In this video I explore the new Prime TV show: Fallout. I think it has a brilliant series opening and I wanted to talk about it.

What did you think of the Fallout show's beginning?💣

They got the lore right of the Great War, as in the setting, they dropped truly huge numbers of (mostly) smaller nukes (like Nagasaki) and ground burst or "low altitude burst" them. That meant it did more physical damage leaving craters (air bursts do damage over a wider area but don't leave a deep crater), Many smaller explosions does more damage than just a single big one (same principle as cluster bombs today, as "overkill" is a waste) And ground bursts produce way more fallout, and then add in all the nuclear powered vehicles etc that's why the "fallout" was so bad

The fact we don't hear it is accurate. Light travels faster than sound. Have you ever noticed a lightning and only later heard the rumble it created? Yup. That same thing.

This was by far the BEST drop into the horror of nuclear devastation. This is what happened in Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Living their lives, doing their part, and then in an instant it all ends. Making it a quiet reveal also made it terrifying rather than spectacular. If it was front and center with great visuals and a loud boom, you'd have a Micheal Bay explosion that looks cool. Making it silent means its far away, but the speed at which the smoke rises makes it an inevitable threat, one that you cant hope to outrun, no matter how fast you can go. It was a perfect slap to the audience who were expecting hokey goofy New Vegas stuff, and made it realistic. They couldnt have made the begining of the show any more perfect.

New Vegas isn’t only goofy. New Vegas can get pretty serious with some of their companions quests and and the DLC’S Honest Hearts, Dead Money, and Lonesome Road. And don’t forget the Vaults.

The cinematography choices were amazing. The reflection, the slowmo the silence. The closeups of the excellent acting on the faces.

The opening was incredible. Teagan Meredith's performance as the daughter was incredible for someone so young. Her line delivery was crazy. But Goggins' face and emotion after he realizes it's actually happening is what gets me. Here we have a man who's been to war. Fought his way through all that. Came home and fought his way to the top of Hollywood. Someone who has survived exceptionally well based on his own abilities and drive (which he continues to do in the Wasteland as well). But now he's looking at this horror and completely powerless to stop it and protect the thing he cares about the most which is standing two feet from him. I haven't felt scared in over two decades myself, but in that moment, with that scene, imagining myself in his position....that chill of fear started climbing my spine. So well done.

The first explosion is I dunno just effed up. That's not like any nuclear explosion I've seen and there's a lot of film of actual ones to go by and reference when designing the (assumed) CGI. They don't explode outward for multiple seconds as dirty ground-hugging rolling clouds and only then suddenly spawn a forgotten mushroom cloud. The cloud is part of the initial explosion, remnants thereof. The overall scene is well-done but the graphics on that first explosion really takes me out of the story. I *am* amazed they found such an awesomely-expressive actress for his daughter at her age!

I can lose my life. So, I am not my life. Thus my life is not me, alive, it is dead. Can a key lose itself and not be where it is? I am a pulse, not a body, and so my pulse going away is me going away. And I, the pulse, am alive. Hence, my body is not alive. I make the dead, my body, walk. A pulse is life. So in between each pulsation I am dead, and come back to life. There is a flatline in between each pulse. So I'm dead and come back to life numerous times throughout the day. When my pulse peaks I am living, and when it is flat I am dead. So when it is in between those two, not at the top or bottom, I am the living dead.

After something happens it is the past. The present is not the past. So the present has not happened. The past is the timeline. The present is not finished, not done, not formed, not on the timeline. It is outside of time.

Once the present forms and isn't a work in progress any longer, it will then work reasonably for us. Time exists. It works and is dead and unable to do the job of being unreasonable, a dead thing with a purpose it's working toward.

Does anybody care about what time the bombs fell? 9:42 am or 9:47 am on the east coast. As a Californian, you wouldn't be able to see the sun during the fall around 6am in the morning.

I would also add, that the Great War went on for about four hours. (That's in-game lore, btw) So there is no "wrong hours."

@@csb78nm Stop revisioning the lore lmao, the bombs dropped the 23rd of October 2077 at 9:47 AM eastern time. Account the fact that on the West Coast it would be basically 6:47 AM, the show doesn't follow the lore, deal with it.

@@csb78nm Actually according to Bethesda the bombs dropped on the 23rd of October, 9:47 AM Eastern Time. So on the West Coast they'd drop at 6:47 AM. Stop changing the lore.
