This makes me think of snipers picking off garrison levies while Parrott guns punch holes in the walls and naval artillery turns half the fort into a lunar landscape.

@@wenhao9543 The term "sniper" was well in usage by the time of the Boshin war. The units are called sharpshooters but the term sniper is used interchangeably.

The best way I could describe this music is the feeling of "the calm before the storm, but you *know* there's a storm coming, you don't just know it, you can feel it."

This song is so powerfull, it gives you those "before the storm" vibes, when the defenders are lying at the ready, waiting for the enemy forces to charge their frontlines.

I think the song symbolises the industrial revolution in japan. The feel of sudden change.

Without artilleries, enemies are harmless if you keep your troops at the very inner castle

@@ervanaugusto791 true. I had two units of line infantry each, mostly imperial guard, form a v to create kill zones when the nagaoka attempted to scale the walls.

The bit from 3:30 to 3:42, right before it picks up, is just so maddeningly good. You feel as if something momentous and poignant, perhaps event tragic, is about to happen.
@malinsky64346 жыл бұрын
When this music plays while moving my units, i first let them walk, and then start making them run when it comes to this part 3:40 for extra dramatic effect, gives me the chills !

The microtonal emulation effort on the plucked part is well-appreciated, Jeff. Especially the two stray detuned notes found between 2:20 and 3:20. Honestly became the pinnacle of my listening experience for this piece over repeated enjoyment.

It's worthless without the buildup. Come on, man. No point to timecode it. Don't be rushing art when its entire purpose is to tease you into a climax.
