@Constitution alli no, I learned about "phreaking" in the Anarchist Cookbook back in High School. I was a hacker back then and not too shabby if I say so myself. I was on the cutting edge of a brand new technology. You can only keep up for sooo long before you throw in the towel and concede to the Russians.

@@stavroskodjapashis4075 What he means is that 1 and 2 both are powers of 2 (1 = 2^0, 2 = 2^1) which are closely related to binary numbers since each digit in a binary number represents a power of 2 (e.g. 1101 = 1 * 2^3 + 1 * 2^2 + 0 * 2^1 + 1 * 2^0 = 8 + 4 + 1 = 13).

@@baronvonfaust You didn't say what exactly you were struggling with but I'll try to explain it a little more in depth: Power of 2 means nothing more than 2^x, so for example 2^1 = 2 2^2 = 2*2 = 4 2^3 = 2*2*2 = 8 and so on. 2^0 doesn't really make sense in this pattern but it is simply defined as 2^0 = 1. Now on to the binary numbers. The binary representation of a number is basically just a different way of writing a number only using the digits 0 and 1. What's important to understand here, (though probably a little confusing at first) is that using 10 digits to represent numbers (0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9) is more or less arbitrary and most likely just down to the fact that we have 10 fingers. When we count up we start with our 10 digits until we end up at 9. Now since we don't have any other digit that comes after 9 we now switch to a number composed of 2 digits, so 10. Now what does this actually stand for? It's simply saying that we now have 1 ten and 0 ones. This might seem obvious because we are used to the decimal representation. Let's look at another example: 354. This actually means that we have 3*100 + 5*10 + 4*1. Still kinda obvious. But notice the fact that each digit is multiplied by a different power of 10. That is because in the decimal system every digit in a number represents a power of 10. Now in the binary system it works exactly the same way, however, as "binary" already suggests we now only get 2 digits to work with: 0 and 1. So let's try to count up in the binary system: We start with 0, then 1 and now we have already run out of digits. So just as we did in the decimal system we're now going to switch to a 2 digit number: 10. Just like in the decimal system this is simply saying that we now have 1 two and 0 ones. Why 1 two? Well because obviously two comes after one, we just can't write it like "2" because we don't have the digit to work with. Let's look at the numbers 0 - 8 in the binary system: 0: 0 1: 1 2: 10 3: 11 4: 100 5: 101 6: 110 7: 111 8: 1000 Notice how we switch to a number with a higher number of digits every time we "run out of space". The same happens in the decimal system: ..., 98, 99, 100, 101, ..., 999, 1000, 1001,... Also notice how this always happens exactly when we reach a power two just like it always happens in the decimal system when we reach a power of ten. This suggests that the "base" of our systems is two in binary and ten in decimal because these because these are the numbers whose powers we need to represent with our digits. So what is the binary number 1101 in the decimal system? Well it is 1 * 2^3 + 1 * 2^2 + 0 * 2^1 + 1 * 2^0 = 1*8 + 1*4 + 0*2 + 1*1 = 8 + 4 + 0 + 1 = 13 in the decimal system. This comment went on for way too long and there's probably way better explanations out there so I'm sorry if this didn't help. Understanding different number systems outside of the decimal system can be really challenging at first because it feels very counter intuitive as it's not how we are used to thinking about numbers so don't feel bad if it takes you a while until you get it.

Fallon is actually really good at these, he balances his tone between uncertainty and certainty so that he could easily be making stuff up if his story were false or just trying to remember if his story were true. I wouldn’t want to play poker against him!

+cate carter Sadly enough, his laugh is the only thing about him that bugs me. I almost kind of feel like he's having an asthma attack when he inhales. Although....if you watch the gag reel to Neighbors, there are two moments where his laugh is actually (what most would consider) normal. Aside from his beard, and his voice, his laugh is one of those things that is instantly recognizable.

I've noticed so far every time Jimmy has played this game his story has been true. First he got his head stuck in a fence and his grandma poured mayo on his head to get it out, then he got mugged by a drug dealer at his friend's apartment in college and now his friend in college tried to steal candy from a vending machine and broke his leg. Clearly Jimmy has led an interesting life. But he needs to start telling some lies or everyone is going know his stories are always true and ridiculous. Perhaps by adding one lie statement and one true statement in both envelopes then each player can choose rather to read the lie or read the truth and the other two players will still have to guest rather its a a lie or the truth but it prevents it from being too repetitive.

I understand how the game works okay, but its also scripted tv show and I know how late night tv works also, they can rig or changes the games if they want to so its not totally random. For example, they could arrange for both of Jimmy's cards to have two lies in it instead of one just so whichever one the others choose he would still have to tell a lie, or they could add more cards to the game so its no longer a 50/50 chance of getting a truth or lie, but change the odds.

***** Not really. As Bill Burr said, Jobs told a room of nerds what he wanted and told them to get to it. Then he walked out on stage like a rockstar and unveiled it. I'm not saying Jobs was necessarily a bad guy, he just received credit for everything and I don't recall seeing him defer any of that credit to those deserving it.
