I think it's important you notice that the two people in the recording they show Lucy in Vault 4, with the scientists attacked by the Overseer's great uncle Peter (On his mother's side :) ) are the same scientists in the Vault-Tec advert (Because he's advertising Vault 4 too!). These people in the ad say that the vault is governed entirely by scientists who are to study the effects of radiation in the DNA, a proposition that seems incredibly beneficial for the cault communities that will repopulate the world after a nuclear holocaust. And yet among their experiments we see a deformed monster with multiple rows of fingers for teeth, and a woman captive in a tank who is made to gestate mutant fish that will devour her after she gives birth. The point is that Vault-Tec is f*cked up, which you already suspect, but this shows you one of the many specific ways in which Vault-Tec is f*cked up. It's not worth a doctoral thesis in film studies but I think these are realy cool details that make watching the episodes with care really worth it, or at least give it more than one watch.

In most storytelling, I would agree about the probability of certain things, but this is Fallout. This is a universe where luck plays a role. Luck is the L in the acronym S.P.E.C.I.A.L., which stands for Strength, Perception, Endurance, Charisma, Intelligence, Agility, and Luck.

I have a suggestion for a show to watch! It’s called “Vox Machina” It’s based on a D&D campaign that a bunch of famous voice actors, such as Ellie from the last of us, plays in! The community liked the show so much that when they put up on kickstarter that they wanted to animate a little episode for it, it instead became the MOST FUNDED kickstarter ever for an animation. And now it’s a whole series with 2 seasons and a third on the way. But! I’d like to see your perspective because you’re a writer! And D&D writing is about making a story with multiple people at the same time. And because it’s a tabletop game some of the basic narrative trends like “don’t kill off important characters” aren’t set in stone. Yet the story is good, well I think at least. Also Baldurs Gate 3 was nominated game of the year winning 6 awards, and that is a D&D game! So… there’s the tie in to modern gaming 😅

One thing to keep in mind about this setting is that everyone's a little dumb lol. Fallout has a reputation for juxtaposing the dark and serious with the absurd. The "convenience" of the plot could honestly be chalked up to the games. Sometimes things are a little too convenient for the protagonist, but often with unexpected results.
@Ferdawoon4 ай бұрын
Yeh and a decent part of the games is the choice between something that could be seen as the morally right and something that could make your gameplay easier. For example Lucy and Maximus leaving Vault 4 with the Power Armor. Returning the Fusion Core to the Vault could be the morally right thing to do but that might make combat in the future harder because they no longer have access to the Power Armor. But Lucy and Maximus could also have chosen to keep the Fusion Core because they (or the player) deem the success of the mission to be more important than the population of one Vault! They could even reason that the Vault could start trading with outsiders for fuel or start a town on the surface and still prosper. There are a few of those choices in the games and they are usually quite interesting. As a player it is easy to be detached to the decision as it is just pixels on a screen and no real ramification to me or real humans if the computer program kills some units or if they get to live, but if you try to see it from the perspective of the played character some of the choices can be outright horrible. Maybe a necessary evil but still horrible.

Still gonna throw the recommendation for the Shoddycast Fallout Storyteller series, it’s a great KZbin series with a soothing narration of the the things going on in the Wasteland and the back when times, from taking about organizations like The Brotherhood, NCR and Enclave and other things, like why the use bottle caps, The FEV Virus which our dear friend Thaddeus might have injected as well as so much more. If you’re interested in learning more about the Fallout universe it’s the best place to go.

It is interesting as I've seen people suspect both Betty, Eyepatch-Stephanie and even Norm! The case could have bneen an excellent episode of a Detective show! Betty with her comment that people need something to fuss about. Both Norm and Steph seemed quite happy if the Raiders died during that initial meeting after the attack Norm was the one to cart the Jell-o and offer the rest to the female guard (making her a suspect as she had the "murder weapon"). Betty was the one to assign Norm to the duty of feeding the prisoners giving him access to poisoning the Raiders. Both Betty and Steph are from Vault 31 and would have access to poison the Jell-O while implicating Norm (mayeb Betty had planned to poison them when assigning Norm) Steph did not seem very bothered when she said how horrible it was what had happened to the Raiders. So many clues pointing in each direction!

It's interesting how you get annoyed by minor inconsistencies and things a show glosses over, I think the reason they do is because of time and budget perhaps. And I think the reason you find yourself annoyed by this is because you are an author, a book has a lot of time to meticulously set the scene and provide lots of information. maybe your writers brain processes the show like a book. I dont know. what do you think of this?
@HannaHsOverInvested4 ай бұрын
I think also because as a novel writer I have to be so aware of all of the details because I have the ability to put them in so I also figure out ways to give information very quickly. You're only doing it for the views "No duh, I'm producing a KZbin show... Actually I was thinking I would just throw it in the Mariana trench for a kraken to watch 🙄" Outside of plot convenience, if you're tracking someone with your Pip-Boy you head in their general direction and if you're behind them you'll probably follow around the same paths, but also, especially with something I like, I love watching the logic get torn apart. Speaking of which I checked to see and you don't have a reaction to arcane, you'll get a lot of views with it, love it and hate it, it's loosely based off League of Legends and your little girl Gucci here from fallout voices a main character. If you do decide to watch it with your audience you can definitely add me to that group along with a lot of other people... If you're not going to do the episodes one for one the format is technically three parts of 3 episodes each, it's neatly put together with the 369 model and season 2 is on its way...
