I love how they made action points shared among the party, really emphasizes using AP to better the results for the party rather than the individual.

Does the party have to debate whether the player can use the action points or can the player do it without discussion?

@@THEEJONESY I would assume it's a group decision to use the luck points, but I haven't kept up with the Fallout TTRPG much so don't quote me on that.

I don't undestand about action points. The quickstart guide states that for some situations you can generate personal AP for some confronted test, and you can't use the shared AP pool. So my question is, when do you put the AP you generated in 1 round into the shared 6 AP pool ?
@zachgaskins3731
@zachgaskins3731 Жыл бұрын
Should clarify here: you can only spend AP to roll more damage dice when making a Melee/Unarmed or Thrown Weapon attack; for other Ranged Attacks, you spend Ammo instead (but the same result), and you're limited to the weapon's Fire Rate as to the extra ammo you can spend this way.
@austinmuse6029

So does each player have 6 Action Points that they contribute to the pool or is the pool only 6 Action Points no matter the party size? Also, I am loving this series and I love the introduction, definitely a new subscriber

Im about to run a fallout ttrpg with my friends as a learning session for 2d20. Coming from dnd3.5 can you do a small video on how to translate the distance zones into the usual 5ft² (1in) board for combats?
@TheAnon26
@TheAnon26 Жыл бұрын
Bit late, but... Why change it? The zone system seems intuitive enough, and it gives a bit more room for creative uses of the environment. Though I reckon switching up the sizes of zones might make sense so it doesnt feel to teleporty with long, narrow zones. ^^

I have a question about the combat dice. How are their faces distributed and is it the same for all 2d20 games? I would like enough dice for both me as GM and the players but the dice packs are really expensive :/ I assume regular d6s can be used but will it be fiddly and difficult to read the results without the specialized dice?
@ThreeEyedTownie
@ThreeEyedTownie 3 жыл бұрын
1 = 1 damage 2 = 2 damage 3 & 4 = blank (no damage) 5 & 6 = damage effect trigger plus 1 damage in my group’s first session, we used standard d6s and after two-three rounds of the first combat encounter we had the conversions down pat. until official supplements are released i would suggest making some player cheat sheets and a GM screen with frequently used tables and explanations of common mechanics. your style of play is going to determine what pieces are going to be most useful but a good way to figure out what you need is to just do some dry runs of tests and combat and pit what you know against what you need to look up. anything you need to look up would be a great choice for putting on your cheat sheets!

@@tristanevans5024 "Hi there we wanted to give you a quick update on your Fallout 2d20 RPG order. The pre-order was planned to ship this summer and we can now announce that shipments will start on July 16th to all global destinations. We expect shipping to take about two weeks (there's a lot of you!) so please be patient as we work through the piles of orders! We had hoped to ship earlier but the dice have been delayed in sea freight from China and we had some technical issues to resolve with the GM Toolkit. Thankfully everything is safely enroute and we can schedule the shipments. For those worried about Brexit issues, if you are in the EU and selected tracked shipping for your order then we cover any taxes on your shipment and there will be nothing extra to pay."

Im not a huge fan of metacurrencies in rpgs, especially not when they are used to "buy" information or question the GM or such. Those are roleplaying things, not gameplay mechanics. Nope, ill be sticking only to buying rerolls and extra dice and whatnot.
@ThreeEyedTownie
@ThreeEyedTownie 3 жыл бұрын
i hear ya, it does add a bit more crunch with this mechanic RAW. with some modifications you could definitely take what serves you and your players, and leave out the rest! the best thing about ttrpgs is how you can shape the game to you and your player's preferred play style!
@-Markus-

@ThreeEyedTownie

The players start with zero AP and its recommended that the GM starts with 1 AP per player - but if you're looking to put some heat on your players you can double the amount of AP the GM starts with!.

@@ThreeEyedTownie So the GM is also restricted to be a total bad ass then... Wich is good in my opinion 😀 and how can' players buy the AP then? With money they find? Doing a succesfull quest? Any way possible?
@ThreeEyedTownie
@ThreeEyedTownie 3 жыл бұрын
@@Mantala0611 the players don’t literally buy the action points. they can either receive them by additional successes on a skill test or by “purchasing” them from the GM. when i say purchasing i mean they get one AP and the cost of that transaction is the GM also gains an AP

As a GM; what if the players use obtain information on important NPCs? What's the best way to give them useful information and/or the truth, while still not revealing too much?
@pablocruz5613
@pablocruz5613 Жыл бұрын
Misinformation is a great tool! An NPC might not know the full suite of issues or problems they could deal with, they could think there’s not much to loot or that there’s a lesser threat. You can also use physical descriptions to show the NPC might be lying and the extra info is paying more attention.

Great video but I’m not so sure about using Luck to replace an attribute. Knowing my players, they will abuse and meta that feature. I’ll probably rule that out lol
@ThreeEyedTownie
@ThreeEyedTownie 3 жыл бұрын
hahaha yeah you might get a player who sandbags luck to meta, making it a min/maxer’s delight 😂. fortunately it is capped to an extent, but does open the door to exploits. of the sessions i’ve run and actual plays i’ve watched so far, players tend to burn through luck fairly quickly with fixing trash rolls and etc. so i think it could be managed well enough!
@AdmiralKarelia
@AdmiralKarelia Жыл бұрын
They can only do it a number of times equal to their Luck attribute, which maxes out at 10. Considering skill tests are used for essentially everything in this game, even ten uses of Luck is going to run out really fast.

Can players use the "buy AP from the GM to buy d20s" option if they have AP in the pool still, or do they have to be at 0 AP before that is an option?
@Sip_Dhit
@Sip_Dhit Жыл бұрын
You can do it at any time, so if you wish to not spend ap so that someone else can use it (especially if that person is a melee fighter who needs to cross difficult terrain or a tough obstacles, to get to a new zone and thus needs legit AP in the pool) you can (and maybe even should) buy extra dice with AP for the GM

Does the whole group share 6 points total? Or does each player have 6 points individually?
@TheAnon26
@TheAnon26 Жыл бұрын
Its a group pool. There are some 2d20 games with individual pools (John Carter most prominently), but most use a group pool. Gives non-combat players some useful ways to assist fighting party members and vice versa. ^^
