On this video, I'm trying to harvest a couple of invasive marsh rats for food!

Man you earned them them nutria. When I can't use a .22 I use BBB steel shot in the 12 ga. Them rats are tuff. Definitely one of the best tasting wild game out there. And I'm with you on respecting the animal. Don't just stack bodies use what you can. Ethical kills and waste nothing.

Back in 90's we were getting $8.00 a tail. Plaquemines parish. Cook up for Bar friends as appetizers . Patrons loved it. 😍

Make a Rue with juices, turn into gumbo, add corn cob, cut 1/4 inch. Oyster mushrooms or more thicker ,turn out a delicious stew. Add shrimp or crab, delicious

Nate do you think 6 shot Steel from a 20 guage or 7/1/2 shot lead would work for Nutra Rat or 6 shot Steel Heavy Upland Game load in lead?

@CraigArbet man I used 7 1/2s on this hunt and it was barely lethal. I highly recommend at least 5s. 6s will probably do the trick at close range

Could you get the crew together and go out for nutrias. Have a big cook off afterwards. Try a .22 if you can’t find any heavy shells. Please shoot non tox On the marsh.

Realy like your Video again, thks for sharing. Really intereting how similar it is to my area. We get also some Money for the tail and i try to use all i catch. I will try your way of cooking next time. I usually make mince or sausage from the nutria.

We don't have a nutria problem here, but if we did id be doing what your doing. I feel the same, if its edible even a nuisance animal can be turned into a fine meal. People have gotten to uppidy about the meats they eat. Cow, pig, and chicken it seems is what they have been conditioned to eat. They put their nose up to quick to eat outside thier meat box.

I’ve shot rabbits with 7 1/2 and had no problem. These nutria are a little tougher. I was a little worried going in but now I know. I did a nutria video last year and everyone got onto me for using too big of a round 😂

Yeah it does, sucks I have to use it where I was hunting. Nutria have very thin skin but thick hair. Bad decision on my part going with the finer shot. Should’ve gone with #2 or even BB shot.
