The Fall of Shady Sands occurring in 2277 lines up with the First Battle of the Hoover Dam, so it looks like that year, and that battle was the beginning of the downfall of the NCR. Alot of debate for a chalkboard image. My best guess is that they wanted to keep the date of the bomb vague so instead of giving a proper date with event they just used a mushroom cloud. In the video Todd says 'sometime after New Vegas' so even he doesn't know the date (or he might not know when New Vegas takes place). As for the Fall of 77 could mean anything. Hopeville did get blown up. The was the First Battle of Hoover Dam which the NCR won, but led to more fighting with the Legion. Or maybe it's an event that they want to explain in season 2. If it does turn out to be a mistake date then they left themselves enough wiggle room to get out of it.

The 1st battle of Hoover Dam was in 2277. Most likely, Josua managed to capture shady sands using a small legion force while the NCR was busy protectong the dam. However, the NCR whiped the floor with legion, so Shady Sands was probably captured for a very small amount of time.
