Especially since it also puts an end to their expansionism (for a time at least), theoretically allowing them to finally focus on consolidating and pacifying the conquests made before the Mojave campaign while simultanously crippling their strongest opposition in the East.

It has probably been said bunches of times. If you incite a full on war between the Kings and NCR, then go for the House ending, you get the ending with the King saying: "During the Second Battle of Hoover Dam, some Kings took it upon themselves to launch several attacks on NCR citizens and soldiers around Freeside. Mr. House looked on these actions favorably, seeing them as proof of The Kings' loyalty to New Vegas, and decided to leave them alone."

Killing Mr. House is always the hardest part of the game for me. "A Tragedy Has Befallen Mankind" lost it's impact once I realized it was just some obituary that House wrote himself, but the in-game pop-up of "Mr House is dead. His dreams for New Vegas will never be realized." always feels like a punch in the gut. But siding with him requires rendering the BOS homeless (can't bring myself to kill them all personally) and leads to the Kings being wiped out (or making them bloodthirsty and hateful of the NCR). It's like, what do you do, man?
@untruereal7 жыл бұрын

Gryphon Botha Yeah but if you side with Mr. House in a few years the Strip will expand and the neighbours will get more chances at life so in a way the Kings ideals can be fulfilled longterm by siding with Mr. House and as far as BOS is concerned King Arthur in Fo4 proves Mr. House right, the BOS is too dangerous to be kept in the Mojave they make the region unstable.

@samuelwithers22216 жыл бұрын
I could never side with House because of the ramifications it would have on NCR. The Republic's economy is severely weakened after the Brotherhood's terrorist attack on their gold reserves, and impending famine within the next decade is looming. This can be solved by the Vault 22 data, but that project could take time the Republic doesn't have. The only real way to keep the NCR and it's citizens from suffering starvation, collapse, and in fighting is to give them the resources of the Mojave so they can buy time for a more long-term solution (Vault 22 data). With that knowledge, the fact that nearly all side factions can get a happy ending under NCR, and that House isn't the *only* hope for space travel (Think Tank and Mothership Zeta should be plenty), I side with the NCR.

@Dorkeydaze5 жыл бұрын
I agree. We have members in the UN running a sex slavery operation, and not 1 has been inprisioned! Smh. You know the saying “justice is a meal best served cold?” Well it resonates with so many people because it’s true. Justice isn’t meant to be a tool to punish or chastise people you don’t like; the rule of law is meant to keep people safe and to ensure the survival of a civilized society: Don’t kill and don’t steal These two things create the foundations of the law and is from this corner stone that the civilization itself built upon. A world without justice is a world of chaos and depravity, and has Mr. house said “I have a good hand trust me; I dealt it myself.” Why should we allow the strong to abuse the weaker masses? The law is a tool in which mankind high or low, big or small is truly make equal under.

@theghostofthomasjenkins96434 жыл бұрын
it's actually a major win for the ncr. oliver and kimball were driving the ncr into the ground. they were the source of most of the corruption. with their loss at hoover dam, both get disgraced and removed, meaning reform can actually take place. if you side with the ncr, you ensure that the two corrupt people running them are in power for decades to come. gives you a bit to think about.
@shroomer38673 жыл бұрын
If you think about it, it allows the NCR to retreat safely from the Mojave, as per-say if you the Courier didn't exist, that means that in the Battle of Hoover Dam the Legion would be able to assault the NCR and win off the Hoover Dam as they were prepared to ambush them inside of the Dam. This would mean that if the Courier didn't exist to help any of the factions, the NCR would have to retreat, but the only road they could do so is Highway 95, which is now controlled to the east by Legion. Some people may die but at least that's tolerable compared to living in an unforgiving wasteland during a post-apocalyptic world. Mr House made New Vegas as a hopeful oasis that the New World can look upon, a symbol hope for a bright future and all in the span of 7 YEARS! The NCR is too corrupt to make a change & Caesar's Legion is too authoritarian & the monsters in Old World Blues would attack New Vegas in a few years due to their growing population and the only way to repel them are bright lights, something that Mr. House can do. The NCR: Trying to recapture the Past. The Legion: Trying to keep to the Present. Mr. House: Aims for the Future. This was always my views of the Main Three Factions and it’s why I felt like House was the Best choice. The NCR are trying to get us back to the past similar to an Enclave approach but more peaceful, The Legion are preventing us from progressing due to fear of becoming like The Past when the bombs dropped (setting mankind back) resulting in a desire to keep us as we are in a Survivalist Present & House has plans to further progress us to a Future beyond what we ever were at before the Bombs fell (with him eternally filling over of course).

@@egeorgiades93 This is why Independant always felt like the true ending to me. You hold the cards and can stack the deck against anyone you wish. You become a god at the end of the game, with your resources and allies, you can unite the Mojave tribes to form a nation. Like Ulysses said, "there's a shadow of a nation behind you", it always stuck with me. Poetic in a way you can atone for the disaster of the Divide. It sticks best with the narrative of the game, "Let Go, Begin Again". Always wanted to see an intelligent courier play 4D chess with the wasteland factions, establishing diplomacy and building an empire. Its the most open-ended and potential ripe ending. Man I would kill for an after Hoover DLC, have your own council with representatives from each Mojave tribe and settlement, politics both internal and external, rebuilding, putting the quarry and concrete mixing yard to use, using Vault 22 to start farming, putting the Enclave remenants to use to train a military for me etc. People always shit on Independant on how its doomed to instantly collapse. Butt under a smart Courier with good reputation and karma? It can flourish. Once the Mojave is on its feet and stable as a nation, and in capable hands, the Courier can head on with his travels. That was always my headcanon ending.

The thing I love about House's ending is that he isn't there to conquer the world. He claims the Mojave (which is not even 1/10th the size of the NCR or the Legion, mind you) and wants to build up that area. If anything, he wants to co-exist alongside the NCR, have tourists and intermingle with each other, war is bad for business with him and he knows that. It's part of why I usually side with him, a plan for the future and a morally ambiguous side. He is anti-war and in a way, that's what makes him such a interesting faction to side with, as you can see how the NCR and the Legion grow, by conquering. It's nice to have a faction that just wants to ensure its safety and stay within its borders and grow economically.

At least 4 had better DLCs. Lonesome Road had atrocious, vague, nonsensical, heavy-handed writing and a shitty antagonist who couldn't make sense to save his life(looking at you, Ulysses), and I BARELY care for or remember the Pitt. And on top of that, in addition to ALL the QoL changes that are straight-up better, FO4 has THE best companions in FO history. Nick ALONE puts 99% of all other FO companions to shame. Yeah there was intended to be a line where you convince House to work with the BOS. It’s not necessarily a good idea given that just like with Yes Man ending you’re leaving around a pile of xenophobic tech priest crazies while your entire civilization relies on a robot army, but, it is usually what I do to avoid having to kill them. Also the implication is really cool to me- House is an autocrat but he legitimately values your input if you push for the Brotherhood to be spared. His files (based on what Yes Man says once he gets them) indicate he was VERY keen on taking them out, but the cut dialogue shows you can change his mind. I like that- it shows he takes your input. If she stays, she becomes a recluse hiding away in libraries repeating her companion quest forever. Should she leave to join the Followers, the Brotherhood kills their outpost, and she ends up a drifter who can never form meaningful relationships ever again. However, if you destroy the bunker, Veronica doesn't have to worry about the Brotherhood amymore. If she wants to stay with the Followers, who's going to stop her? Not to mention that Mr House ruled from his penthouse which anyone with enough computer skill could take over, just as your character does when you choose the wild card ending. People get hung up on taxes, but they forget about society. People are stronger together, because you can bet there are a number of factions like Ceasar, or the fiends ready to rape and pillage whole towns if there isn't some sort of army or special forces to stop that.

I really wish there was a way to fight for the NCR and either Mr. House, or Vegas Independence at the same time. If I was the courier, I would have helped the NCR take the remainder of the Mojave, and instead of kicking them out of the area, would have petitioned for the New Vegas area(The Strip, Freeside, and all surrounding residential areas) to become a territory of the NCR; basically making New Vegas a part of the NCR like they want, but instead of falling under the NCR governmentally, they would instead govern themselves independently.
@PERSONAfan019 жыл бұрын
Troy Bell I really hated that with the Independent Vegas option. We could still be independent without spiting in the NCR's face but no we are forced to. Make them respect Vegas as its own independent nation, keep trade up with them and let them keep a base within borders. Don't piss them off and encourage more NCR tourists to come to New Vegas. I don't really understand how the whole revenue stream would work when they told their biggest customers to go fuck themselves.
@ThePlayer9209 жыл бұрын
***** That's hardly possible. There are only three options when dealing with them: join them, fight them or pray to Gecko Jesus that they ignore you, like they did with New Reno. Once the NCR has it's sight on something, they get it, one way or another... or die trying. They're basically a bunch of spoiled brats who have an tantrum over every little thing. Just look at Vault City and Vault 15. The NCR did anything they could to make them join their precious little republic. They even got the Bishops to help them by harrasing their traders.

+Troy Bell But the problem is that this would never happen. The NCR are ironically similar to the Legion: forcily consuming territory for power whether the locals like it or not. @Virk19979 жыл бұрын
