Jimmy's interview with Russell gets a little crazy when they try to mix random words, like "grape nuts" and "bunghole," into a casual conversation.

@israelredden
@israelredden 9 жыл бұрын
***** if the point is to NOT sneak words into a converstion...if the point is to make it obvious what the word on your card is so that Jimmy can have a good fake laugh about it, then those should be the stated rules. Russell just followed the rules as explained to him, assuming it was an actual game/competition. And, Russell's version where it is a game is much better imo
@lmbgemini
@lmbgemini 9 жыл бұрын
***** I thought his frustrated look meant he had no idea what words Russell was sneaking in. If he wanted to know the words so it would be more funny he should somehow make it more clear. If it had been me playing I would have done it just like Russell because that's how Jimmy explained it.

Few people know that Russell Brand is a legitimate wordsmith. He's got an honorary degree from a prestigious college because of his phenomenal way with the English language. Playing word sneak with Russell Brand is like playing hide the penny with David Blaine- chances are you're just not qualified. Either Jimmy didn't know who he was dealing with, or he's a smart enough host to know that Russell would spank this game and show people his amazing talent. Russell is one of the best writers of the day and far more intelligent that most people know or give him credit for. I love you Russ!

***** I guess. Personally, I get why Russell played it the way he did. If anything, that's the _only_ way I can see this "game" being fun. Im going to guess its part something your born with, but also confidence goes a long way, as well as intelligence, being extraverted (where you think as you speak, as opposed to introverted where you think THEN speak), and just sheer talent. I read everyday, I meditate everyday, I used to do drugs everyday (just going by the examples people posted in reply to the question) but Im super shy, not confident with my speaking (in front of strangers). when I am with close friends (which are very few) and family, and on a topic I feel knowledgeable in and confident in what I know, I am able to speak like him. when it's a topic i'm interested in I can go on and on, never missing a beat or fumbling a word, and wear people out. but to be in front of a large crowd and still be like that, that's talent.

The other amazing thing about this is he was obviously just trying to change the subject to The Roots so that he could talk music and work in mambo easily. Then he got sidetracked giggling about the game and shifted gears into Jimmy playing him like an instrument which is even more creative. I feel like you could do an analysis of Russell's thought process throughout this entire game and it would be filled with the most clever problem solving.

+fenknife, try writing. With talking you have to think of words on the spot, which takes practice. With writing you can go back and exchange words. You'll start to get the hang of which words are interchangeable and how they fit into sentences.

YsoSerious I thought Ricky Gervais was brilliant as well! I loved Russell's version but the thought of Gervais using Shaquille O'Neal's name to tell Jimmy he had recently gone to an Irish pub still has me in stitches. What I think Gervais did really cleverly was that he knew that we all knew what the word was and he was trying to make us laugh rather than playing the game.

@@jodiegordon5559 You're right, he didn't go out of order. And Jimmy lied bc with other guests they WERE supposed to guess the word... that's the whole point of the game, sneak it in and see if the other guy can guess it. I'm glad you posted that Jodie 👍😉 Jimmy got schooled by an expert. Then Jimmy got offended because he was out done so what did he do, he insulted his guest. But like a pro, Russell got the last laugh and he did it using Jimmy's own game against him. Haha.

+junbh2 But the game is pointless without the guessing. It's just really stilted improv. Anybody can just talk a load of bullshit and insert in random words. The point should be that you have to do it in a way that seems casual. The motivation to keep it casual is that you have to be sneaky and make the word seem naturally a part of your story or else your opponent will guess your word.

+Kawtar Ab thank you for your comment. :D yes I do agree he is somewhat misunderstood, but to us that actually understand him he is not misunderstood. Like when he was being interviewed as such a achor with blonde hair and a blue dress couldn't actually relax when around him, this sent her to be teased at. And its irritating to watch others react to him as irritating, hes not. He's just like everybody else and people just can't seem to handle his wildness. It sort of pisses me off, like these are some of my biggest P's. It is the sort of the same feel how Robin Williams cracked jokes and sort of went wild, everyone was trying to shut him up a bit, which is reasonable he did seem to go a bit too far. Now Im not comparing, well I am a bit, but im not entirely comparing Robin to Russell to see who is the wildest. Im not. Im simply just saying... typing, that wild people, gay people, trans or whatever you identify with, we are the same. And I wish people would stop the bloody "Oh you're not the same as us you cannot be here" posh bullshit. Enough said.

+Genesis Obadiah - Russell flies circles around Jimmy's simplistic mentality. Jimmy has an original zany side, but seems like he'd be content to just giggle for an hour, without any substance. Russell is genuinely aware of what is going on in a much more liberated (free) way. Jimmy's "irritation" is a spontaneous defense mechanism for being outwitted, like "oh come on you're making it difficult for me.."
