A weird voice seems to be a requisite for a good impressionist...we have an artist here in Italy that has the most awkward regular voice ever but when he sings he can do the best impressions ever and very challenging impressions too, he can imitate singers that have very powerfull voices with astounding vocal ranges. I thought this was a long gone and disliked thing, but then I saw some big names using it on their SNL performances (performances which were rough and got a lot of hate on social media.) I mean I faintly remember one guy used it nearly the entire song! And it didn’t sound well. It can be used in certain situations but I wonder if sometimes they do it purposely to get people talking on social media. Using negative attention for free publicity has become it’s own art form, just see Kanye West’s recent SNL performance and publicity stunts...
