Had to hop out for a minute and let you know this worked for me as well. Took a bit of fiddling, but your video had easy and clear instructions, and I stopped crashing after my second time of following your instructions. So far so good, just wanted to say thanks for putting in the time to share. Not all heroes wear capes. (unless you're wearing a cape of course.) :)

For the people with crashes caused for the torch, there is a mod that improves the ATTA flashlight called "Less Washed Out Flashlight" it could be enough to avoid this and improve gameplay, the comments in the mod are all good and happy while using it.

Something I want to add that I found out after making this video is that the torch you pick up while escaping the lab can cause problems for some people. The solution seems to be unequipping it and using the standard Pipboy light.

@JokeMcjokey The utility belt is to hang your ATTA boy and torch from. I'm not sure you can unequip the belt but you can unequip the torch.

@@Smokey957you can unequip the belt I have currently only the torch equipped. I have only seen one crash so I might try using the pipboy light if it does it again to see if it helps. I did install the crash logger so next time it does it I can sorta have a better idea on why. It’s nothing with my PC specs its more than enough for this mod in fact I’m running over 90 fps on average with a 5800X3D and a 4080 Super, with the Reactor ENB, Marty’s RTGI shaders and PureDark’s DLSS3 mod. Game looks gorgeous with those on my Ultrawide.

already used the F4se start approach and buffout4, but still got a crash when trying to leave the U96 after completing the mission But either unequiping (or turning off) the Torch or the start as admin thing did the Trick, Thank you man :)

Thanks very much for these tips after all others have failed! I've managed a good 2 hours gameplay today on my high end rig (R9 7950X3D, Strix 4090) with no crashes! I run as admin using the f4se loader and have added the Buffout4 mod. So far, so good.

If your game is crashing after the fallout london logo. I just opened the launcher on steam put settings down to low (view dist, object etc) exited, open again on gog and worked fine you can then save and exit to put settings back up. Hope this helps

Thanks, Buffout 4 (and F4SE Loader, I think) fixed my crashes/CTD. The only issue now is 15-30 s loading time when entering/exiting buildings - but this is normal I guess.

After pissing about for days, I finally got it in a position where the load time is fine, and no random crashes. Only infinite load times when long fast travel - easily avoided. So happy, because I already love the game! Now, it won't load! At all. Crashes on launch, and crashes so I have to re-start the PC - can't Task Manager out of it. What a journey this is! I know they are working on a big Hotfix, but I'm invested now - Level 10, getting decent weapons and armour. I have things to do, people in London are depending on me! - it will hurt to have to abandon it until the Hotfix.

The problem I’m having is that occasionally saving in certain areas causes my game to crash on load screen if I restart the game. I can reciprocate this issue with saving in the glades then quitting and booting up the game in the glades shopping mall. Happens in other areas too.

You can unequip the torch and use the ATTA boy for light. Hopefully that'll stop the crashes.

Sadly it doesn't fix the issue, where if I wanna go back to the "Train Crash" location the game crashes immediately, if I get close to the area itself. Update: Unequiping the torch fixed things.

I had my Steam and Gog version of the game files conflict with each other 20 hours into my playthrough, you can tell this is the issue because you see your game settings have changed from the GOG/F4SE when you relaunch after the initial crash. this is how I fixed but don't think its a permeant solution. follow the steps of this video and at the end launch Fallout 4 on steam and play a few minutes to check for crashes then make a save and launch the F4S play that save you just made and check stability. mine was crashing a few seconds after any load but after this it plays fine again.

My game crashed repeatedly as soon as the first train ride ends and the FOLON logo appears. I tried to get the Buffout mod hoping to fix it but it needs three other mods just to do so and I became so confused with it all I gave up in frustration and ultimately deleted the game. The bit I did experience was very good and I was looking forward to playing, but I’ve never been any good with all of this modding so the best I can do is watch the playthroughs of others on KZbin. It’s a pity, really, since I’ve followed the project almost since it was first announced.

I played with it some more last night. Fallout London does automatically install the requirements for Buffout4, so just follow the above vid exactly and you should have better results!

I really appreciate this, unfortunately even after all your steps I was unable to play. It crashes after I select new game and then the icon spins in the bottom right for a bit, fuzzy tv screen does one sweep and it completely freezes my pc everytime. I previously owned the game on steam and couldn’t get that to work with the downgrades so I purchased it for GOG and same results, I no doubt have messed something up but am just frustrated and wanna play some new fallout adventure haha. Maybe check if your Steam version is still installed and if so delete it. Also make sure your cloud save is disabled because it sounds like you have conflicts between GOG and Steam.

@@Smokey957 I will try deleting all of steam files and then load a fresh copy into gog. I’m Sure it’s something I’m doing as I know you and others have made it work, unfortunately IR dumb lol. This is why I generally play console titles that are watered down to work for newbs like me haha. I’ll let you know if those tips help, much appreciated! It’s been frustrating, fallout is still one of my favorites of all time

@@Smokey957 good news I was able to sort my particular issue. To problem solve I eliminated the possibility of old saves/files and still didn’t work so I made another GOG account, installed the game again and still same issue, so then I knew it wasn’t that, so I went back to your video and even though I had settings on low my resolution was at 1900/1080 so I dropped it down more (I had previously assumed by clicking the low setting tab this was performed but apparently in my case it defaults low to 1900), and presto it works so far, playing on a Lenovo legion go so it’s not super powerful in comparison to a desktop. Is weird that they are recommending installing Buffout 4 since the Fallout London installer itself install a copy of Buffout 4 inside the F4SE plugin folder I currently am having the problem that randomly it crashes with the error of XAudio2_7.dll !

To my knowledge Buffout 4 is not included in the the Fallout London installer and is thus recommended to manually install it to improve stability. Sorry to hear about your crash errors.

I don't think it's available with a RTX card (if you have one) so there won't be this option available.

@@Smokey957 Playing into it a bit, did have one crash and exit and a crash notification log this was when I loaded my game, and had one weird glitch which fixed up after I took off I think my welding gogs, also had a bit of an in game temporal freeze and loading icon at the bottom right because the textures didn't immediately load up but once they did the game resumed. So not quite out of the woods yet on my end but I can at least play the game now.

@@ateeshJ Sounds like Fallout London is not loading over vanilla FO4. Double check if you don't have any active mods or anything loaded/enabled.

@@Smokey957 I moved the modded FO4 folder to a separate drive and deleted the saves after I made a backup. Also deleted all the files that were left in the Steam FO4 folder before I downloaded the game again. But i'll give it another go.

Hey man, do you happen to know a place (forum/website) where I can get the id's of locations so that I can fast travel to them via command console? I fought through all the crashes this game threw at me every time I exit a location (always happens when doing a quest), but now I'm hard stuck at the monument/underground lab. I tried everything but I realized just entering this damn place is a death sentence since leaving it will always result in a crash.

@@Smokey957 Nah, I made sure to turn it off once I skimmed through this comment section with your suggestions, it didn't work. Don't worry though, I remembered that I had the sleep walker unique perk and slept at the lab to help teleport me somewhere else. I skimmed through my previous crash saves and noticed that the rad storm is usually present during them, so once I fast traveled back the monument after the sleepwalker perk, low and behold, there was a rad storm happening there, know any fixes for this storm or how to turn it off?

You need to use the installer to install Fallout London into the same folder where Fallout 4 is installed. The installer should add the F4SE folder.

I'm glad your game seems more stable than most. If you're worried you installed Buffout 4 wrong it is possible to manually remove the Buffout files or you can remove and reinstall the F4SE folder/files.

@@Smokey957 yeah it is odd that for many london just crashes. i am glad my experience is a lot better than others. but its also a bit sad to see that a lot of people are having issues with it. i am also actively trying to help out in the new california server with other moderators and admins, to try and help fix some issues with london. i think a lot of crashes also have to do with people using other mods along side london. i did also notice another thing, well 2. the creation club content causes issues too, and the high textures dlc from bethesda is also causing issues with it for most. its rare that it works with london (i got the texture dlc on myself and it works but the CC content does cause issues for me)

@@freakklomp Yes the CC stuff and the HD DLC do cause issues because they straight up conflict with London, but FOLON did warn people in the past that they weren't compatible. I'm finding that a lot of problems are being caused by like you said people wanting to keep their old mods while still playing London. People who seem to be having the least issues are those that purged any old FO4 files and mods from their PC's before they installed Fallout London.

Oh no! When you uninstall delete everything! Everything in you GOG/Steam folder, Documents folder, everything. then try to reinstall because a normal uninstall doesn't actually remove everything.

I still have fallout 4 steam installed, and have been using vortex for mods. I bought fallout 4 gog, installed it, along with fallout london to get a separate version without having to deal with problems caused by having additional components to deal with in the steam version. Because I have vortex associated with my steam version, I disabled all the mods in it. I am not sure how to associate vortex with fallout 4 gog, and of course I don't have fallout 4 SE associated with it. So my directory structure, and installed software is different than your video. Is there anyway you could outline what I need to do in detail? I would find it very useful if you did another video, as at the moment I am at the fourth installation of Fallout Gog, and Fallout London, and still dealing with crashes. Without details of what to do I am feeling quite lost, it would be nice to have some help as the Fallout London people are being aloof, and unresponsive to the crashes, and getting everything set up. You might agree that they are falling down on this; its like they could no longer bother with getting their mod properly installed for people. It feels like they wish to abandon their project; or at least they are abandoning their mod users for what ever reason by leaving us hanging. They haven't changed their mod installation instructions to deal with this at all, because we certainly have tons of interest in their mod. Its bloody annoying that Bethesda came out with BS updates that broke mod use in the game that I continued playing for years only because of what the mods did for what was a basic and outdated game and kept it fresh and playable for years. We all know rpg's have a limited shelf life because of tech improvements, etc. Bethesda should be bloody grateful, to us, and mod authors, yet Howard is such an arrogant A.H. he sabotages what kept us playing his game. Nice going Tod. If folks doing Fallout London have lost capacity to fix their mod lately I would hardly blame them. I expect there is a good chance of giving up playing even though I have been a player, off and on since its launch day.

I did something similar to you and bought the GOG FO4 and that will permanently be Fallout London for me and my Steam version I'll play other mods on. You don't need to worry about installing F4SE into your GOG version as that is included with the Fallout London mod. As for linking you GOG version with Vortex simply don't. Every one I've asked and every post I've read researching for this video recommend manually installing mods like Buffout 4 into Fallout London. The reason seems to be that Vortex doesn't recognize the difference between the Steam and GOG installs. What I recommend for your last problem of trying to get Fallout London to work is to purge all your current FO4 mods off Vortex, don't just disable as this will keep the mod files on your PC (maybe make a private collection so you can easily reinstall them later) and then uninstall FO4 from Steam. Once this is done install your GOG FO4 and Fallout London. I did this because I was getting save conflicts having both Steam and GOG versions on my PC. I do agree that FOLON has been too quiet after launch. They initially gave some tips but then went very quite especially on Reddit where most of us find our answers. Thankfully there are some other heroes out there who have picked up the sword and are fighting to get answers and solutions. I wish you all the luck possible getting the game to run and yes if I find more solutions to problems I will make another video.

No mod author has any responsibility to the end user to troubleshoot every possible thing that could go wrong with all the variables involved. I imagine they would rather be working on fixing things than answering every question. Patience grasshopper.

My installed Fallout London has F4SE, while Fallout 4 GOTY is missing it. If I run F4SE from the Fallout London directory i get a popup that says it can't find fallout4.exe. When you made your video, if I recall correctly F4SE was already in your F4GOTO dir., so you didn't do install instructions, and just copied it in. I purged my mods for my steam version as you suggested, and uninstalled the steam Fallout 4. What version number of F4SE do I need? Do you have any further suggestions? BTW thanks for the D.M. earlier, I very much appreciate it.

@@Smokey957 Yes. Only stuck my toe in so far, no crash. Turns out GOG had installed FO4SE into the GOTY folder (I wasn't checking the data subfolder). I have a Steam copy, but decided my sanity was worth $16, so I bought the GOG version. Much cleaner install. The GOG install guide recommends Buffout and another load manager mod. Starting the game from the SE loader fixed another problem I had with games starting minimized. Good luck to you. Let us know if you got your game going.

unfortunately, I just did all of these tips and played for 1/2 hour before it crashed to black. Had to restart PC, couldn't even alt/tab out of it. Oh well, guess I'll wait for another update that hopefully fixes all the issues.

Well that's not good the Fallout London installer is supposed to add it in! You've got a few options: 1. If you haven't already try running the Fallout London installer again, 2. Do a complete download & reinstall of at least Fallout London if not Fallout 4 as well.

Do you have both Fallout 4 Steam and GOG versions installed? As this could be causing a conflict. Or the problem may be that you haven't cleared the old data out of your My Games\Fallout 4 folder. The possible solution is different depending if you have two installs or not. If you only have one then delete your .ini files and run the game to create new settings. If you have two installs you're going to need to create a new one. For example copy your current My Games\Fallout 4 folder and rename it Fallout 4 Steam and link this to your Steam, Vortex etc to run your Steam version. Then repeat the first step of deleting your .ini files in the original folder, run FOLon and use that for your GOG install. I hope I explained this okay and that it helps.

I am not going spoil the luck but so far it is fine. I think that even on stronger systems ULTRA settings are "no no" especially object distance. On my RTX4070 I have frames as much as man can wish (I am fine with 60 or 72 always on 120 or 144hz) but it is just some glitch that crash the game. It is engine and code issue me thinks. Atmosphere in the game so far is above Fallout 4 . We'll see but this is De Jure mod but De Facto this is fully fledged (at least) AA production level game in it's own right.

I agree that Ultra settings are a no go for FOLon. On paper my system can easily run it on Ultra but I got much better stability by dropping it down to High, and honestly the difference to me is minimal.

I may have the fix, for you, as none of this helped me, either. See, in London coding, it seems laptops are not able to maintain charging, while playing, so a power issue. Nix power issue by opeing FO4 game, forst, and choose option to run in window mode. Since doing this, as well as disabling 'anti-aliasing', I've had no crashes. Hope this helps.
