I was doing settlement building the other day when my daughter walks in (she plays lots of Minecraft) and asks, "Why does everything you build look old? If they make you pay for it, it should be new." So true. Hopefully, the Vault Workshop will add new looking stuff. Bethesda needs to bite the bullet and add a Repair option to all the broken down old houses in the settlement locations. They already have the models for them.

Ha! So true indeed. The Vault DLC trailer shows new-looking furniture and stuff. I just hope we can build it all outside the vaults too. I will be so upset if we can't.

pretty sure there's a mod to stop the hammering or if not just build something in front of the areas they normally hammer

That would be a cool features if the settlers actually fixed up the town for you. Hell, I'd be happy if they just swept the floors! I'm looking at you Arcadia.

+Hedgehobbit I'd love a feature where over time as your settlement gets more populated and taken care of you gradually see improvements. Structural damage gets repaired, floors are cleaned, perhaps even land getting smoothed and leveled. That would be awesome.

It's a crying shame they didn't add such a feature to the game. It would make all those settlers feel like they're earning their keep instead of just mooching off us and hanging around all day doing nothing worthwhile.

My OCD would get the better of me on the windows. Not even the fact that it's larger on the outside and you can see the frame on the house, but the fact that the framework doesn't match up on the existing frame. The glass doors is pretty interesting though since the framework of the windows can be lined up. Having windows is a much more interesting look than having every window boarded up though for sure.

This game is testing my ocd so bad. Last night I've been struggling with this same thing, windows. I tried everything, from the rug glitch to the pillars glitch, removing the floor, removing the roofs (custom made with another tutorial). And I don't want to use mods until after getting all the trophies. I hope this works. Thanks for the vid, girl.

you can place a window where you said you cant, if you use the tall post from the barn section, thats how i placed a window on all the houses.

What i did, i use the warhouse wall with the window that has four glass windows across with 3 rows and glitch that in and cover with house with post that u can find in warehouse under miscellance.

Oooooo nice!....we need to go touch grass though😆 spending WAY too much time on this bs...but so satisfying to see it look good. You know a great option would have been getting supplies to reapir the exsisting strutures and just have all the pieces they have in the editor to customize things.

Great videos, i didnt have to use a piller for the doors in the windows, they just went in lol. I cant for the life of me though get the ceiling patched. The rug glitch is a no go for me :(

It's very hard to put the ceilings in if you've ever built anything inside the house, even a piece of furniture. It's just weird that way. Make sure the house is completely empty. Also, if you have a scrap everything mod installed, it could be interfering with the glitching. Disable the mod temporarily to fix it.

Windows are added by the Far Harbor DLC I think.

The windows are from the Wasteland Workshop DLC.

If you really like this game get all the DLC's for it. the extra story lines and all the extra content for building and weapons armor etc it's worth it.

A bed that is not under a roof adversely affects happiness. I guess the question is whether the preexisting roofs on the houses in Sanctuary count as roofs according to the game.

That's because you don't have the DLC that the windows (or rather doors) come with. I can't remember exactly which DLC adds it, but it's possibly Far Harbor.

Do you use a scrap everything mod? Those sometimes interfere with the effectiveness of using the pillar to glitch items.

Wasteland Dovahkiin ----> I try to avoid those type of mods. I only use a few body mods. I am on xbox. Can you still do it?

It hasn't been patched. If it's not working then something must be interfering with your placement. Something you built may be in the way. Or you can try a different item to move the windows into place. Use the shack foundation instead of the concrete pillar, sometime it works better. You can also try using the stairs that sink into the ground. Unfortunately it's impossible for me to see what might be the problem without actually looking at your game. I hope you can get it working. Good luck. :)
