The conflation of eros (romantic) love with Agape (unconditional) love is downright creepy, guys. I love your effort and intentions, just not the words you choose to deliver the message. The phrase "Falling in love" with God/Jesus conveys romanticism and thus thoroughly unbiblical. When Jesus asked Peter "Do you LOVE me?..." in John Ch 21, He never used EROS, but instead it was AGAPE, AGAPE, PHILEO. The Church may be the "Bride of Christ," but that is purely metaphorical, just like the words Lamb of God, Lion of Judah, True Manna come down from Heaven, True Shepherd, The Door, etc. As Christians, we do NOT "Fall into" anything. A decision to follow Christ is more like "swearing in" at the Military processing center....it's a serious commitment (Luke 9:23), at which point we become adopted into His family and servants in His kingdom. Romantic imagery or sentiment is out of place in this matter.

Romans 5:20 -- sounds like falling into grace with God. Allot of people find God who know they are totally in darkness and in sin, and know 100% if they were to die they would split hell wide open and don't have any control over their lives THEN THEIR TESTIMONY IS God reached out to them and changed everything. In terms of romantic allusion there, I don't see an issue with that creative type of expression. You just have to look at nature and what God has created, particularly the Autumn when the leaves have brilliant arrays of colour, to see that "side", or flowers in the summer. Why would God make such things if there was no level of artistry with Him that would be considered romantic for all to appreciate? Also, the closest type of intimacy in human experience is that of love between a man and a woman. In fact, marriage is used in scripture as an example of Christ and the church, or defining His love for His church. You also have the Song of Solomon making allusion to the church as well. Therefore, I don't see the use of romantic concepts as un-biblical.

Creative expression....or taking creative license with God's Word? Sounds like more of the latter. One of America's most renowned Pastors, James McDonald, of Harvest Bible Chapel, in Chicago, and "Walk In The Word" Ministries, was the first person I heard mention this topic, and I totally agree with him about it. jamesmacdonald.com/ www.harvestbiblechapel.org/ He said he will not allow songs, with lyrics like this, to be sung in their worship services. Because it confuses the listener, and is a gross misuse of the words the Bible uses to refer to our love for Him. It's not eros love. It's Phileo or Agape and there is a world of difference. So stop trying to find excuses to confuse romantic love with child-to-Father like love. It's really creepy to hear people attempt to express love for our FATHER in Heaven in romantic terms. It's just wrong and should stop.

If what you are saying is correct then Song of Solomons should be taken out of the Bible and any expression in the Bible that makes an analogy of marriage with Christ's relationship with the church on that same logic. Why would you assume that this is eros love? The lyrics say that "I want to love you like you love me". At the least that is agape love since that is how God loves us. In fact, the way I read this song sounds like agape love from God reaching out when someone was sinking deep in sin. Look at some of the expression of the worshipers in the audience after the bridge and the look of joy and peace in their eyes that comes from being SECURE in the love of God. (i.e. about 2:20 )

See, that right there just shows how people make such gross errors with God's Word, using their own standards for Bible interpretation (hermeneutics). The Song of Solomon IS NOT analogous to our love with the FATHER, but about PURE LOVE BETWEEN A HUSBAND AND WIFE. Hello? God is OUR FATHER WHO ART IN HEAVEN....not GOD, OUR LOVER... What part of that needs to be revisited?

Then why is the church called the bride of Christ? Why is there a marriage supper of the Lamb? Why does Eph 5:25 say "Husbands love your wives as Christ loves the church?" Maybe these parts? In case you didn't notice, people inside this video are actually worshiping God (see 2:20 ) Their hands are raised and they look happy knowing that they are doing that because God loves them. Obviously people need to be born-again and have a real encounter with Jesus to relate to this song otherwise it could be misunderstood. To say some people can't relate their encounter with Jesus, or being born-again in terms of falling in love is to be extremely narrow minded as to how some people come into faith. I'm sure you have your unique experience or way of coming to faith as well that may not sync or resonate with this, but that doesn't mean everyone is like you. People from all walks of life get saved in different ways.
