Killing Kaga is a time honored tradition in all of my Fallout 2 play throughs. My favorite death so far was in his final encounter, in which K9 bit him in the groin for 1 point of damage, leading to his ribcage exploding because I had Bloody Mess.

I love the idea of a fallout protagonist having an nemesis not just villains or enemy’s they have to overcome like frank Horrigan and the master or Benny and Kellogg a reoccurring nemesis would have been awesome to have which we kinda of got with Ulysses but we were more of his nemesis than he was ours

Kaga is a fun character you encounter in the F2 Restoration mod, he ends up in Enclave power armor while his goons are still in leather. It was a worthy fight, but still outgunned with Marcus, Cassidy, Sulik and Goris in my team.

Yeah, he acts as a good shit test for your character build throughout various parts of your playthrough. It's a very natural escalation that makes the final battle way more satisfying.

Kaga is the Restoration patch, and each time I played it, I managed to kill him on the 1st or 2nd encounter. That's because I tend to build sniper characters with high luck scores and sometimes savescum. Either way, he is totally beatable.

You can kill him quite easily on the first encounter with unarmed/melee build. Ignore his minions and concentrate on him. Then just try to cripple his leg so he cannot escape. With a little bit of luck it can be done.

Some good news, there are two mods out there that will add Kaga his own talking head along with a voice actor in the near future! The Voiced talking head project will cover over 160 voiced NPC's in the RPU version of Fallout 2. This alone warrants a play though especially if you are on the fence and never played the original games, as having awesome voice acting added makes it feel like a different game entirely. PS: If you got Better Criticals perk, you can knock out Kaga and steal all his shit without killing him, this exploit is repeatable with every Kaga encounter. You can do this starting from Raiders and NCR encounter locations, don't forget the Kaga encounter is bugged and is absolutely level dependent, so don't be over-leveled otherwise you will miss out on all his encounters.

I wonder if the concept was cut and replaced with the Morton Brothers encounter chain for the very reason you identify - not being able to kill him feels cheesy, and killing him early is anticlimactic. With the Morton brothers, you get the same progression of harder and harder encounters, all linked together by the story, but you don't need to justify not killing the current threat, doing so doesn't end the encounter chain early, and instead of choosing whether to kill now or hold out for better rewards, you just get rewarded with loot every time you fight.

Kaga was an interesting concept when I played the Restoration Mod. The first encounter in older version was just a cutscene similar to encountering Frank Horrigan except meeting Kaga and fighting him. Finding out I could persuade him in the second or third encounter to leave me alone was great but I was disappointed after a certain version of the restoration mod came out since it simply made him a recurring menace I couldn't persuade into seeing how he was wasting his time going after me.

I forgot this guy was cut content. Anytime I play F02 it's with the restoration patch so he's always in the game. His fights are comically easy if you go for the Enclave Armour at Navarro early and get the energy weapons from the Brotherhood Bunker in San Fran after getting the blueprints for the BOS.

well that was the case for most of the game. after getting the advance powerarmor and an autoshotgun for small gun skill and a gaus for distance the only fight you fear are agains the critters like wanamingo floater deathclaw in the frisco costline region and the navaro patrolls. the Reno mopster. the raider arround the raiderbase became no treat anymore. and even a rare Master remain army was eays aslong no rocketlancher was on there side.

the idea was good but for such a open game like Falloiut 2 horrible to balance. you could easy reach the places and mimimum level to unlock his randome account and have skilled your avatar not for fight or have not gain the better equitment. For a new player it could be total the case that you gain no powerarmor until navaro becaus he miss that the traders in frisco have 2 inventorys for trading ( have i learn the 3 time i play F2) or miss the one from the Maripose armybase. and with his range weapons and over 300+ hitpoints his final accounter could be a harder fight as agains Frank Horrigan.
