Hariyama is actually _really good_ in Pokemon Go. In PoGo, due to how the gym system works, you are fighting Blisseys constantly. As a result, fighting-type Pokemon with good STAB moves are highly prized. Counter and Dynamic Punch are the highest-damage fast and charged fighting attacks (respectively); and Machamp is the best Pokemon who can use them. However, the Machop evolution line is irritatingly hard to come by in the wild, and often Makuhita is more available. So if you don't have enough Machamps, Hariyama can also be taught Counter and Dynamic Punch and used the same way; it just has slightly lower defense/survivability.

Cool to know that someone got mileage out of knock off in gen 3, I had kind of assumed it only came into prominence in gen 6 with the damage boost. And that hariyama has a niche in most generations. I’m using it in Pokémon xd with the guts ability, since I can activate it with my own Pokémon as the game is all double battles. Then fake out, brick break, earthquake, and facade, even if the last move can only be gotten by clearing lv. 4 of mount battle. I seriously realize the value of fake out in doubles, and even though I’m early in the game, it just evolved and got a huge boost to hp and attack compared to the rest of the team.

@captainangamos22124 жыл бұрын
Claudol is a spinner that used to be able to counter the common Kommo-o when he was in the tier.

Gen 8 uu has still not been defined. I'd give it a month or so for the meta to develop.

Despite how bulky Hariyama looks one would think the fighting type would have a relatively good defense stat, but obviously not, which could be one thing that could make Hariyama somewhat better in the competitive scene. Though perhaps you could see if Hariyama's paradox variant, Iron Hands, did in the competitive scene.
