@DarkBeast 27: Me too! Minutemen all the way!!! RR to me are more like SJWs, although I like them but I don't agree putting Synths above humans. The thought that a synth replaced a human it doesn't sit well with me.
@solved31064 жыл бұрын
@@brocksamson7164 In my opinion I don't believe they actually value synth life over human life. Their only mission is the liberation of synths and as such don't ever really help many humans in the Commonwealth. There isn't a synth hierarchy in the Railroad. In fact, Deacon actually says that he wishes the Railroad would get around to doing more for the people of the Commonwealth. They fight so that synths can have the same quality of life as humans, they don't put them above humans. However, I do think that their close mindedness affects how many people that they could be helping and that the Minutemen (if you decide to free the synths when you take on the Institute) are the best hope for the future.

(spoilers) I play Fallout 4 with my music off most of the time so I can play my own music, and while I'm going through the Brotherhood of Steel questline I get to the part where you wipe the railroad out. Near the end of the fight while I was picking off the grunts left behind after killing all the major characters, I remembered I had my music off and turned it on just because. After everyone was dead, I heard this for the first time. (since before now I hadn't entered the Railroad HQ with music on) Now, it may seem weird to you (maybe not) but music in general is very close to my heart and something about hearing this with dead bodies strewn about made me really made me question my choices. "Am I doing the right thing here?"

The only thing I’ll say about the Railroad is that they’re kind of misguided. They’re right to want to free the synths, but it shouldn’t be the only issue they focus on as it’s not the biggest issue the Commonwealth faces. It doesn’t warrant their destruction though, so killing them is wrong and is one reason why the BoS (who is right to want to destroy the institute, but is going about it in completely the wrong way) is evil.

This music started playing in the basement, and I just sat there listening to it. I was so glad when I found these guys later-- they mesh with my favored lore much better than the Brotherhood does, and their missions are super fun. The music is really great. Future-scifi-ambient mixed with a tiny bit of espionage thriller soundtrack.

You know whats the sad part, like the minutemen, the railroad was pushed back so far only the minute men just didn't have the castle as a base, the railroad was forced to go underground in a crypt which is kinda foreshadowing of the fate of their organization, even in their quest line, the keep losing more and more, and our finally sitting in a physical and metamorphical big coffin. Their our the one with the most sympathies deserved.
@kevinmoore96083 жыл бұрын
Also to add, the Prydwen is also very foreshadowing, as it is essential the representation of the brotherhood, and it too is represented as being a precarious position, it has all the firepower it could need, one critical hit was all it needed to crash and burn. The brotherhood is basically putting all their eggs in one basket, and if the blimp goes down they go down. But compared to the railroad, they feel more hopeful with them being in the sky like a guardian while the railroad is barely surviving, already walking dead as hinted by the crypt's dreary setting and all. One good trespasser or raiding party and their toast.
@amelgicic75882 жыл бұрын
@@kevinmoore9608 Good analysis. The only thing that bothets me with the RR is that after you destroy the Institute, they're pretty much useless. Their main objective was to rescue synths, but after the Institute is gone, there is no need for that. Also, all the secrecy and hiding is trivial too, because who should they be hiding from? Unless the BoS is still around but you have to kill them as well.
@daveydesjarlais88383 ай бұрын
@@amelgicic7588 They mention how there are lots of Synths displaced from the mass teleportation after the Institute is blown up, and they dedicate time and resources into finding and giving aid to those displaced synths. Additionally, they set you on missions to eradicate a gang, wipe up any loose ends from the Institute, and provide assistance to other communities.
@TheDevintomb6 жыл бұрын
I wish I could've saved Deacon. I rolled in their and wanted to save them, but they didn't want to hear it. I threw god knows how many Synth Grenades at them and watched, watched closely and in secretive pain as people I did consider friends were slain by the things they were trying to liberate. It was then, I could see the irony of the situation, and I came to the realization that each member that fell, was more and more of a light that was put out for Synths everywhere. I realized I was ending their chances and hope of escaping the Institute. I understood that I was the monster they feared and fought against.We slaughtered them all, and strung their corpses on their pedestal as a constant reminder. A reminder that The Institute will not be a faction to trifle with, and that our goal will be completed. A reminder that will haunt me till the end of my days. A reminder of what a monster can do when a choice has to be made. A reminder that I wouldn't risk my life for them, but they would, for me.

I always loved having the Railroad as a side faction during my Minuteman play-throughs. BOS is also present but I mainly focus on Minutemen and Railroad, isolated the two factions are pretty boring but when sharing a Playthrough it makes the Minutemen a bit spicy, as if they're a front for the Wider Railroad resistance. It's a lot of fun, I just wish both factions had more proper quests. Maybe there is modded quests out there but Fallout 4 Modding is many time harder and laggier then Fallout NV modding, else I'd be working on it myself.

While Covert Actions feels like the Railroad's "theme" of hopefulness despite the situation they face, War of Wills feels the personification of the most desperate moments of the Railroad, like after the Switchboard fell, when Ticonderoga fell, or when the HQ was attacked by the Brotherhood

The railroad was a nice faction, and I enjoy that people highlight the Railroad really don't give a damn about the Commonwealth's people. Too interested in the wellbeing of synths. but I wish the Railroad also were forced to know they might be responsible for creating dangerous people. Like the Raider Boss in Libertalia. Or how the Institute could've been using the Railroad to send their synths out into the world. So much potential for idealistic freedom fighters. But they just didn't give enough direction to take it.
