Well the difference is they live there. Zach passing through doesn’t need a suit, Zach living there might.

@@s.c.2180Also: no the glowing sea is legit not that radioactive. It is about 1-3 rads/sec mostly with thunder jumping it up to 5 every now and again. It might look less dangerous here because he’s level 103 meaning he has a massive pool of health and the way radiation works in this game it takes quite a while to chip away at his health.

The gunners you killed were the ones giving mcready trouble, killing them means no more trouble from them, and the other gunner cells don't know it was him and won't be bothering him anyway because he wasn't their problem

And at the same tine, loosing an entire outpost makes it too costly to try and figure out who was powerful enough to take them out. Increase alertness in other outposts, and write that outpost off as a loss is a better use of their resources. Or at least, that's what MacCready is banking on.

As far as Gerber multi tools go, I love them. They don't seem to love me very much, as they keep getting lost while in use. As soon as I set it down, it's as if it screams, "FREEDOM" and vanishes into the aether.

One of the vendors in the Far Harbor DLC actually does explain why the Children of Atom sometimes have RadAway and Rad-X

@@Space-man-mars Basically, while most of the Children have "Atom's Gift," which is a seemingly supernatural immunity to radiation (hence why they're totally chill living in places like the Glowing Sea or Nucleus), some of them do not, and a church seemingly invented a doctrine which allowed those who weren't "gifted" to use anti-radiation meds, justifying it as cleansing themselves so they may be irradiated again and begin the cycle anew.

@@Space-man-mars To add to what Icemancer said, they call it 'the Scouring'. Where those without Atom's blessing cleanse themselves so they can get irradiated again. It is seen as something akin to self-flagellation and is something that is approved of. It demonstrates their faith and dedication, since it allows them to keep worshiping Atom instead of dying of radiation sickness.

The lore of the Children of Atom is that some of them are, somehow, immune to radiation. This is apparently a blessing by Atom. That may sound stupid, but keep in mind that the Lovecraftian pantheon is sort of canon to Fallout. Atom could very well be real in some form. Which also explains why some Children of Atom, no matter how extremely devoted, just don't get this radiation immunity. Because the Lovecraftian elder gods are jerks like that. For them, they require frequent treatment with Rad-Away. Thus, why Brother Ogden has it for sale.

It could also just be a more subtle mutation from the FEV. From Project Purity, at least in the Capital Wasteland, the majority of even 'Humans' are mutated enough that anti-FEV measures will kill them in high enough doses. Remember, the FEV is everywhere as it was released to counter the New Plague pre-war, and then radiation activated it, creating all the mutated hazards we know of. It's created psychics, why not radiation immunity?

When I said the Lovecraftian pantheon, I meant something similar to the Lovecraftian pantheon. There's always been paranormal stuff in Fallout, even back in the Interplay days. Like how in Fallout 2 the leader of your tribe could communicate with you telepathically. One example of Lovecraftian-like shenanigans going on is the area under Dunwich Borers with that ritual site where all the hallucinations happen and you find that cool sword.

Ug-Qualtoth is an apparent elder god-like being that was introduced in Fallout 3. He's apparently worshipped by a secret inner circle of the Dunwich company, which would explain the ritual site under the dig site in Fallout 4.

@ rain & fallout: The Glowing Sea's radiation is almost entirely residual, because the actual fallout had 200 years to rain out. So rain would not only pretty quickly wash out the little bit of dust and fumes that might be kicked up regularly, resulting in cleaner air - the water would also act as an additional layer of shielding, even if it's only a minimal coat on the surface.

I think Mike isn't the best at optimizing a heavy mod list, and/or doesn't have the patience to add/make patches for all the mod conflicts. Here we saw they fighting M's Abominations and Mutant Menagerie monsters and the Gojira mod, for example. The first two almost certainly conflict. And I'm not sure if they still have the mod that adds more combat encounters, WOTC, which is both old and heavy. Plus all those weapons and items... Many built-up settlements, lotta quests both completed and open... There are a lot of scripts happening at once.

Funny thing is think with the Children of Atom they don't find Rad X and Radaway to be offensive, which ye think they would but they actually recognise that not everyone, even among them is able to live in radioactive areas so they're fine with it being used. That said though if someone who doesn't have some weird radiation immunity mutation kinda deal and devotes themselves to the point of fasting and standing in radiation for as long as it takes for them to see a vision... the CoA very much support that... and most if not almost all of them will do absolutely nothing about someone basically killing themselves with devotion. All sorts of fun this lot.

10:57 After 200 years the fallout has already fallen out. Remaining rad-storms are the result of Kyshtym Disaster style dustbowl events bringing more crap from where it's settled. Provided there's not already a ton of radioactive dust in the air, the rain would help keep dust from rising with the wind in most places. Runoff areas and waterways will remain heavily polluted as long as there's material to flush through the system. The worst thing a radioactive dumping-lake can do is dry up. Water helps keep it in place.

I know that in mines and stuff they spray water to knock down the dust so that it's safer to breath down there, and sometimes I'll use a spray bottle when working with a bunch of fine dust to that it doesn't get everywhere (including in my lungs lol)

Mutant Menagerie - Big Game Hunting. There is a new version, "Life Finds a Way". Love it. Adds enemies, regular fauna, weird flora, and ways to turn all that into trophies and settlement crops. Edit: new weapons and armors, some of which use components from the different creatures, such as quantum flux and concentrated fog. Quests, both unique and radiant. Stations for hunting/foraging/fishing. I would endorse it twice if I could.
