Fallout 4 The Slog Settlement Tour (Vanilla/No Mods!) #3

Welcome to another settlement tour by CynicalRedd! This time i take you through my build at the last tarberry location known as "The Slog" I share with you a little lore friendly info as well as my build inspired by it and the present settlers. Yeah me too and that’s the vibe I hope to continue with all of my builds in this series. Trying my best to stick with realism, lore friendly builds, vanilla and no mods to ensure no exclusions so anyone on any platform can replicate or get ideas from these videos.

This version of The Slog is very skillfully done. The conduit work is clean. You've made yours look as good without mods as I did with mods. Also, one veteran to another, thank you.

Thank you for the kind words!! I’m glad you like it and messin with the electrical for this one was definitely one of my favorite parts. I’m sure it could be better as I learn more but I was happy with how it came out. Still clean but obviously an after thought which makes sense for a settlement in the wastes in my opinion. It's quite amazing that this was built without any mods. I love the layout of the place as well as the general vibe. You could try using less white light and more yellow light from candles, oil lamps, or fire to make the houses feel more cosy. Also, at 4:10, try different kinds of chairs, tables, or even the balcony railing to add variety and texture so it feels less repetitive.

I loved makin that little thing, It was cool to squeeze together a bunch of unusual pieces that typically don’t go together into one little shack and have it still come out fairly nice!

Yeah I know lol that’s why I said some and hey it’s better than what they had before which wasn’t anything! There’s also a couple of porta potties by the storage garage so I’m sure they won’t complain much.

I had a funny role play idea for the slog send paladin danse over there and set it up as the paladin ghoul protection centre hahaha

Hey thank you so much I’m glad you enjoyed it! I believe the current count is 7 or 8 and it’s still all just ghouls to kind keep with the lore. I also always deal with ai pathing issues, at this point it’s another “feature” not a bug lol.

This is really well done! I love all of your other ones also! Since you don't have Mods, how do you keep all of the loose items from flying around! Items always get knocked over when NPC's walk by & when the Settlement gets attacked!?!

Thank you very much I really appreciate that. I just try my best to ensure certain items aren’t within reach of the NPCs so if I have any issues it could be some things just falling through every now and then which isn’t a big deal and pretty easily fixed imo. Also as for settlements getting attacked all of the builds that I’ve made videos for have large defense walls and turrets so most if not all enemies spawn outside of the base and don’t ever have a chance to make it in.

I wonder if the update destroyed your settlement like it did all mine?

Haven’t noticed anything major at least. Not using mods in these builds definitely helps with that kind of thing.

Im sorry but I dont believe youre not using any mod. You can not destroy the originals beds from the ghoul settlers and the entrance door cant placed either. Among other things.

I’m sorry to hear that! I indeed do not have any mods installed and I’m more than happy to show you that my mod list is empty and all things are still functional. I am a pc player however, so I was able to disable the beds in the console. As for the front doors, I used a simple bug in the game that allows you to faze certain items through walls or floors using either a pillar or carpet. As with many others I like to call the “bugs” features and I use them to my advantage when building in settlements. But again I don’t have mods however I am curious to know what other things you don’t think are vanilla. I must have done at least a somewhat decent job of making unique stuff since it led you to believe that.

Also I received a suggestion not long ago to do a build along video of the tenpines bluff location which I will probably be doing soon. So if you’d like to subscribe and stick around and check out the tips and tricks I’ll include in that video to help recreate some of the things I’ve done in my builds then maybe that will clear up any doubts! Either way I appreciate the feedback from you.
