At this point I think we need to start saying it “had” potential. The game is a lot better now and I honestly think Bethesda does have a core audience for the game, but for the mass majority the launch and surrounding pr forever tainted anything surrounding the game. It’s tragic, because I honestly think the worldspace is one of the best Bethesda has ever made, but I don’t think the game will ever reach any potential it had. That being said, I hope they do stick with it for their remaining audience, and eventually come out with a great single player fallout in the future.

Props to Bethesda Austin for steadily plugging away at improvements for this game. As a fellow player who slogged through these two years I can definitely say that the game is finally heading in the right direction and is infinitely more enjoyable to play. Low level lone wolves will find that surviving and getting things done is quite the challenge but actually feels rewarding when you accomplish your progression goals. High level players have incentive to go to previously low level events and areas which encourages teamwork and interaction of the player base. If you are a person with limited play time, challenges have been reworked in such a way that doing one challenges leads to completion of another and you can complete those tasks much more efficiently now. Even chore like challenges like consume X consumable are more reasonable. The reworks to damage and enemy scaling aren't perfect but infinitely better than before, combat feels moderately challenging even with end game min maxed builds. I'm loving the legendary perks and being able to expand your build into a secondary setup and actually making that weapon class change strong as hell. For me I increased my PER and AGI and now can run 90% of a meta OP commando build on top of PA/HVYS/Melee. The PC experience is where the game is best though, mods like SFE, Perk Loadout Manager, Better Inventory, Icon Sorting Tags or Kit's Killer Strings, TZ Map, the incredible textures from Rigell, Sphere of Chaos, Waster93 and more just elevate the game and let you customize and streamline your gameplay that much further. One thing I really want back is a long-form raid that requires objective squad play, features some tough enemies and good rewards and isn't hampered by constant time constraints and bugs. Vault 94 was actually very fun with a good squad of end game players that learned their role and played to their builds strengths. The overall difficulty of some of the objectives needed tuned down, but once your group of 4 was a well oiled machine it was a blast to play.

My friends thought I was crazy to spend so much time on this game (though I quit for about a year during that period where there was basically no new content), but now I got a few of them hooked. Walking through Appalachia is a completely unique feeling, deserted map and all. The MP is a riot and the bonus you get from being in a public party is amazing ✌😎 I had over 2000's hours on FO4 ( 50% of that was mega camp building ) Mega= A Power Armor Factory that put out over 1200 Power Armor suits 2 - 18 floor concrete & glass towers at Abernathy Farms A legendary weapons vault with over 5,000 weapons A water farm on Spectical island with 200+ water purifires & 1,000,000 bottles of purifired water A 20 story tower in Nuka World ........& many more crazy builds Love 76.... Wastelanders really turned the game around & with the game boards coming out every 3 months or so makes for some addec game play ! Now we have the BOS questline & underground bunkers plus season 3 game board starting Dec. 1st should make for some added fun...... 76 at 50% off is a steal for all of the added gameplay you get with the Wastelanders quests.... I've just started playing Fallout 76 thanks to you Kevduit and the game is pretty cool... BUT! Getting into it is really difficult. What I mean is, there are a lot of things that are difficult for me to figure out - for example, I'm leveling up and I have no idea which specials/perks will be the most important for me during the leveling process. Same goes for picking up items - it's confusing which ones will be useful and even with STR carry perks I get constantly overloaded. Cache limited to 800 items is also pretty brutal, cause I almost filled it up before 15 lvl, lol. I mean, getting stuck int he inventory window is really what can throw me away of any game. I had the same problem with ESO. Now, I really need some kind of tutorial, but even google doesn't help that much tbh. Maybe you, Kevduit can make one? Would be awesome, since I remember your ESO guides being really useful back in the day. Cheers!

And the best thing is that this year ain't done for 76. We still have steel dawn (brotherhood of steels return) new weapons,armour and camp shelters to finish up 2020 and I cant wait for the future of this game
@JudeBoi13134 жыл бұрын
As cool as steel dawn is it’s really doesn’t make any sense story wise I feel like Bethesda brought the BOS back for the sake of bringing them back even though they realistically shouldn’t have any presence in the east coast yet. It just seems like another way for Bethesda to get as much attention toward 76 as possible. At this point they don’t even care about their own games lore.
@jamescarneal78184 жыл бұрын
@@JudeBoi1313 I wouldn't count them out lore wise just yet the next dlc after steel dawn is fractured steel which I assume will see this chapter of the bos broken and defeated thereby retaining lore continuity in one form or another
@joshuakim52404 жыл бұрын
@@JudeBoi1313 The Appalachia BoS was written to not be an actual BoS chapter, but a proxy one that wasn't really all that loyal to the cause. It's hard asf to actually pinpoint the story because of how half the BoS journals are pointless dribble, but the nutshell version is that the Appalachia BoS were actually a army ranger unit that Maxon radioed contact with around the time when he formed the BoS, and during the time when he's trying to contact other surviving army units to join his cause. But the problem with the Appalachia unit was that it was Taggerdy's Thunder, led by a very angry and civilian disliking person, Taggerdy, and Taggerdy found the idea of the BoS to be stupid glorified LARPing so instead of properly secure dangerous tech, she used that tech to go rambo on the Scorchbeasts and her unit died trying to wipe them out. Interestingly, this does align with BoS xenophobia post-Maxon because this incident kind of proved that inviting outsiders to the BoS is a bad idea.
@JudeBoi13134 жыл бұрын
@@joshuakim5240 Well thanks for clearing that up. As a veteran fan of fallout I just hate to see what the BOS has become. Fallout 4s commonwealth chapter of the BOS brings them back to their original goal but I still feel as if they are a bit to open to outsiders. I just hope in the next fallout game we get to see the BOS as they truly should be but i suppose it all depends on the elder and their views on how the brotherhood should be
@reggie10254 жыл бұрын
@@joshuakim5240 Taggerdy didn’t hate civilians, she just wasn’t good relating to them anymore. She was a good tactical leader, but not a charismatic visionary like Maxon. While she didn’t buy in to the idea of the Brotherhood when Maxon first introduced it, based on her final holotape, she was all in by the time of her final assault on the SBQ at Glassed Cavern, even if using the nuke went against orders. She didn’t sign off as an Army Ranger when she knew she was going to die. She signed off a true BoS Paladin. Ad Victorium.

It's gosh damn refreshing to see someone actually talking positively about this game. Fallout 76 was actually my first ever exposure to the Fallout series, and --- well... Was the game as glitchy and broken as people said it was near release? I've not ever seen any proof of it. I saw only two glitches when I first started playing; and those were: 1. 1-3 pieces of ammo would inexplicably just poof for no apparent reason, from my inventory. and 2. A pre-scripted spawn for a quest, a Deathclaw, would just go completely invisible. He was still there! Just.. couldn't see him. It was not difficult at all for me and my boyfriend to just kill it anyway. Fallout 76 is awesome, and to me, it still was even in the earlier days of its lifecycle.

Walking away from FO76 that early on wasn’t an option for them. It would’ve been one PR nightmare too many. If they’d been serious about turning FO76 around then it would’ve received a much needed bump in resources, in terms of actual developers maintaining the game. Unfortunately, that’s never materialised. We get one patch a month, when the game is drowning in so many issues they could fill a book. Any effort to stamp out new bugs just reintroduces old ones, because Bethesda Austin isn’t using version control. There are dozens of QOL issues which could each be fixed in under two minutes (seriously. Data miners have shown they are just things that are incorrectly numbered) but are just left to fester. The game has been floundering under server issues for the past month because developers updated it with an old .exe in the last patch. Being a fan of this game is still a deeply frustrating experience. Yes, all updates are free, which is great, but equally that doesn’t mean we forfeit the right to criticise their wobbly foundations. War frame is a GAAS that’s the polar opposite to FO76. Polished, balanced, with issues addressed quickly and clear communication from the developers. That is also largely free.

@@megaman161 I do understand that Hello Games is not as big as a company as Bethesda, and Bethesda should not have released 76 in the state it was in, but we should to be impressed with how far both games have come in their life cycle. 76 is still a little buggy and does still have some mechanics that, in my opinion, seem unnecessary, but the game is not as bad as launch day. I got the game a long while ago, just when Nuclear Winter was released, or about a month after. I just wanted to play it to see what it was about, cause I had never played a fallout game before. I have skyrim, and that game is one of my favorites, but fallout was new to me, and when I first loaded out of Vault 76, the sound design immediately made me love the game. I didn't like it in terms of gameplay, cause I wanna explore everything from the start, and I couldn't. I wanted to be able to interact with NPCs and such, and they weren't there, and I just kinda played to play if I was literally dying of boredom, and that was it, then I heard that Wastelanders dropped and I have been playing it since then because I legitimately enjoy it. The sound is amazing. I live in Tennessee, but I have family in West Virginia, and the scenery and sound is exactly like it and it is beautiful. My buddy and I usually go and play to start building the craziest characters we can. Right now my build is something I call "I Am the Big Iron". I'm focusing on revolvers and power armor lol I carry the big iron, and I wear the big iron. I embody the big iron. My friend is going for a rifleman, and another friend is doing a skyrim stealth archer minus the stealth, plus a lot of grenades. We have so much fun just doing random shit and the npcs and story are a huge bonus to our shenanigans. I don't know what I was intending to say when I started this comment, but I love the video. It really goes through and gives me a synopsis of everything I missed, and also gives me a good picture of what the game is like now. Thanks for making it.
