Fallout 76 - This Single Action Revolver Is Hilariously Bad!
A recent trip to the Rusty Pick netted me a Quad, Last Round, Damage Resist While Reloading Single Action Revolver. That combination of effects on this gun is so bad that I just had to try it out.

I will never understand this gun. I'm a lover to revolvers of all kinds and when I first played this back in the beta I was so hyped when I got one from a government drop in flatwoods. Then, I used it and was so disappointed. Poor damage, poor ap, poor reload speed, poor accuracy, poor firing speed! They could have at the very least made it more fantasy and allowed us to fan it to seem cool. But no.

Revolvers are probably one of the worst guns to use in 76 given how most enemies come in groups I’ve been trying a gun slinger build with revolvers got a 44 with vats hit chance so it never misses it’s shot

I've noticed the VATS thing happening as well. I use a quad explosive railway rifle, so I need to be in vats to stand a chance of hitting anything with anything other than the first round, and I've been randomly dropping out of vats a lot over the past few days.

I’ve noticed sometimes if I miss in vats the accuracy of the next shot “increases” but sometimes I just keep missing

i know you didnt really test it here, but in theory if you only left 1 round in the chamber every time you reloaded, does that always give you the chance for last round to trigger i wonder?

Interesting.. but I think you’d probably do the same DPS roughly when you factor in the reload time for one round every shot compared to being able to keep firing 24 shots straight

the other ridiculous quad weapon in my opinion is the pump action shotgun. i got a quad explosive pump shotgun and the reloads are hilarious

if you can get that with faster reload it's excellent, that was one of my main rolls for a couple hundred levels. It's fast like the lever action, which is also great with QE15r

I have a QE250 single action revolver and noticed that 250 DR effect only works while reloading your first ammo, then won't work while reloading the rest of them. I think it's a bug.

I love the feel of the single action revolver. How it looks and sounds. Since I play uny, have adrenal, and mine is bloodied, it does a fair amount of damage. However, I do agree the base gun should do a little bit more.

Yep. I'm a big cos player in Fallout 76, and I'd love to do a cowboy pistolier build, but the western revolver would need to have at least two top-tier effects, like AA and explosive, to make it even a remotely viable choice.

Depends how/what you use it for and what the rolls are and also your build. But I have a BE 2 star one and without even using any pistol perks, I can one shot to the head anything from a super mutant or less. Definitely wouldn’t recommend for a boss or large mobs that are condensed in one small area.. but it can definitely be useful while out exploring/looting.

I recently made an old man character gunslinger that uses this single action and western revolver and its kinda ok/fun to run from enemies sometimes and not immediately shred them with quad explosive railway lol

I had a quad, explosive round, pump-action shot gun recently. I got rid of it because I had the same issue with reloading it.

the trick is to keep it at 1 ammo and start the reload process in anticipation of a hit. first person is way better than 3rd for this gun. you can trigger 2 shots with 1 round in the chamber if you ADS quick enough after your last shot. this could mean proccing the last round effect more often. it's not a VATs weapon but you can. it's a quirky gun, not for everyone.

I’ve got a quad SSA too, it’s so silly how long it takes to reload. I like to do it while people are shopping though,p. Also like come on, they really should make this the highest damage conventional pistol:it’s like game balance 101: The slow RoF, long reload gun gets the big boi damage!

This must be the only gun in the game that makes your adrenaline expire because the reload is so long lmao. I use a Tesla rifle that's not quad with last round and faster reload. There is no last round activation indicator unfortunately

I’ve been trying to use a gun slinger build on my new character it does struggle with lvl 100 enemies but it does work Got a single action which has that 100% vats accurate outside of combat and Resilient So I literately save the last bullet for a first encounter

I hate how awful pistols are in this game. I tried to make a gunslinger non vats character, and man, do pistols suck bad, the Gauss pistol is decent, and so is the alien blaster. You have to use auto pistols to get some damage

Revolvers need a fix. Even Two-Shot + 50 crit damage tickles enemies. Next scoreboard should release a unique pistol that has triple damage + fast reload. Was hoping for Circuit Breaker to be good, but it's very niche.

It ia bad but like someone else said this gun is fun to use in the way it plays and sounds. In my headphones this gun sounds amazing. I think it just need more mods to make it better as far as i know it only has a different grip and receiver.

I just get to the last shot, and spam the trigger so he keeps firing the last shot and then reloads one bullet by the time I shoot the second, so I just stay last shot lol

The reloading animation is so damn slow. I've shot these type of guns and they do not take that dang long. It's like slow motion and half the time it stops at 1 bullet being reloaded and you have to do it again. Devs must hate single action revolvers or something.

Skill issue. I run the fancy quad and it drops most enemies, try getting some skill in non vats builds 🥱🥱🥱
