@StanleyPinchak2 жыл бұрын
Fallon has just been attacking the Ezekiel choke. She still has head control with her left arm and has moved up to a high mount position. She could go back to attacking the Ezekiel, or attempt to isolate an arm. Either way the best defense at this point is to try to bring the arms close to the chest / neck. Bridging will be less effective due to the high mount, but it may be enough to force Fallon to release the head control. Without the head control, the Ezekiel threat goes away and the defensive arms can then be used to frame hips to begin shoulder walking Fallon back to low mount, where more escape opportunities are available. Unfortunately, this plan goes out the window as Fallon gets wrist control and advances her right shin over the bicep pulling up on the head to help clear the rest of her leg for mounted triangle. Sometimes you are better off not rolling through on the mounted triangle if you can keep your arms tight and move enough to make locking the triangle difficult.

5:10 Bullshit. You can't pull a certain percentage of strength from everything you do. So if you try, it's always extremely skewed to certain situations. And even if you could do that, it would not mean that you can then simply put your strength to 100% and apply your training there. Because suddenly you find yourself in completely different situations. We don't pretend to have less flexibility or stamina while training, but for some reason people think they should do roleplaying when it comes to strength. You're basically aquiring wrong habits, like practicing a golf swing at the wrong distance.
@zafarhashmi21702 жыл бұрын
Not in the context of Jiu Jitsu. When people take about using strength in BJJ they mean you are using to to escape or advance in position due to your opponents lack of skill. For example it is possible to pull your arm out of an armbar with strength if your opponent doesn't have the skill to keep your arm locked in position while attempting the move. Against a more skilled opponent you won't pull your arm out in time. By not using strength you are forced to use the correct armbar defence which protects your arm from being hyperextended while you slowly pull it out.

I'm sorry to be critical, but putting a VS height and weight seems pretty dumb. Size matters when it applies to strength, and weight being applied to you. It's not. The intensity here is no different than if the person was 5'5 125 pounds.

Depends who you train with….many years ago i was privileged to train with the 2xworld kickboxing champ (Chris van rensberg) and Tokkie Pieterse (5x S.african champ) , i was a beginner,they were very patient ,they slowed down their sparring techniques and slowly , gently built me up to speed. Fantastic guys. Contrast that a few years later to some arrogant black belt JKA guys,no titles btw, who tried to strike me as hard as possible…thanks to my prev training they failed …i left in disgust

I'm old, it makes me remember back in the early 90' when we thought grappling was useless and kick boxing was top... There was a fight between a Muay Thai champion and a kick boxing champion. The thing is kick boxing champion leave the ring semi inconscious and screaming Muay Thai, Muay Thai!!! I had a girlfriend she was a judo black belt, she had beautiful long curls in her hair. One day I started pulling her curls straight as I said boing boing like it was an spring coil. I also said :You're just a girl and you do just judo. What are you going to do, to hug me??? Next thing that happened. I was screaming: Muay Thaaaai!!!
