I think it's also worth mentioning that you can find items in the world that will be stored as junk when you collect it. You can drop these things and go into workshop mode in your settlement and pick them up and place them wherever you please. For example you can find balls used for pool and place them on the pool table. Or you can find an earth globe and place it on a table, same with cups. I'm surprised norespawn didn't mention that here

Frozen for 200 years, you are able to scrap anything for materials, however you can only build post-war garbage... This drives me crazy! I want to be able to build a pristine house, have a settler sweep leaves, cut grass, pick up trash. It would also be nice if you could scrap ANYTHING in the settlement area even the full houses because even with covering windows and adding a roof they still look pretty bad.

I am so posses I built a huge wall around Country Crossing with 306 defense and I got the message it was under attack I fast traveled and boom all synth dead then I failed the mission somehow, I even tried sleeping there for 24 hours. What's the point of turrets and defense if you have to constantly go back to the settlements.

Quick update - the reason for the delay in new Fallout videos (I was just finishing uploading one a minute ago) - is that because as I forgot turn off the radio, I received an automated copyright claim. It's cool, I hadn't published it yet, so no strike against me. But it does mean that I have to re-record everything and edit. Which means the video will be up tomorrow instead. I have a weird, maybe specific problem with interior decorating. I like to put small details like wine bottles junk on a lot of the furniture to give it a lived in feel, but whenever I come back, the items literally have sank into the furniture. I can go into build mode and bring them back up, but is this specific to me or do you have this problem too? Also, great video, Your house looks fucking fantastic!

Haha I'm the same way with my character's home. I do not allow anyone else entering it. I barricaded the doors off so that way no one will enter it. Heh, silly me. Of course they still do enter it and I find Preston or Cait wandering around inside of it which pisses me off. I go ape-shit on them, causing everyone to go hostile on me, resulting me in having to reload the game again. This was of course before I knew that you can reinforce the walls and roof like you did in this video. I never scrap anything in the house except for the broken beds. The main bedroom's bed is where your character and your spouse 'made' Shaun. ;) But the bed had to go.

Something I've noticed when placing junk items as decorations, is that the bigger the item, the better it stays. Things like paint cans, animal hides, and the exercise weights tend to stay put after fast travelling. Even some long guns work also. Loving these videos by the way.

Did you find out how to have the Junk not fly around? Its strange to me, but works. drop em on the floor, do a standard (not quick) save place them, and do another standard save. they will stay in place where you put them. It has something to do with junk having memory of where it once was. Try it, and let me know!

Anyone notice that lighted objects embedded in the wall stop lighting after a few saves? I did almost the same thing with my Juke box as it has an odd shape in the back and it doesn't light up any more, I did the same with Search lights, put them 3/4 into a wall and after a few saves they wouldn't light up any longer.

+RHChy If you're on console like me than you can do the duplication glitch. I currently have tens of thousands of material. Here's what i did: Go to a trader and buy a shipment of something, like a shipment of 25 copper. Go find Dogmeat and find a nice flat surface. what you have to do is drop the shipment (its a sheet of paper) from your inventory on the ground and tell him to pick it up. Right before the animation of him moving his head to pick it up, you have to pick it up before he does. This will glitch and dogmeat will drop a glitched shipment in front of you while you already have the original in your inventory. Repeat until you have like 10 duplicated shipments. Then go to a workshop and store everything in your inventory (except for the shipment of course) that you can in a container and take everything out of the workshop and store it in the crate too. Its important your shipment doesn't get stored into the workshop or crate because it will transfer "Shipment of Copper - 25" into "copper (25)" which means now you have individual copper pieces instead of a shipment of them and you don't want that to happen or else the glitch won't work. You'll now have a clear inventory aside from the duplicated shipments and an empty workshop. The workshop and inventory don't have to be cleared out but it makes thing 100x faster. Than go in to transfer mode and go to your inventory and hit Triangle and Square (PS4 idk Xbox buttons) super fast in that order and it'll duplicate the shipments. If you did it right than you should have 2x what you orinally had and still have the shipment paper. So if you duplicated the 25 shipment with dogmeat 10 times you would have 250 copper. than with the workshop glitch you'd take that 250 and take it to 500. If you were fast enough you could glitch the shipments again and again and go from 250 to 500 to 750, etc. Just type in dogmeat duplication glitch and workshop duplication glitch and you'll get a video on it.

Unless you're one of those people with OCD who said that. You don't even need to have OCD, you can just like your things neat and tidy. I don't understand why it seems like such a mind-boggling concept. That large toolbox wouldn't be practical at an angle. Having it flush against the wall will prevent people from knocking it over and sending everything everywhere, especially if you plan on making this a common area where a lot of people will be going. Workshops require a lot of movement, anyways, and you don't want things sticking out that you can easily knock over.

I do agree about the fancy furniture but in all fairness the 200+ year old furniture we have today is, more often than not, fancy. Same goes for paintings. If we think something will increase in value we tend to take better care of it. And why doesn't the game let us clean up the leaves? We find a frikkin' broom in every house!!

I like to imagine that they wandered into Concord and found a bunch of kitty paintings in a little girl's room and brought them back for laugh. I'm still having trouble patching up these walls. The rug glitch seems pretty spotty with snappable pieces. Any chance you can throw together a tutorial specifically on patching the walls and roof? I know you have one but you covered it kind of quickly and I think it's easy for newbs like me to not get it to work and not be sure why.

No matter how I try to work it, the Nuka Cola machines will not go against the wall. I put them on the rug just like you do, but no dice. Any tips?

I do a lot of those same things. Suitcases under the bed, ready to haul ass. Never use the shit paintings (unless I'm on an asshole character, then their house is filled with cats and bikini babes from a mod). Good stuff.
