Kinda crazy to me, to come on KZbin and find people making NEW content for this game, 10 years after its release. I completely avoided the Fallout series for whatever reason, and took a 10+ year hiatus from gaming. Finally decided to play this for the winter after poking around at a few different games, none of which were giving me what I want. This game feels new and nostalgic at the same time, as I spent countless hours in Morrowind back in the early 2000's.

In my opinion, the best weapon you can get early is the Cryolator! My advice would be to upgrade the Cryolator as soon as possible. Especially the crystallizing barrel doubles the damage and almost double the range! According to Nukapedia: "The Cryolator can be taken by Dogmeat by closing the door in front of the Cryolator after asking to fetch for items (5/30/2024)"! "Cait may be able to unlock the case far earlier than the Sole Survivor can, granting early access to the weapon."

Also, when Paladin Danse is fighting synths, you can do nothing as they will never ending spawn. You can obtain near infinite energy weapons and ammo when you come back to your game (just walk away and let it play. Go to bed with the screen/sound off and wake up to an ongoing fight).

If you have not done one yet, I would like to see video on best early weapons you can purchase in the game. The General Chao Sword for free at Drumin Diner after getting the three gold bars in Sanctuary is an example. Great video btw!

I love using the child of atoms robes you get in far harbour from the nucleus, with it you can become immune to radiation with full rads making radiation based weapons even stronger with the Destroy far harbour perk, plus rad armor pieces you find you can get upto +30 strength! Allowing your character to carry a ton of items and your melee weapons to either instantly kill anything or 2 hit the tougher bosses. Just don't use power armor with this build.

I'm surprised how many people don't know about the hardened sniper rifle on the roof of the red rocket in Cambridge. You can head there level one and pick it up. Hard to find a better starter weapon.

The .44 has to be one of the best even in late game with a gunslinger build but you have to find Cricket and Eleanor for early ammo. Or make up a character that can build .44 rounds. The Fatman requires critical banker IMO. I never use it unless I have a crit. Not a fan of the hunting rifle. The render distance of the Bethesda engine is too short so sniping is not a good tactic. The Junk jet is too heavy. Righteous Authority; yeah upgraded with a character specced for it is pretty darn good.

The 44 has no ammo spawning. You can't even buy that Until you get high enough level

Recommending weapons that you will struggle to find ammo for, doesn't seem like the "Best Weapon" to me. Neither do the weapons the require serious upgrades. Righteous Authority is a really good gun. Especially when fully automatic. If you want a REALLY good early gun, go to Covenant, and buy Justice. Very good shotgun! Or... Skip Walden Pond, and go directly to Vault 81 and the Overseer's Guardian.

Problem with Overseer's Guardian is the cost. Granted you can mitigate that with clothing/chems/perks/Junktown mags but you will still have to shell out for it. Means typically setting up a water farm which requires time and waiting. I would recommend using a pipe bolt-action until you have enough water anyway. You can get a suppressed pipe bolt-action sniper in about 10 minutes or so of leaving the vault. Depending on what all you choose to do

Eleanor is an unmarked merchant slightly southwest of of the Boston Police Rationing Site, she consistently sells large quantities of rarer ammo types including 44

Am I the only one who finds the Fat Man to be utterly useless? I have never once used it for a practical reason. It's just way too heavy, and the range is abysmal. Maybe if you play on lower difficulties it might have a use, but holy crap even a single mini-nuke weighs a whopping 12 freakin pounds!! I'm not carrying that crap around.

Its useful against the tougher opponents like the mirelurk queens or swarms of enemies, plus there are builds like radkings that give you massive carrying capacity from the child of atoms robes.

For Nate it makes sense because he was a soldier and presumably had the training already, but for Nora... well let's be honest Nate is the "Real" protagonist. It just makes zero sense that a non-practicing housewife lawyer would do anything other than immediately die.

It doesn’t give it to you though. You have to go out of your way to find it as it’s sorta hidden. Power armor right in the beginning with no special or perk requirements is annoying though. I think it would have been fine in the beginning if it was more restricted.

I keep hearing that Bethesda broke FO4 a while back with some kind of patch snafu and its still broken and they basically have no plans to fix it. Is this true? Legit question. I have considered reinstalling FO4 for some old fun but having heard all this now I am hesitant to worrying that they ruined the game. Can someone clarify this for me?

@@toakongu1I really like the explosive shotgun, especially indoors, however, It cannot compare to the devastation of the minigun used outside on a swarm of enemies, due to single shots. Both have their roles and are very effective.
