowing him to turn human once again. Once again he cannot remember what has happened, and he is forced to run. Off camera (between the end of this video and the start of the next,) he is captured by the authorities. Ronald: After being captured, he is drugged and restrained within a SWAT van taking him (presumably) to some kind of secure lockup, or perhaps a lab where he can be dissected (invent something that feels right to you and just go with that.) He breaks his restraints, kills the cops in hand to hand combat, then escapes the van when it crashes. He is pursued through the city by various groups, including a weird occult coven that tries to perform a ritual on him. While they were most likely trying to steal his powers for themselves, the ritual backfires, restoring many of his powers and memories. After escaping the cultists, he survives a variety of attacks until confronted with an armed helicopter. He transforms once again into the monster, leaping aboard the aircraft. He kills everyone on board, resulting in a catastrophic crash in which he himself is killed. He is immediately resurrected on a plane of Purgatory where he meets some kind of divine messenger (once again, feel free to make this guy whatever you want him to be.) The messenger gifts him a set of black armor (that first appears as a vision in "Prequel,") explains to him that the world is fucked, and charges him to take action. The messenger then restores all of his powers and memories, along with his life, before then sending him to confront an arch-demon. The battle between the savior and the devil begins. Watch the World Burn: After defeating the devil, the savior returns to the material world and becomes a super hero. We see that he has boarded a military aircraft that was about to nuke the city below. He has already killed the crew and now causes the weapon to detonate at high altitude as he jumps clear. Once on the ground we learn that people are beginning to betray him once again to protect their own power. We see that he is beset by snakes (figuratively,) and is being followed around by the media who seek to get evidence that the elites can use to discredit his efforts. We then see him on a stage, addressing legions of soldiers. This is not real, and just represents the way the elites are attempting to portray him to the masses...as an evil dictator in the making. The scene changes to the inside of his mind where he carries on a conversation with a portion of his conscience (which he plays himself, wearing heavy makeup and prosthetics.) Think of how you have an angel on one shoulder representing your conscience, and a devil on the other representing temptation. The character he is talking to is that devil sitting on your shoulder. He tries to figure out how to handle all the nonsense but Temptation doesn't want to hear these doubts and weaknesses, and so kicks him out of his emotional-mental state and back into reality (his patient attire is replaced by his black armor as he comes to his senses.) Back in the real world again, he suddenly has an idea of where to start in order to get things back under control. This is represented by the scary nuns, and leads him to visit a church that is opposed to him and everything he stands for. He tries to talk to the parishioners and the priest, but nobody will listen and the priest attempts to exorcise him. Realizing that he knows how this all ends (as we saw in "Prequel,") he decides he's not going through that again. He tells everyone that everything they know is a lie, then uses his powers to set the priest on fire and seal the church exits, trapping everyone inside. He then uses his eye lasers to kill everyone inside the building before detonating like a human rage bomb, destroying the church, the city and probably a third of the entire planet. Last Resort: Walking alone through a destroyed and depopulated city (see the events at the end of the previous video,) he reflects on his life, his isolation and his own mistakes. Deciding to correct the damage he has done, he uses his powers to restore the world and begin its healing. Obviously this is all open to interpretation, but hopefully my description will help you navigate the video imagery.

It's an incredible opening to his album as it touches base with each of his songs. When the song mentions "twist the knife, your sacrifice will break the curse" I take reference from Watch the World burn where he sings "The pain inside is the fuel that drives...The fear is what keeps you alive. Break the fucking chains, take back your life". Thinking for yourself, questioning and being willing to speak up against the norms and 'burning down' the societal/cultural/political structures that you are raised in is a painful process; people turn against you, they become offended; you can feel alone, lose friends, get canceled - a lonely voice in a world that's pushing their own agendas. This is Ronnie's story and his mantra/call to action moving into the album to listen, consider and grow.

Usually when someone goes on and on about the videos, I shut it off. This time I watched it all the way through, and I do not regret it. Beautiful interpretation. My belief is that art is in the eye of the beholder, which means (at least the way i took it lol) that art is always interpreted differently to each person. What one art means to one person, means differently to another. The crucifixion in this video to me means hes constantly crucified by others for his beliefs.

Rockies first band was Escape the Fate. In the end of the video you see the black suit like a super hero suit that he wears in other videos like Ronald and watch the world burn.

Have you tried to watch their Videos in context? Prequel is the „prequel“ to „watch the world burn“, „last Resort“ and „Ronald“… it‘s a music and mini-movie Journey

Great content Rosalie!! Thank you for the long review. I would add something that few people is talking about.. Seems to me there two ronnies: one is diying on the cross and the other one at the end of the video just reached probably the laser hitting the ground sent by the first one before dying in the cross. So that other Ronnie is on another planet…. so first one signals the second where the cave is. Maybe is the same person (but that reference would be too heavy).. anyway… This band is on another level. Keep it up!

Those are Roman soldiers placing the crown of thorns on his head. Is being in the pilot's seat a reference to Pontius Pilate? He then preaches to the followers, the sheep, trying to wake them up. He is not claiming to be Jesus. He is using the crucifixion story metaphorically as to what he's been through and what is happening today. You nailed all of that.

@rosalieelliottofficial I've felt like this for a large portion of my life. Dealing with rage issues, temperament, anger, a very dark side, and just being sick of everything. The older I get, the more it wants to play. The more I want to watch it all burn.... Daily struggle. "You don't wanna see the diabolical side of me that never stops, it's volatile"

Anybody else catch the "Watch the World Burn" reference when he says "... searching for a higher me, in the sky in the pilot's seat..."? 😏 there's also reference to the Roman Colosseum, just Google images of it ❤

You should see "Watch The World Burn" if you haven't seen it yet. A few things worth noting: Before he was incarcerated, Ronnie started a band called Escape The Fate. They fired him when he went to prison. So, he put together a new band called Falling In Reverse and wrote a bunch of songs right there in prison. He also achieved sobriety there, he's still sober. Anyway, there's a line about pain and he goes "you could say I escaped my fate." It's like a call back . He does that a lot. It keeps us on our toes. The other thing is the suit at the end, it's the suit he wears in "Watch The World Burn". He always puts references to other songs in the song he's singing, like the UFO's from "Zombified" show up behind the sharpshooter Ronnie in "Voices In My Head." It's like that, you can't just listen to the music, you have to to watch the videos to get it all. Now, if you want to understand Ronnie better, you need to listen to an old song called "Mother". It was his last song with ETF. If you want to observe young, emotional Ronnie and what makes him...him. Watch this particular one, Falling In Reverse - "The Day I Left The Womb", Grand Rapids 26/05/15. Terrible picture quality, start at the one minute mark. That's where Ronnie starts to sing. It's a short song.

I take this as how egotistical he was when escape the fate began then the idols he built to himself and the fans built around him collapsed. He went to prison though the actual shooter in the crime did not so in essence he was the sacrificial lamb in that case and abandoned by his band. The suit he found in the tomb was the one he wore in watch the world burn. The way I understand it the songs on his album go in order and reflect his journey from conviction to prison to finding himself and the finale is rebuilding with last resort. Also in the angel scene, it’s a throwback to losing my mind trilogy and an overdose scene where he’s floating up. It’s all quite genius.
