Small builds are my favourite by far and so many people misunderstand that to make them "pop"/stand out, you do not need flashy or big structures, its the combination of details and unique little ideas. Even the "popular" channels don't grasp this, imo a lot of the content they put out is just a jig of the same thing, and adding in junk makes them look better. But this, this is special and gets how to do it in spades. i dont make a habit of asking people to look at my uploads, but I think you'll like Wasteland and Hanging Huts. By all means view all 5 of them and please let me know what you think.
@fallout4settlements617 жыл бұрын
Hey man, first of all thanks a lot for such a nice critique, I'm really glad you like it, especially since people sometimes disregard "small" builds. Regarding your videos, I've already watched all of them, several times! We "know" each other.You were very kind to me on the settlements reddit and gave me advice to make a photo gallery for my Sanctuary :)

Fallout4Settlements ahh i thought i recongised the work! That place is unfortunately full of what i would term as purists (or even stretch it to elitism) who deem vanilla works as harder to build/imagine and more creative. You and I both know that is not the case. I rarely view settlement work these days as not many people make unique things, but i genuinly look forward to seeing what else you come up with and I hope you do make a few more pieces of quality.

Hot damn man! This is absolutely incredible, I am loving the armory room (I would live there) - The location is so hidden, If you can why don't you get a lone/faulty robot in the main station to act as a long term petrol vendor.

daymn i'm glad I hung in there, at first I was saying what is this ultimate lore or something, then you busted out the secret basement and I was like daaayyymnn!!!! I love guns and power armor I always go overkill on those things too, everybody else uses lots of plants, food and cooking area's to decorate but I've always got badass weapon and power armor rooms. Nicely done I wish I could hear what you were saying in this video. Did you hand place all that stuff or did you use ocdecorator or what man????
@fallout4settlements617 жыл бұрын
hahaha I'm glad you watch the whole video :D Yeah, I'm using ocdecorator. I think I would go insane without it since it's a pain in the ass already to place all the tiny objects and I like to be as detailed as possible. It's especially hard on larger settlements (like my Sanctuary) when the frame rate goes down the toilet :D
@legendarymass7 жыл бұрын
Fallout4Settlements I figured it was ocdecorator only, thats what I do also, I hate when your setting decorations down and you gotta do it from like 20 feet away. when im stacking shelves I line up everything on the top shelf "because I don`t have the choice" and then I console command all the items down to the level below at the same time. that way you can go fast, like I put the first one down and do modpos 1 until you get the total value of exactly how far down you want to go. usally end up with a total value of 30-40 for it to look good. then I just click every object and press up in the console and reload modpos z -37 or whatever so I basically "machine gun" everything into the right place. is that how you do it too??
@fallout4settlements617 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I use console commands to move objects as well, not just small items on the shelves. I have a bit OCDish personality so I usually end up spending hours just “machine gunning” every single object (decoration items, but also all other objects) until it’s good enough in my mind :D Although I didn’t know you can move more objects at the same time, I always move them 1 by 1 with console commands. It takes for-fuckng-ever :D
@legendarymass7 жыл бұрын
i'm not saying you can move more than 1 at a time, that would be nice however. I'm saying that when I fill up shelves specifically I put all the stuff in a row on the shelf and then I move 1 object down to the bottom shelf. However many total units it took to get a perfect fit I just total up and then use to make me do the rest of the row really fast. "example" the first object in a line I will console command like this--modpos z -10 modpos z -10 modpos z -10 mod pos z -1 modpos z -1 modpos z -1. The total was modpos z -33 so now I know that the shelves are spaced by 33 units apart and so I type in modpos z -33 for the rest of the stuff, and to go really fast I just hit console ~ then, arrow key up to reload last used command click on the object and hit enter. That way you can fill shelves super fast.

First off I really love this base. It's quaint and perfect for a lone-style character. Now for the real reason I am commenting. I look through your mods and you have a lot of settlement crafting mods. Was there any compatibility issues? I am having some with only 6 mods. Thanks :)
@fallout4settlements617 жыл бұрын
Usually mod authors will let you know in the description of their mod if it’s not compatible with some other specific mod of a type of mods. Sometimes they also provide compatibility patches in order to use them together with other mods. I don’t have any issues with the ones that are listed but I know that there were few mods that I installed and they didn’t work. Do you use a mod installer or do you manually install the mods?
@Lightning14327 жыл бұрын
I used a mod installer.
@Lightning14327 жыл бұрын
I guess what I'm really asking is if you had to make any sort of compatibility patch by yourself. Hoping not and that I didn't notice a compatibility patch someplace.
@fallout4settlements617 жыл бұрын
Didn't have to use any kind of patch. Just the Nexus mod manager and LOOT: The Load Order Optimisation Tool loot.github.io/ That's kinda imporant as well :) Which are the mods you had problems with?
@Lightning14327 жыл бұрын
I was mostly trying out a new mod to me, Vanilla Extensions. It created all sorts of problems with the vanilla menu and I couldn't really find some of the other mods I had as well. But I'm trying a new mod set without the Vanilla Extensions. Before you ask, yes I had the Master Plan and all correct compatibility patches. EDIT: And yep that was most certainly the issue. Possibly a custom made patch could have fixed it but it's a bit beyond me even with all the guides. Thanks though, mate.

Hello mate. Great vid/build. One question though, I play on a PS4 which recently died due to the BLOD and lost roughly 1000 hours of game play... no shit. In any case I am currently rebuilding and am loving Red Rocket right now due to it's location and the fact I neglected it last time, however even though I am well aware of the limitations when playing on a console, I would love to know how to do the same under Red Rocket. Cheers mate. Subbed
@fallout4settlements616 жыл бұрын
There is a mod for PC, and I'm fairly sure you can find it on PS4 as well, called basement living. I've took one of the rooms from that mod, deleted everything and re-built it from scratch to what you see in the video. I had to use console commands to remove some of the objects/walls, so I don't know if you'll be able to remove them, but you should be ok for 90% of the things. The mod adds 6-7 different rooms so you can pick whichever you like as a starting point and then work from there.

Hey, thank you for the feedback! Actually a lot of people asked me to provide the blueprint of my Sanctuary settlement so I'm looking into it. From what I understand there are still some issues with the mod (for example it doesn't export power cables) so I might wait a bit until everything is ok. Thx man! Usually only the „big builds“ get all the hype but I think that these small specific ones can be just as nice :) I did this on the PC and the main mod needed to make this work is either www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/10967/ (that's the one I used and completley redeisgned one of the available rooms) or I guess any of these 3 might do the trick 1. www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/12404/ 2. www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/15344/ 3. www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/13830/ Hopefully one of them, or something similar, is available for PS4 :)

You could do it in some other settlement you didn't start working on yet or as an addition to an existing one you already have. Maybe not as a basement, but make a hidden base, and camouflage it with trash decoration (cars, junk walls, shipping crates etc.) and use those doors that won't open until they are powered up (just like I did) and hide the switch somewhere.. It would work the same way, you just wouldn't be underground :)
