First off the "Enclave Airship" is a mobile base crawler is a pre-war space-shuttle crawler. Crawler-transporters are a real thing that exist in our world - certainly not to the same scale as the base crawler but it's still something that exists in our world. Thing is, in Fallout 3 it's a military base built on top of a regular cralwer, so it's not like that's much better. The LIberator on the other hand is pretty much based off of pure fiction. If the U.S. government was working on anything like the LIberator, then why would the same U.S. government invest in something like LIberty Prime? I agree with Zach, not only is the Liberator way more advanced than anything else ceated by pre-war Amcerica in any of the fallout games, but it hardly resembles anything that would exist in the world of Fallout.

Like if it looked like a mix of the carrier that became rivet city and a cruiser/battleship, it'd fit as yet another resource sink that would probably have gone nowhere. The thing from fallout 3 was a mobile base crawler. which was based on the things nasa used to get rockets into place and more importantly was on treads and locked in place. the only reason why the enclave was using it was because it still had an uplink to an old satellite weapon.

It did. They could use it call down orbital missile strikes and if you looked at the computer in the final quest of Broken Steel you'll discover that the Enclave could have called a missile strike down onto the Brotherhoods base.

I think it’s kind of hilarious that Blackthorn’s entire point for leaving the NCR was that they wanted to make soldiers keep fighting another war. A defensive war even. He doesn’t care about them massacring the Khans multiple times, doesn’t care about them refusing to allow people to rule themselves, he doesn’t even care about how overstrained the NCR is and how it refuses to properly protect supply routes. Like there were so many good reasons to leave the NCR, and the mod authors used none of them, even going to the point of having the Exiles be just as bad, if not worse, about all the worst parts of the NCR. It just irks me so fucking much that they ignored actual plot points to go for the dumbass “war is hell, I don’t want to fight any more, wahhhh they didn’t approve my leave”

That was exactly what the originally released information said years ago. Blackthorne was SUPPOSED to be a general that was very popular and thought to be aiming for a presidential campaign against Kimball, and hence sent on a snipe hunt to deal with a single Legion far away from the main action. This obvious attempt to prevent his fair election through political BS was his original motivated for returning home in force. It makes way more sense than the shit we got in the mod proper.

It didn't have to take 7 years to make this. The concept behind this mod was so good. The story of why the NCR exiles exist, and the whole "they try to leave but end up in another stalemated war" thing is neat. And then they tried to flesh out that idea and it failed miserably. They didn't need to use the legion as the main adversary for the NCR, they could have made a new faction (or just use the Crusaders). And the writing is just...so bad. The mod won't shut up about how you're "the _legendary_ courier" or whatever. Considering these guys left just after the battle at Helios One, they shouldn't even know about the courier. I'm just so sad this mod sucks, because the idea was really cool.

@@ClonedGamer001 If you heard about the development of this mod, there was pretty much one guy who wanted a ton of control, fought people over the story, the damage table, a whole bunch of stuff, and pretty much threatened to leave and not allow them to use his work if he didn't get what he wanted, and I'm pretty sure he's the madlad who figured out how to put vehicles in Fallout New Vegas and the only one who really knew how to do it, and he wanted to write and be in charge of the NCR quest line, I'm also pretty sure he's different from the guy who was all gross and sparked controversy but he was very hard to work around and not many people liked his ideas. Then again this is several months old gossip spouted from memory without remembering the source, but I think it was in a video about all the nastiness surrounding the mod and they just decided to throw in a reason for why the mod's story sucked big time in there.

The biggest problem with the writing for the NCR is blackthorn, and them being “exiles”. In the lore we know the NCR itself has mechanized forces and vertibirds, they haven’t put any of it in the Mojave because the Mojave war is unpopular as it is, so they basically send the bare minimum they need to hold off the woefully under equipped in comparison legion there. Now what if, instead of the frontier NCR being exiles who want to steal a hovercraft and use it to take down a democratically elected president, they were instead the NCRs top equipped troops sent to investigate brotherhood and possibly enclave remnants gathered in force. Those are two very technologically advanced enemies for the Republic that would necessitate an entire regiment of air Calvary and armor. Instead of exiles coming to the Mojave to recruit locals, the leader of this unit flies down to McCarren himself to recruit the courier, if that courier is NCR aligned. If the courier is legion aligned, Caesar sends them to the frontier to make sure Legate Valerius isn’t going rogue. If they are BOS, McNamara sends them there. If they aren’t aligned with anyone, they can take a merchant caravan up there. Now onto the idiocy that is blackthorn. The good general seems to think the NCR had a choice with its two biggest wars, which is plain wrong. First the Brotherhood were the ones to attack the NCR, it isn’t like Kimball declared war, and as president he shouldn’t be able to. Same with the legion. NCR did not attack the legion, legion attacked the NCR. “General Blackthorn, violent slavers have attacked the strategic Hoover dam! They are going to cut off power and water both here and back home while enslaving your fellow citizens and comrades, we need you to head them off” “no I’d rather my men not do anything and let this happen cause we’ve already fought the brotherhood, this isn’t our war” “what do you mean it isn’t our war?!? They’ve attacked our entire republic, enslaved us!” “No I’m going somewhere else to build up forces to attack the NCR” “you are fucking insane what is wrong with you”

Fun Fact: The Adam airforce base had a Mobile Crawler, as in, its basically a big ass tank. It can't fly, only used as a landing pad for Vertibirds. In Fallout 4, The Mobile Crawler was dismantled in order to build the Prydwin. This just looks like a garbage copy of the Avernger's ship.

If this is indicative of your performance as a commander, you probably have killed as many as Oliver and Kimball in the Mojave through similar methods. *"Only to die for a cause not of their own."* You are the one who wants to send your forces south and overthrow a democratically elected government due to their poor handling of military affairs. Most of these guys just want to go home and not deal with a war or defective leader ever again. Hell you kill the ones that try to leave, and abuse the deaths of your elite soldiers to keep the rest in line (citing how they only became The Elite because they were loyal and didn't question the cause) *"I wish those who waged war would understand that."* YOU'RE LITERALLY WAGING A STALEMATED WAR RIGHT NOW! The sand airship was land not air and its a mining thing irl that the enclave made a livable base stuck on that had a satellite uplink. That thing only exists thanks to pre war enclave and that they don't need to waste duel moving it as its a lot easier to keep it hidden in one spot after the apocalypse and ita kept as a base similar to the enclave oil base as a safety net and place to retreat to not a weapon to storm the capital wasteland. The only reason it was a threat is that it would be too risky to clear it of enclave with bos troops and it was calling a satellite to blow up the citadel. Sever the link and it's just a paperweight full of angry enclave. The exile helicarrier not only looks out of place but is actively fucking the lore. Modified mining thing that acts as a fallback for enclave just like the modified oil rig enclave in fallout 2 had which could send troops to scout threats then return to call in satellite strike vs marvel ripoff that doesn't match anything outside the mod but Is also prewar and would make liberty prime pointless and takes away any importance the US vs china tech race had like the power armor vs stealth armor and all those experiments in big empty and can't be put on enclave as the only lore they have about air bases was a plan that they might have not even performed b4 the war which was to take a ship and find a new world so even if that got of the ground b4 the nukes we won't be seeing them and would make a airship pointless as they could theoretically just keep the space ship in orbit where no one could hit it. Not to mention that writer(s) wouldn't put an enclave path claiming they are fascist xenophobic paramilitary group that is objectively evil (I think the enclave are somewhat that but I've seen titles of videos claiming that's not true but haven't watched them) yet they allow the legion and happily retcon that oh these legion are more progressive than the legion of Mojave despite being said as tribals looking to join not full members and what the hell do they think will happen when they reconnect with Caesar and word of their transgressions against his orders gets out and they try to drag irl politics in by also claiming that only Trump supporters would want that path. Regardless of your opinion of a faction in a game you should get the option of playing thru it if it makes sense for the story. For example in dragon age there's no path for Darkstar outside the dlc mini campaign because no one on any moral compass would destroy the only world they have to live on and darkspawn unless heavily altered can't be reasoned with. Howe've in games like swtor fallout and many others that option can work as it can give more depth to a side and maybe show they are more than just an evil for evil sake group or at least let's the player learn more about the enemy they will fight instead of them being generic flat slates. It also gives the roleplayers more creative freedom by stretching their creativity to come up with a character who would be willing to join up with that group. In swtor as a republic character like the jedi or trooper you can roleplay as a loyalist who slowly loses faith in the republic due to incompetence, corruption and the fact that at least the empire gets thinks done or is more proactive while sith and imp agents can be loyal to using more than just the light and the empires meritocracy while push back the racism self interest and slaver traditions that typically bite the empire in the ass. Both sides can even go against orders to do what they believe is right and twice you have the option of defecting in different ways. But in the frontier it's only good guys and a pg bad guys you can join. They even admitted to not having barely played the main game and not found much enjoyment yet tried to make a giant mod for it and had the audacity to claim it was lore friendly.

So Blackthorn took his “army” and went AWOL because Kimball was going to war with the legion and needed their help, and he had already lost enough men fighting the BOS. He promises his men that he will lead them to safety if they follow him, and so he leads them to a base in the Portland area. Given the pre war hardware they are showing off to courier six in this episode, makes me think that Blackthorn KNEW about this weapon the whole time, that his intention, from the very beginning, was to replace Kimball and General Oliver. This plot has a strong resemblance to a generic dollar general Swiss cheese.

To be fair, the space chapter is the kind of silly, cheesy fun Fallout already has a lot of. But there is no way to fit it in the story like that. With things like Mothership Zeta we get a separate DLC that is unrelated to the main game, completely takes place at a separate location, and the outcome has no effect to the main game. It's sort of it's own contained thing. Or how the Silver Shroud is treated in Fallout 4. Originally it's just a small chain of quests that plays with the idea of a 1930s pulp novel crime fighter, even so far to let the player character roleplay by speaking in character. And the Mechanist DLC grab that idea and let the player have more fun with it. The franchise is open to wild and silly stuff, but usually keeps it contained and away from the more serious notes.
