@HGChaosNL
@HGChaosNL 28 күн бұрын
At first I didn't like how they made the stimpack so effective at healing someone (like it is in the games) because characters probably wouldn't be in danger as much and it wouldn't be as engaging AND THEN DOGMEAT GOT HURT and I was very upset, so upset that I didn't think about stimpacks. Suffice it to say I am now VERY happy that they made the stimpack so effective at healing someone.

The greatest compliment I can give to Episode 1, is that it's loaded with fan service, that doesn't feel like fan service. Great fan service should also be world building to the new viewer, and I think they pulled that off. It didn't feel inserted, or like an "in" joke.

Fallout 1 and 2 completely take place in California and you start in California in New Vegas before you cross into Nevada. When Bethesda started making the games they moved the story to the east coast with DC, Boston and Appalachia. The fact the show is bringing the lore back to the west means the my might tie the original lore into the show, this take place about 150 years after Fallout 1.

6:15 Vault 8 (Fallout 2) was a control vault. The Inhabitants left on-schedule and used their G.E.C.K. to establish Vault City.
@travisspaulding5835
@travisspaulding5835 Ай бұрын
This is on the Fallout Wikipedia and I found it to be interesting: “Around 400,000 Vaults would have been needed, but only 122 were commissioned and constructed. Each Vault is self-sufficient, so they could theoretically sustain their inhabitants indefinitely. However, the Vault project was not intended as a viable method of repopulating the United States in these deadly events. Instead, most Vaults were secret, unethical social experiments and were designed to determine the effects of different environmental and psychological conditions on their inhabitants….17 control Vaults were made to function as advertised in contrast with the Vault experiments, but were usually shoddy and unreliable due to most of the funding going towards the experimental ones.”

Yeah, I mean it has to be, specially after a generation or two, like is mostly a "modern" phenomenon (last 200 years maybe) that so many people live close enough or move around far enough to have a relationship with someone that doesn't have some sort of easily traceable family connection... small towns or even large ones, didn't get "new" blood as often as modern cities and such do now.

I don't know how to say how much I loved this without spoiling things so I'll just say this, if you enjoy the games, you will enjoy this series. There is genuine love for the world that the video game has built in the show and spotting all the little nods to the game is only part of the enjoyment of watching.

it basically is the start of fallout 3 and people do nothing but complain about that. it works for a serial though. alot of what works in the series wont work in a game. the flashbacks (i hated fallout 4 forcing me to care about shaun or nate/nora), having to get duped by the wedding would suck, the raiders were super obvious. i don't think it's a spoiler to say most of the show is focused on speechcraft resolutions to problems. this would play out more like a telltale game than an rpg

My theory on the vault experiment is that there are limited breeding generations in each vault and limited resources between the vaults, deficits on each side, that leads to the forced trade process and deliberate commercial exempted isolation. A study on how ‘good fences make good neighbors’ could be contorted.

Few quick notes; the lights in a vault are supposed to simulate actual sunlight for living underground for long periods, and there were actually several control vaults. Vault 101 (Fallout 3) is one of them, also the vault with the GECK in Fallout 3 was a control vault, but it took a direct hit that breached it. There's also two rich person vault in Fallout 4, one where you find Nick Valentine (it costs loads to get in, but then inside it's all communal showers and dorm rooms, so it's 100% scam) and there's the one on Far Harbour under the hotel.

This was really fun! Having now watched the first episode, the Vault environment that Jane references around 15:40 (with the picnic tables and the simulation of an outside space) looks very much like it's visually referencing the underground habitat that's depicted towards the end of "A Boy and His Dog". Which would make a lot of sense, given how much that film (and Harlan Ellison's original novella) seems to have directly influenced the creation of the Fallout games. I would love to hear your views regarding the rest of the series!

I love that they picked Walton Goggins to be a ghoul, I feel like someone saw him in the 'Maze Runner: The Death Cure' and was like "yep, he's got this, bring him in".

I'm with Andy on loving discovering and exploring the different caults and learning about all of the varied and horrifying experiments Vault Tec was running; it'd be great to get an episode of learning to her horror that they were all unknowingly part of some perverse experiment.

I’m 29, I’ve been a fallout fan since fallout 3 came out, I still have the issue of game informer with it on the cover, and I couldn’t be more pleased. I’ve played all mainline games 1- 76 and I really feel like you can tell this was worked on by real fans of the games. Seriously surprised at how good it is, like everyone else I was cautiously optimistic going in but man I’m glad we get a good Fallout tv show, it’s just nuts lol.

Cooper Howard was ALSO a marine before he became an actor. So he's not just playing cowboy, he has military training.

That’s not the Prydwen, it’s a sister ship called the Caswennan (another name for King Arthur’s ship).

Thank you, I assumed it was the Prydwen as well.

I'm sorry but the thing literally says Prydwen on the side of it (and has done so visibly since the first trailer). I suspect the Caswennan thing was just a smoke screen from the production to avoid spoilers.

@@bjiornbjiornthat’s weird then. As the show’s wikis and online articles and even the amazon description all say it’s the sister ship of the Prydwen. Also weird considering the Prydwen has never had its name on the side of it.

@@666FallenShadow Episode 1, 36:29. You can quite clearly see Prydwen printed on the metal cowling. Specifically there is the brotherhood of steel logo on one of the panels and then, on the 7 panels to the left of it, each one has a single letter printed on it. It's much more obvious on a Laptop or TV than on a phone if that helps.

It was perfect. So much so that I threw out my plans to watch it over the course of the weekend and found myself finishing episode 8 as the sun came up this morning 😂. It just kept getting better and better. I couldn't believe how faithful to the world and lore of the games it was. I just didn't want to turn it off. One of the biggest compliments I can give it is that it made me want to play through the games again so that I have more fallout to watch.

Fallout 1 and 2 have a large tract of land to go over, from the coast of California (From San Francisco to New Reno), and features among their factions the New California Republic, which is also a major faction in Fallout: New Vegas
